Our feedback: Overall a really well structured video. We managed to create a colour scheme from watching the video it works! Nicely designed and little hints of humour are great too. I would maybe say put some music on in the background. Not essential but may just take it to the next level. Thank you for sharing though. Much appreciated.
Great question, so please remember this approach should be seen as a guideline and not something set in stone. So the 2nd colour should compliment the main colour, which usually means it should be quite similar. Opting for a darker or lighter version of your main colour is always a great approach here. As it leaves the room for error very small, even for someone with no design experience. Hope this helps and let me know if you need any further support. great videos! any idea about the pantone? because not all colors has its pantone.. and for printables , we must have the pantone for the exact same color for printing..
Thank you for this video, really helpful. But where will the downladed PDFs be saved? I just tried to make a color palette, exported it as PDF and it saied export was successful, but I can't find the PDFs anywhere on my iPad.
Hello sir, I have a question, the second dominant color is written as “complimentary” (or did you mean “complEmentary” with an E? like the opposite color on the color wheel?), but you picked an analogous color, almost green. Then for the third one, you suggest a high contrast color, which means a complementary color? but you chose blue, while your chart suggests red or pink (complementary colors for green). I am a little confused. Please help.
Your main colour should be picked first. Then pick a colour which compliments it for your second colour. Your accent colour should stand out from your main colour, but still look good beside it. You can use many different types of colour wheel and colour theory to create your palette. Just go with what 'feels' best for you.
This has been the most useful explanation that I’ve come across so far looking to understand how to select brand colors. But the website/app colors is not free, although you said it is? Or did I get it wrong?
It is indeed free to do the palette generation on the website! I first checked the App Store and saw that the app was around €3,50 but it is possible to play with the colours on the web version. I did today, following your great example, the only issue was that the generator didn’t give me that many options for yellow, so I ended up browsing quite a while without getting the good result. I need to give it more time, I suppose. Thank you so much for your quick reaction!

Keep it at five to keep things simple. Try not to over complicate as having more will lead to more complex decisions going forward with your application of the palette.
@@Humbledandelion In that case, get 5 and then use the curve of the colour spectrum to find different shades from darker to lighter. This will give you lots of different shade of the same colour to keep everything consistent
