- Steve is one of my favorite builders in the world and one of my closest friends. This little Toyota Stout he built is such a cool truck. Simple. Close to original but better. Better by a long shot including increasing the horsepower 30% from 60 to 80 hp!!
Enjoy!

My dad bought one same colour and year in 1962. Was our farm Ute in South Australian for nearly 40 years. I learned to drive in it in the 80s. It’s indestructible, dad rolled it over once and the only part damaged was the stock crate bolted to the back. I sent this video to dad, maybe he will be inspired to restore his. 🇦🇺
This is why. All the extra touches, the extra attention, all the going the extra mile to give the customer the vehicle that they dreamt about.... THIS is why a build can and many times costs FAR more than the owner could ever get if they were to sell said dream!! Its not about the money, its all about the dream. I love this build.
Michael Cousins great comment Michael!
this is why im a toyota fan..drove them for 40 years ,,very kool
I bought one brand new in 1963 in green absolutely I breakable Amazing memories
This is why Steve Strope and Pure Vision is one of the best builders.. All the little touches are amazing. Not of it is obviously custom.
blwoolfson I’m with you on this. What they do is so tasteful.
Steve is a mad man no matter the ride!!!
We had a stout when I was a kid! The air vent was a louvre that always sprayed us with dust and leaves after it had been sitting for a while 🇦🇺
😂😂 this wasn’t popular here in the states. Didn’t even know they existed here until Steve talked about it.
@@AutotopiaLA it wasn't popular here either! Less power than a lawnmower
I learned to drive in one in the 80s!
Just the ART of the build.
This was a pleasant surprise, I had no idea this truck even existed. Someone mini truck one of these ASAP!
Stephan Corzine same for me. Never knew this truck existed.
Already seen some awesome examples
Never disappointed from the stuff coming out of Pure Vision. One of my favorite builders. Such a departure from the stuff normally coming out of his shop, but never-the-less, just as great as anything he's built.
Great comment and I completely agree with you 👊
That's one of the coolest Imports I've ever seen!
Danny Smith agreed. Just a little beauty.
Love the truck. Different from the usual stuff.
cody mallernee very different. Beautiful tasteful build.
What an incredible job done on this truck! Love it!
Hermosa camioneta...el carro de mis sueños..muy pronto tendré una de esas saludos
Toyota rules forever, period!
Cream puff!!!!
strope's, one if not the best builder around.....
I absolutely dig it ! Super clean and continuing the rocker into the bedside finishes it right !
Such a cool finishing touch. Looks like it should’ve been that way originally.
I LOVE when you go to Steve's. He is so much fun. He Geeks out much the way Jonathan Ward does but he just seems so much more approachable.
My gosh I remember these trucks when i was younger.. got a friend that own couple but fitted with a newer engine.. this video is awesome.. love this episode
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Wonderful build/restoration they did
Best looking truck ever built, I had one lined up in Miami at a dealership a few years back. a 1966 Stout the salesman said it was the cleanest one in the country, ( maybe it's the one they bought as a parts truck) being a long trip of 400 miles he offered to let me stay at his house for the night before driving it home. It was super clean and only $4500 back in 2010 or so. Having never heard of one I was too reluctant thinking I'd never find parts if it broke down. Sure I always kind of wished I made the trip, but yet I never had the headache of trying to fix something no parts were available for either, bitter sweet I suppose still like their blinkers sitting on top the fenders. What a beautiful design. Other car manufactures bring back retro challengers, mustangs and Camaros, why can't Toyota bring something like this back or even an fj40.
These are such unique trucks and I love what Strope and his team did to it. And he said parts are close to impossible to get.
That was such a cool truck
U need to show more vehicles like that
Really cool little truck. Will try to find and show more like this for you 👊
Wonderful. An awesome build, while not cheap it a refreshing change from the megabuck builds usually featured here.
Philo Beddoe agreed. We try to show vehicles that we’re passionate about no matter the cost.
That cool... I've never seen one of these... I would love to see this retro modded but it's nice to view it as history also... thanks for sharing this time capsule with us
What a beautiful little truck.
Totally agreed. Every touch is right on this thing.
I absolutely love this!!!!
Beautiful Truck, my uncle bought one in 1980, it brings childhood memories, 👍.
Very cool! This is such a little beauty of a truck.
Great looking truck!
Love that paint job😘
Princess Solace 👊
Got to love it.
Agreed....it's sweet! Most likely the main attention getter at any cars and coffee.
For sure! And a blast to drive with Steve in it
Gorgeous
Boy that's clean!😍😍😍
It really is. Everything is just right on it
I really enjoy this channel, thank you.
I’m glad. Thanks for your comment 👊
Sweet ride!!! I love old trucks
Yeah, really sweet ride here. Cool touches.
He’s one of my favorite builders
You and me both 👊 and such a great guy
I like it! kinda reminds me of a 67 bronco up front. Sweet color choice as well.
phaze 1 yeah, the color is so perfect with the cream accents and orange interior. Love it 👊
Stunning
Agreed
Lovely little Ute. Wish I still had mine.
Such a pretty rebuild of this truck
Perfectly Awesome. Miss my 69 datsun. Had built 2.0 with 240z transmission. It was dangerous.
