Dang, you just destroyed my will to take frags instead of bees with facts and logic. I already thought they were underrated and took them frequently, but the opacity of their aggro mechanics frustrated me to no end
The things I'm not sure about is under what circumstances bees in a hive bomb will switch targets from one to another. Also do we really have to wait until we hear it lock on to somebody is there a better formula to push in if we know the hive can see the enemy, does it always lock on to who is closest or what?
How much damage does it do if I destroy it as quickly as possible? I like to use it to finish Hunters I have tagged with a rifle, so I am interested how much damage a rifle needs to do to result in a guaranteed kill
@@knaea Kinda. Thx for the reply. But usually you wont be able to destroy it before it ticks multiple times, right? So it was more how much damage I can realistically expect it to do as a low estimate. Also does the damage also get dealt through Antidote shots? Do you know that by any chance?
@@emptyptr9401 ahh I see what you’re saying. I’ll do my best to estimate, without knowing the -exact- tick rate of the hive and exact swing rate of the fastest weapon I would assume 1 to 1. So you can probably expect something in the area if 3 ticks or 12 damage before they can kill the swarm with three melee hits. That is assuming that it lands in such a way to start damaging immediately. Meaning that largely any gun outside of the sparks may not be technically guaranteed but something like a mosin is very likely. Yes it will do it’s damage through antidote. That was change a while back in a patch where poison damages still do the physical damage and simply do not apply the poison effect. So things like the hive bomb and spider. Stuff like poison bomb (basically clouds of poison) will be negated by the shot

Although, If they are tagged AND followed by a swarm of Insects, I think my secondary has a good chance of finishing them off xd. Following up on a Body-hit with a hive is still a goof combo imo. There are few things that put as much pressure on you Id imagine.
how do i unlock the hive bomb? it says, "antidote shot" and when i use the "antidote shot" (not the weak one, the normal one) no progress is shown towards unlocking the hive bomb, do i need to USE the antidote shot AND THEN take poison damage while it is in effect for me to unlock the hive bomb?....im about to try the latter honestly, and if that doesnt work, then i just dont know....
That should do it and you should be able to see progress as well as requirements in the book of weapons. No, taking damage should not be part of it, just use of the item If for some reason the shot doesn’t work try the poison bomb if you have that unlocked, but for tool unlocks it’s literally just use. Which is why you’ll sometimes see people lord in and immediately use all their consumables or right before extract use everything up to make sure they get the progress
@@knaea damn, my game must be glitched than or something, wait.....what if i used it when it was contraband.....would it then not count? cuz i might have did that and yeah i use poison bombs a lot so that definitely doesnt work for me, and yeah i also do that last part, just chuckin decoys to unlock decoy fuses and such lol thank you for the feedback i do really appreciate it, but yeah, do you think it is because i used contraband that it didn't work? that's the only thing i can think of? in the meantime i will try it with ones i have that are NOT contraband and see if that works, and if u don't answer by then, i'll get back to you and let you know if that was the case or not thanks again

I use a knuckle knife. 2 light blunt attacks disperse the swarms vs 3 slashing.

it does 4 damage per tick, so you would have to do 146 damage for the first tick to kill. is that what you are asking?
