Dr. Stone was probably the most handsome of the classic TV sitcom dads. The Stones always seemed like a genuinely real family to me. I heard that Carl, Donna, Shelley and Paul would go out to eat together after the show finished, and people would look in awe. They were considering doing a reunion special, but sadly, Carl passed away before they could do it.
I used to watch him in the late 60s ( I think) he was a attorney on a TV show
@@califdad4 yes. "Ironside"
@@Texaslawhorn wasn't that Raymond burrs show?
@@Texaslawhorn it was Judd for the defense
@@califdad4 oh yeah. You're right.
One of the great father figures on TV I miss the simpler times.
Same here 💖
The second episode was about how boys just beat each other up so you better get gud
Carl Betz was easily the most handsome actor on TV, but it seems he didn't have enough to do on the Donna Reed show. Donna's character was often overly sweet, saccharine, and a bit Pollyannish, but it was a great show. My favorite throwback TV show was Father Knows Best, scripts and stories more believable, always made an impression on me, and most episodes usually had a lesson the family learned, along with the audience. Great shows, an era needs to return to again.
I miss them also.
At 0:12 that is not a picture of Shelly Fabares who played Mary, but of Patty Peterson who was adopted by the Stones when Mary left.
That was also a 16 year old Jeff he introduced as being 11 years old.
I still watch Donna Reed re-runs today. I always thought he was so very handsom.
He was incredibly good looking.
Handsome indeed
Donna Reed was without a doubt the most beautiful woman of her time. I always had a crush on her. I saw where Carl died on my 33rd birthday.
I really love Carl betz as dr Alex stone he is my favorite actor in the Donna reed show I really want him so much
He was very handsome. He was in great shape. Everyone liked him.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
December 1970 - he was on one of the first vignettes of Rod Serling's Night Gallery. A young Louise Sorel played his wife; she would become famous as Vivian Alamaine on Days of Our Lives.
Loved the Donna Reed show! My crush was on Donna Reed though... up to her last days... always had a crush on her... all the way from “It’s a Wonderful Life to the end...
I always liked him,
.He was so good looking.A great actor. Also
I love him!! Such a talented man! ❤️
He like a lot of people of the day chain smoked without a clue. I had a teacher as a young kid that would always quip "Who do you think you are?? Dud for the Defense" when listening to kids lame excuses. When I saw daughter Shelley Fabares sing Johnny Angel on the show, I would have married her on the spot. I guess we would left on our honeymoon on my Stingray bicycle.
Her singing that with Donna is on here.. check it out
I loved this show bad in the 60's and still enjoy the reruns.
I always watched the Donna Reed show. I loved the Stone Family.
They came across as a real family. They were great.
I watched The Donna Reed Show as a child and had a crush on Jeff Stone. I loved the show and that included Carl Betz. I wished my family was like the Stone family and wished my father was like Dr Stone. I’d like to see it in reruns. Does anyone know if it is on any of the channels or platforms? Thanks for the video!
It is on tv land
There' a free App called Tubi. It's a free TV app where you can find/search movies, old tv shows. You can find The Donna Reed Show on there
Cynthia Puchel 😉
If you have amazon prime it’s on amazon prime video
It’s also on a channel called Decades. It’s airs 10-11am EST every weekday.
You are showing Trisha, a character that comes in Season 6, a runaway orphan who is adopted by the Stones. Mary was played by the fabulous Shelley Fabares.
just one of many inexcusable errors
I didn't like it when Trisha joined the show. She just didn't fit the show.
I hate your overuse of stock footage.
He was so grate as Dr. Stone. I had no idea that he died so young,
he also appeared in the 1966 Elvis Presley film Spinout
@00:12 Shows Trisha (Patty Petersen) and introduces her as Mary (Shelley Fabares). @00:15 Shows 16 year old Jeff (Paul Petersen) and introduces him as 11 years old.
Yes, major flaws.
@@Monorail-Beyond-the-Veil These Facts Verse "fact checkers" are HOPELESS. Not only here but on many others. "Petticoat Junction" -- OMG! the mistakes!
What a good looking man!!! I love The Donna Reed Show❤ I'm glad he stayed with the show
The casting was incredible. The kids looked like they could have been their real children. And the chemistry between Donna Reed and Carl Betz seemed believable. You'd think they really were married. That's a tribute to their great acting skills.
I liked Carl Betz in any role... Sad he died too young
Carl Betz best role was definitely The Donna Reed Show.
Both Carl and Donna passed away way too soon. 😥
I will always love this show
Same!🥰
Still love this show😊😇
He was a good actor., he died young, he was only 56. I always liked Donna Reed in Dallas better than the actress she replaced for the year
10:22
I preferred Donna to Barbara Bel Geddes too!
They were two very different takes on Miss Ellie. Both had their merits. I love Dallas, but Dallas did Donna dirty.
@@Texaslawhorn they sure did, and they paid her quite a bit
Loved this show. Grew up with it. Carl Betz was probably the handsomest TV Dad ever ! Just saw him in "Dangerous Crossing" with Jeanne Crain from 1953. Never saw him in this kind of role. Quite surprising.
We're happy to know that you love the show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. If we may ask, which episode did you like the best?
@@FactsVerse Because I was the same age as Paul and was becoming a singer(I actually worked with him in 1965 with the "SHINDIG" tour show) the "My Dad" episode. I even sang this song for MY dad too. Great memories !
😊saw this show on nick at nite I was 7 in 1991 until I was 9 in 1994 when nick at nite cancelled it love the Donna reed show saw season 4 on metv in 2011 all 5 seasons now on plutotv and AMAZON 🤸♂️
When we heard that he was from Pittsburgh when he was doing Donna read my mother really watch.
YOU'RE SHOWING PAUL PETERSEN'S REAL LIFE SISTER AND NOT SHELLY FABARE IN THE FIRST CLIP AS MARY.
Dr. Stone forever my favorite show thank you Carl♥️
I thought he was talented and when he died i missed him.
I loved Donna….she was so gorgeous
He was right sometimes. He was wrong sometimes.
It was and is a perfect show.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
I think he went to Mt. Lebanon HS not Mr. Lebanon.
The daughter at fourteen is NOT SHELLEY FABARE ! IT'S PAUL PETERSEN'S SISTER ! Loved him in "Judd For The Defense" !
Just goes to show how much they really know. This isn't the first time I've noticed such mixups.
CARL BETZ was in the 1953 movie - "DANGEROUS CROSSING" with Jeannie Craine and Michael Rennie - - CARL WAS great in that movie - HE dies in the script - -!
Some courses in video production are needed here. Aside from confusing stills and out of order, or unrelated clips, by the time you lead to your point, you don't go into details about why he changed his mind, and conclude with why his decision was crucial to the show continuing for two more years. This is your subject, not a profile on his entire career. Focus and better organization is needed especially since you mention "facts." Let's get them straight, including images in correct time lines and context.
Wish they'd get the girls straight on "The Donna Reed Show!" But Carl Betz was a very handsome man. I watch the show now. It was before and just after I was born.
It's Facts Verse -- they don't know, they don't care -- but they got people to watch and 'click.'
I think Carl Betz got an emy for either his first or second year as lead in Judd for the defence
One of the most important things any performer can ACHIEVE; and Facts Verse omits it.
2nd, btw.
Love the Donna Reed show saw it when I was 7 in 1991 until I was 9 in 1994 when nick at nite cancelled it later saw the 4 season on metv 😉📼🍩💣
I remember The Donna Reed show that was my favorite show I loved all the episodes so funny
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?

