I like the magic coffee also in the food court with a view outside the airport... coffee and beer are reasonable. The Thai food and noodle near the 7/11 is good too but not open early :)
Nice video Gary! It was really helpful and I'll certainly be putting your tips to good use soon. I love the video quality too by the way. Can I ask what camera set up you use mate? Cheers from Australia!
Thanks for your video Gary, I will be visiting my family in Bangkok in a few weeks but I will have to wait for my cousin to arrive 4 hours after me. I was at a list of what to do while waiting for her. Now I know!
Here in American we have google fi which allows to use my phone in just about any country in the world with no extra costs. Best thing is friend in my home country can call me at not extra costs.
Wowww that soup looks yummy Gary! My husband and I were there last Sunday @1:30 am 😱 Would’ve ordered that soup had we arrived in the middle of the day! Love this video and thanks for sharing 😊
@ feeling a bit overwhelmed in Bangkok for 12 days 😱 Cannot wait to head over to Pattaya, Udon Thani, Chiang Mai & Koh Chang 😬 We’re on a 3 months vacation this time 😂
Great guide to Suvarnabhumi, I will definitely be checking out the basement Isaan stall, I could almost taste that pork jowl! Are these places open 24 hours a day? Often flights from the West coast of US arrive late night-early morning, would love to land and grab some legit food strait away. Thanks Gary!
Personally I’d rather wait for a Grab instead of having the draining battle with the taxi driver when they inevitably refuse to put the meter on, that’s why I think the Grab pickup point is so much busier. Saying that I use the train 90% of the time due to the traffic. Will definitely try the street food place when I arrive next week!
Yes completely safe, it’s all I use now. I’m not saying that so you buy this one, shop around and get the best deal but they are the way to go in my opinion. You still have your original Sim in the phone so can use that at the same time. Just use the eSIM for data.
Thanks for this guide Gary, great vid as always. I come through Suvarnabhumi a couple of times a year and each time discover something new, lvl 1 food court, Gr floor, super rich, the grab stand. This wraps it all up nicely 👍🏼 One thing on the line up for Grab, I’ve had a couple of unpleasant experiences with taxi drivers trying to charge 500, even up to 800bt to get into town and refusing to put the meter on.. the most recent time, the lady directing traffic suggested I get the train 😅 which I did. Anyway, top vid 👍🏼 🇹🇭
I'm with you on the main food court. The price is good, but super crowded (especially if theres a tour group or two in there at the same time). I feel the quality of food isn't great either. I didn't know about the basement option thanks, will give them a go next time. Though i think having a 4 chilli som tam ahead of a long haul flight may be pushing stomachs a bit far 😂 at least you skipped the plaa raa.
Thank you Gary❣👍absolutely great Infos, and now I know to find tasty food before take off, our flight back is always at 1.00 a.m. , to have a last delishThai dish is for me a must have☝😋food in the Plane is truly not the best, i can skip it...
The reason why no one is queuing for the taxis is because over many decades before Grab and Uber, they've developed a bad rep for being scammers and conmen. It's hard to shake that image. Even now, when I flag down a taxi in the city outside the highly regulated airport system, I often get them trying to quote me an insane fare without turning their meters on.
As true as that is, it still deprives the honest taxi drivers of work and much needed wages, it's just a matter of time until tension simmers and the drivers will be at each others throats,it's sad that airport authorities didn't intervene on time, I doubt the Grab drivers get a fair share of the ride, wages wise 🤷♂️
I used it in Bangkok, it was rapid but I guess it depends where you are. I use eSIMs because I’ve lost multiple SIM cards and it’s a headache for me but the local sim in any Asian country is going to be cheapest for sure
39.1 is not a good exchange rate. 42 .80 isn't bad but Wise a currency transfer service offers 43.14 today 16/12/24. The baht has been as high as 47 to £1 a couple of months ago.
@@theroamingcook Yea I agree. Most Thai bank kiosks will give you the going rate. But can you really bring £1,000 cash into Thailand and would you want carry that much on you? My debit card will only allow withdrawals of £500 per day. Most you can withdraw from ATM is usually 30,000 baht some only 20,000. You use to be able to take your debt card with passport into a Thai bank and use their foreign exchange no fees and get the bank to bank rate.
@ yes even better idea! I forgot about the bank! I wouldn’t take a grand but I’m thinking of someone like my dad or uncles that are old school and only deal in cash haha
@@theroamingcook I am 68 so old school myself haha. However have lived in Thailand for 20 years. Last time I visited Suvarnabhumi International Airport was back in 2008. very low chance you will be scammed by taxi from the airport because when you get the ticket, the the license plate number is recorded in the system and printed on the ticket, which can be tracked down if you file a complaint.