I really miss the old 510's!
Sounds like a cool one
Love the 510’s!!
Pretty sweet!
Yeah, really neat little truck
What a great car
Yeah, it’s a pretty little truck. All the right touches.
my father drove one almost 20years, a 1975 stout 2000, 2.0 100-105hp top speed120kmt / 75mph and no one wants to try it no synchro in 1st gear but it was also never used as it was too low for road use, but with a load capacity of 1750kg it was a true workhorse ,and yes the engien is also used in forklift both petrol and gas converted
Cool story here. I love what Strope and his crew did to this one
Excellent Truck, and you Never See them over here in Australia..
killer build like usual.. and like what the owner chose to get done.. A+
It’s a beauty. Such a perfect restoration of this with some sweet additions
I will look out for it as I am south of Sydney:) it might drive down here in local car shows
Very desirable little beasty , being Aussie I would be happy to own it .
This is very nice classic car.😊
Yeah, their restoration and upgrades is impressive
Darn I commented before seeing the whole video.... this is cool
Damm man how cool is that truck❤️
Amazing little truck. Such subtle tasteful details
@@AutotopiaLA yeah with no any doubt
Strope is an automotive midas
Great channel and content
This channel is awesome because of this truck. But you know where I am and
What I think your doing. Keep it up brother
Thanks Ross! Such a killer little truck. Had a blast rolling with Steve in it 👊
That's crazy and had no idea Toyota even made anything like that, the tele knobs on the dash is a cool touch and own an American special myself. Yeah that's definitely out of the norm for this channel but it's pretty cool and definitely unique. Hey man it's been a while since you've showcased any Mopars and have been watching for you to upload one again, do you have any plans on doing one anytime soon ?
SRTCRA-Z I love the tele knobs! Such a cool touch. And yes on more Mopar. I promise within the next few episodes. Have a killer Charger (Strope) lined up and a Roadrunner that you can’t help but love.
AutotopiaLA oh cool, is that the same builder that did this truck ?. Will be looking forward to seeing them, what year is the charger and RR. My first car was a 68 Charger and have owned two of them over the years. Also had a 70 RR which was my third Mopar and restored it back in the early 90s. Thanks bro, will be looking out for them whenever you upload 👍
I recall seeing Strope playing a bass ("slappa-da-bass?") in one of his videos, thus the inspiration for using instrument knobs.
Lol that dude actually made this video, such a chill guy lol
Nice 👍
james burke yeah, really sweet little truck and the colors...😍
Nice
Sweet ride
Just watched the build on tv....the owner was floored. The lights on the hood are really something different.
Really wish I could afford to have them do mine!
I own a 1969 Toyota Corona 2 door hardtop. (RT52L) 8RC motor with Toyoglide transmission. I loved driving it back in the 80s! I Bought it from a school teacher in California for $65.00! I really wish I had the money and time to restore it.
Wow! $65?? Crazy!!
My thoughts too. Looks like an early 60s GMC with that grill , headlights and turn signal lights on the hood .
Cool
👊
Saw one today in portland. It was mint red
Que linda camioneta esas si eran buenas deberian de bolber a fabricarlas
When Steve talking about tires, l don't get it when he says 14,15 or 16 are hard to get. In the US are those tires hard to get?
Yes, they are, unfortunately....still a fair number of 16" sizes--decreasing every year--but 15s and 14s are getting harder to find.
They really are. Plus with the smaller wheels it’s difficult to get any real brakes.
I've never had a problem getting 14 inch tires for my 94 Toyota pickup or the 1980 Datsun I recently sold. Trouble getting them with raised white letters yes, but not light truck tires.
I can fully understand the Mexican carpenters in the background lol
Looks like a miniature early C Series Chevrolet pickup(1960-61) with it's twin hump turn indicators on each edge of the hood IMO, although both trucks appeared simultaneously, I doubt Toyota used Chevrolet influence(or maybe even vice-versa) when designing their trucks for 1960, just a nice coincidence I would think.
However it came to be, I love what they turned this little truck into. And that color 👊
I am so glad they didn't just throw an LS engine into it. The LS swap has become so common, it is boring.
They put so much into this. Plus it has to stay mostly original going back to Australia
125 likes 0 dislikes, that's how you do it
Thanks 👊
Its ok with you,to build one similar in greece?
I didn’t build this one. Check with the builder Steve Strope at Pure Vision Design for any info needed
Lo vi en discovery turbo
the first toyota stout to land in america was in 1964 with 4 units being sold throughout america in there first year and this vehicle is not a 1962 and if it was it would be named toyopet across its grille so this model is a 1964 Australian INTRODUCED version by Thiess Pty Ltd whom had 4 Toyota dealerships in Australia at that time in 1964
Ive got one in my driveway. Stock wheels are 13s, not 14s
Man, still counting days on my fingers to see roadrunner..losing patience..lolol
It’s coming I promise!! We’re just waiting for the owner to finish it. It’s sooooo close!
A japenese truck that looks american weird buh cool
And when I clears customs it’ll live and drive in Australia
@@AutotopiaLA awsome bro
Why!?!?
If you have to ask I wouldn’t be able to explain
Back ground noise terrible,