6:34 - 6:46 "The kind of part [Clinton Judd, "Judd for the Defense"] was EXACTLY what he was looking for. . . . [pause] His later years. After 'Judd for the Defense' got cancelled after two seasons Betz would take his love for acting back to the stage."
"WAY TO GO! Facts Verse, NOT.
How does a profiler of an established veteran of two television series blow off any reference to said star winning the HIGHEST achievement, the Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Continuing Role in a a Dramatic Series, i.e., Juud?"
Best TV DAD EVER !
Thanks for watching!
Major mistake at 0:12 FACTS VERSE: the actress you feature and refer to as Mary at this mark in the time code is Patty Petersen, whose character’s name is Trisha. The character of Mary was played by Shelley Fabares.
"thomjoconnor," "Major mistake" -- It's just ONE of MANY. But, hey, it's Facts Verse; what did you expect? The professionalism of 'Biography'? '60 Minutes'?"
He was very good on The Donna Reed Show, but Donna ruled the roost and Shelly and Paul gave the appeal for a younger audience. He was terrific in Judd for the Defense and I’m disappointed that it didn’t have a longer run.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
He was so good as Judd that he won an Emmy for it. Fabulous show way ahead of its time.
I LIKED HIM ON THE DONNA REED SHOW BEST.
0:11 - That wasn't Mary.
Tell the story without the video clips that have nothing to do with the subject.
Why!! It was him that madfe me want to be a good dad.
Thanks for watching!
As a kid, I always got him and Darren McGavin mixed up.
"TonyBoyOhBoy," Carl Betz: 6'0" full, jet black hair, normal complexion, ideal weight / full bodied, infectious smile; Darren McGavin: 5'10" thinning, sandy colored hair, a million freckles on pale complexion, slightly slight frame, infectious smile.
"Oh, yeah -- I did too. . . . NOT."
On the Donna Reed show
One of our favorites too, you've got taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
That was not Shelley Fabares!
Why do you ruin it with fake people?????
"mariamerced472," Facts Verse is a fake channel as far as validity of content goes. Perhaps a.i.
CLEARLY no one employed there has any sense of how to ascertain facts or check things out. Or, sense of purpose to CARE. Or worse, not recognize the people or properties (movie, TV) they're presenting!
The starsky and hutch
I think their cigarette habits led them to early graves...
"irish89055," So many of our grandparents and great grandparents may have joined them -- 46% of adult Americans smoked cigarettes in '50 & '60s. The habit tapered slowly, VERY slowly -- after the (U.S.A.) Surgeon General's findings released in a report in 1964.
He went to Mr. Lebanon High School? is that the one across the street from Mt. Lebanon High School? *smh*
That wasn’t Mary! Lol the first one….
I never I knew this show even tho I have watched oldie movie's show's I wish I was born later and be a teen kid in the 50's and dress and deal with the adolescence life ❤️💯
A bit before my time and never seen the show.
It's good, old-fashioned black and white television, back when they cared about what they were doing. Catch it on Tubi for free with ads.

"STOP the PRESSES! 'nemesisshadowlord2026' feels the need to tell EVERYONE on this thread who HAS watched Carl Betz's most identified role -- but doesn't know him from Adam -- that this is all new to him. He's never seen the show [ed. - so WHY even Comment?!]. 'A bit before my time' so say a number of OTHER people, but they ended up catching decades' old repeats on various outlets. Figured it out.

"stanburdick9708," Carl had lots and LOTS of company -- with the habit AND the smokers' demise. 46% of adult Americans smoked cigarettes in '50 & '60s. The use of them tapered slowly, VERY slowly -- after the (U.S.A.) Surgeon General's scary findings released in its ground-breaking report in 1964.
