  • What can we expect Alec Baldwin's Manslaughter trial?
    #Baldwin #RustMovieSet #Manslaughter
Alec Baldwin is headed to trial for involuntary manslaughter three years after the fatal shooting on the set of Rust.
Baldwin, 66, was initially charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in January 2023 after he was holding a prop weapon that contained real bullets on the film’s set in New Mexico back in 2021. The shot killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
Baldwin has maintained his innocence since the shooting and claimed he didn’t pull the trigger of the prop gun. He pleaded not guilty in February 2023 and the criminal charges were dropped against the actor two months later.
“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, attorneys for Baldwin said in an April 2023 statement.
While the charges were dropped in 2023, Baldwin was indicted for a second time on involuntary manslaughter charges the following year. Baldwin’s attorneys filed to have the case dismissed but the judge sided with prosecutors to let the trial continue. (US News)

If a movie set isn't real life, they shouldn't be using real weapons.

I've been in the film business 44 years. Prof. Geary is wrong that Alec B. was in charge of hiring every crew member "from A to Z." A producer rarely, if ever, does that; he/she instead delegates. Hiring crew on a film is done by the Unit Production Mangager (UPM) or Line Producer. Watch again Reed's trial testimony from witnesses: Rust line producer Gabrielle Pickle and UPM Catherine Walters. Not defending Alec B, just stating how it work on all films. However, you guys are 100% right in that the producer, in this case Alec B, is always ultimately responsible for the safety of all cast and crew. During filming, crew safety is also assumed by the 1st AD (assistant director), in this case, Dave Halls.

Great detail. Thanks, but it still doesn’t change the fact that Baldwin is a complete scum bag. Millions of us have known this for decades.

Thank you for your comments, just trying to point out that the producer even though he (Alec Baldwin) tried to shirk his responsibilities, is in fact responsible.

@@PoliceofftheCuff I agree with you 100%. Also he had multiple film experiences using guns/working with armorers. No excuse for his cavalier attitude on safety with guns.

Hi All, Sgt Bill: Why Don't they Use Simunition Rounds. Rounds that will run the the Modified Firearm but without the the risk of firing a standard live round?? Not Completely Safe but better than what happened.

Officer Grimaldi keeps saying a potential suspended sentence for Baldwin, but shouldn't he get at least the amount of time the amorer got - 18 months - especially given it's the same judge and Bladwin has multiple roles of responsibilty where he failed?

What's even more tragic is, the firearm shouldn't have been loaded with ANYTHING at that time. They were only blocking and setting up for the next shot which wasn't for a good while yet. Gutierrez shouldn't have loaded that gun until shortly before filming began. Plus, even with blanks there's danger. In addition to the Brandon Lee tragedy, another movie actor died when he put a gun loaded with blanks to his head and pulled the trigger. Even though there was no bullet to come out of the barrel, the hot expanding gases struck his skull hard enough to cause a fracture which impacted his brain, killing him. So even blanks are dangerous.

Prayers for Matthew and Andros Hutchins, please touch them with your healing spirit. Every time a new trial comes up regarding their wife and mom losing her life in this very traumatic manner, they need your comforting love to touch their spirits. May your everlasting love that never ends touch their spirits always, especially at this time of the new trial of Alec Baldwin.
Thank you for answering our prayers.
    Amen 🙏 🙏🙏

@phily-boy Hi Det Phil, good to see you on last nights show. Just to let you know that I am thinking of you and your family in prayers, as the anniversary of the sad loss of your brother in law approaches. Thank you for speaking up for your faith in God. Sometimes, I really struggle with my faith, for example, the sad passing of Corey Comperatore, then when I reflect on the love Corey demonstrated in shielding his family from gunfire, which ultimately resulted in him losing his life. Corey's sacrifice is one good lesson to learn out of this horrific attack.
I am speaking to myself as well as making these comments. Hate and selfishness only divides, Unity is the best example of love.
I love Donald Trump 🙏🇺🇸🙏. Det Phil,
May God bless you and your family abundantly.
      Love in Jesus,

Hi Kim, thank you for your kind words. I do believe in God and I do believe that there was divine intervention on Saturday when Trump was shot. Sometimes God has to step in and give us what we need not what we want. May God bless you and protect you and your family. Thanks again.

@phily-boy Dear Det Phil, Thank you for your kind reply, agree God always knows what is best for us. Fully believe we are in God's classroom of learning day by day. Like the box of chocolates Forest Gump, we never know which chocolate we are going to be given.
I am so grateful to be part of Policeoffthecuff, have learnt so much. Lessons that have helped my spiritual faith grow.
      Love in Jesus,
