- This is part five in a series of five mini lessons about the Restoration of the Gospel...all in celebration of the upcoming 200th anniversary of the First Vision and our bicentennial General Conference.
Part five focuses on what we learn about how God reaches the world through different people with the ministry of Joseph Smith and how He has continued this and will continue this same pattern until the eventual restoration of all things.

Your comment about the woman bearing her testimony that Joseph was the Smith, made me think of this scripture in Isaiah 54:16- "Behold I have created THE SMITH that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work..."

Wow, your testimony towards the end of this video is one of the most powerful and beautifully said testimonies I have ever heard in my whole life. Hearing you talk about taking your children up to meet Joseph and then you saying that Joseph would then introduce you to his hero, Jesus, was just WHOA. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the Savior, the prophet, and the restoration. I will walk away from these videos with a greater faith in and testimony of this marvelous work and I’m so grateful for that.

If there are more, can you please work on the sound as some parts are very hard to hear. I'd love to hear more about the symbolism in the stonework on the Temples, I found that very interesting about the use of the symbols from the book of Revelations correlating to the stars, sun and moon. Thanks for what you did - if you ever do any more I'd love to watch them.

I believe that the greatest contribution of Joseph Smith was the knowledge of the character of God that he gave us. My Joseph Smith moment came from the King Follett sermon where he describes the attributes of God the Father. He learned those things first hand and from the many messengers during his short life and from his life experiences in tandem with them. Many other things also fill my heart, I love Joseph because he brought me God, a God who we had not known up until that time. This is what I believe John Taylor meant when he described him as having done more. After hearing a small part of that sermon, delivered in a 15 minute vignette at Nauvoo by the actor playing Joseph in the pageant, in the West Grove, I received a witness that indeed Joseph in all his majesty, that he had attained a voice for speaking of holy things, once a humble boy, but now the Prophet of the Restoration. That he could deliver such a speech and let us know the character of God as we have never heard it before. I believe we still have much to learn from the Restoration, and more will come from what Joseph set up under the Lord's direction. I read and study the King Follet discourse, a 2+ hour sermon,, which some say is only about 30% of the actual sermon, (of which we only have from notes), and find something new each time as my eyes are opened to the Glory of the Lord.

I've loved all five of these lectures and really appreciate your insights. Was very difficult hearing the last one though - just for future reference. Loved that they were videoed in that cosy area with great historic props to add personal detail - you have a great ability to bring history to life and unite various scripture stories so that they tie together beautifully. I had a difficult time hearing this time, as many have mentioned. But I have learned so much from your lessons and have been blessed with a great desire to learn more. Please consider continuing these classes as I supplement with my own study.

Some advice to hear this better- I connected my phone to our Bluetooth speaker and then was able to turn the volume up even more than my phone would have let me. You could also try casting it on your TV if that's an option for you.

I'm sure there are some but I personally have never met a Jr. who is not the oldest son. It's always impressed me that Joseph Jr is the 3rd son, and the prophesy would be fulfilled.
marcia crandall “Jr.” only means a boy carries the same name as his father, not necessarily that he is the oldest son. My 2nd son has his dad’s name as his middle name and some people thought that was strange, believing that our oldest son had the “right” to his father’s name. Maybe it’s just been a tradition, but is certainly not a “rule”.

Another cool comparison between Joseph and Moses - both established Gods law. The law of Moses and then the New and Everlasting Covenant. AND they were both relatively described as unlearned and slow of speech.... perfect for the Lord to show His ability to perform his own work. So cool.
I like to think about when Joseph Smith returns to the spirit world. He see’s the Savior, his brother’s, and Joseph of Egypt. I can see the Savior, Joseph of Egypt, & Joseph Smith in an embrace of such brotherly love.
I love these videos. I have felt the spirt.
One suggestion is to place your camera down like the fist videos so that the fluorescent are not in the picture. The room is so beautiful without them showing.
You mentioned Stephen Markham! He was my great-great grandfather and I'm proud of his legacy and his role in being a friend and body guard to Joseph Smith. Also, what is this book you mention called "Saints?" I would love to know. Thanks so much for doing these videos! They have been amazing!
It's a new history of the church being released in multiple volumes. Free in the gospel library app, or inexpensive via church bookstores
I love your videos but something is going on with the sound . I know I'm not the only one so I hope you will look into this and maybe redo the presentation so we can hear it I have noticed this happening for a few weeks now and thought something was going on with my speaker but obviously others are experiencing the same thing I love and look forward to each week and learning so much . Thank you for these incredible videos on the Restoration. That word has a whole new meaning for me now. I appreciate the work you do, leading so many people to Jesus. I'm curious though what is the name of the talk Elder Holland gave that you referred to? Elder Holland is my my list of people who built my faith, I'd love to read that talk.

These five lectures have been great to listen to, and have given me some additional things to think about in my own study of the scriptures. There is one thing that has really bugged me about this entire presentation though, and that is the lack of wearing white gloves when handling such delicate historical items. Books of that age and meaning should be handled more delicately in my opinion.
The volume is set very low on this one. I can hardly hear it. Which is deeply disappointing
Yeah, I had that problem too - I went from my desktop to my laptop then tried my iPad which is usually great but even with that I had to borrow my daughter's headphones. I did try the subtitles but the accent meant many words were just weird.
