It’s so hard scoring the forehand backhand goals this year because of the L3 button plus right stick being protect puck. Every time I get a breakaway I accidentally protect puck. Also I find myself doimg fake shots accidentally clicking in R3. I really hope they change some of these controls

Ya it used to be the leg lift but I do find this year’s R3 a bit more sensitive but hang in there. Try to train yourself to be a bit lighter on the sticks. I’m also adapting but with practice, you’ll get it buddy.
@@tonechaser7174 The problem is no matter how hard you ''adapt'', accidental click will always happen and with reverse hit on R3 it's a terrible decision and the sensibility is way too high. I don't think I have ever missclicked fake shot before but I did the reverse hit a few times already and it's gamebreaking just like when thrusting for a speed boost and going with the skill sticks and it proc the protect puck instead. Bad move on EA part.

I actually like a lot of the features they added this year, along with some of the adjustments they made, but the major take back for me is protect puck being the same input as speed burst lol
It seems like every time they take a step forward they take two steps backwards lol
@@seguinryan Exactly some good idea but mostly introduced like shit. My biggest grip stay on the new protect puck on L3 and reverse hit on R3 because it directly interact with the gameplay, protect puck that overwrite skill stick if you use the boost is nonsensicale and reverse hit can proc at any moment for any miss-click. I cant beleive they came up with this and nobody in the EA devs team thought it was just plain wrong. Do I need to add that they nerfed to death dumping the puck.....whats going on...
I've been quite a lot on the nhl forum and the reasons/excuses behind these changes are to say the least, ridiculous...

Thank you for this video! As someone who picked up NHL for the first time this year and trying out HUT it is such a struggle. Even on pro difficulty i'm struggling.
gotta start off low then work your way up, I'm experienced and it helps get the feeling, also before you play go to practice and free skate to get the feel works great have fun
start at semi pro, once that gets easier switch to pro and do the HUT moments for practice and rewards

I personally struggle big time with this because for some reason I always trigger protect puck and then I can't move my stick normally it seems for an instant. Sometimes I'm lucky and it works, sometimes works despite the protect puck animation, but infuriating since protect puck should have been left on X when you don't trigger it accidentally.
Maybe it's my remote but I seem to trigger it 75% of the time unless I just glide and do the left/right but as shown in the video, not moving your player isn't very effective.

Same it fucking sucks. I hold puck all the way to forehand and back hand while cutting to the net and it triggers everytime. I absolutely hate this
That's an unfortunate new feature of the total control button layout.
The reverse check is a great idea, but mapping it to pressing the right analog stick was a terrible idea.
You can change the button layout to skill stick to avoid this, but you won't have the special shot macros mapped to the Y (triangle) or X (square), among a few other differences.
It does this with skill stick as well
My bad. I read this as a problem with clicking in the right analog stick because that's my biggest frustration with the new controls.

When I press R3 down, my player kind of jumps and lets go of a puck. What do you do different to have the “Datsyuk Move” any controller settings I got wrong?
Austin!! You've hurt my feelings. Hahaha. In EASHL I'll scream "CHEEEEESE" as soon as I see a guy head to the boards for the cut across goal. Then I'll do the left right left backhand move every time. Am I a cheese too?! Noooooo😅
as a dman i used to have to stand in the slot to prevent short side attempts. now i just stand near the goalie and watch people skate around trying to do this first goal. i give people a lot of time on attack, and if they were smart they'd shoot....but they're cheese. they're all cheese. lol
Im playing on Rookie to try and grind some stuff to build a free team and the rookie goalies make 60 saves a game on me 😩 i try and deke but they are crazy good even when they are down
Good tips! Could you do a video on how to score on pro in an actual game and higher difficulty teams for things like HUT Moments? Would be super useful as it seems this year to get good rewards we will have to do alot of CPU challenges where you dont get alot of breakaways.

On PS5, do you use the usb c cable or bluetooth for your controller? Im not sure which one has less imput delay and response faster👍👍👍

there isnt a noticeable difference in input lag between wired and wireless
How do you puck protect? I’ve been getting annoyed every time I hold A to protect puck it transition’s into a deke when I try to pull the puck back to shoot
You gotta click in the left stick to puck protect now so that and hustle are both the same button for some reason… very annoying but just something we gonna have to get used to I guess 🤷♂️
While sprint skating hold the puck to left or right.
Wrap around goals have always been the one constant glitch in nhl games….they make it too easy to score. I can play on the hardest level, make the computer harder , and still score 15 goals a game.

What console are you on? I have 2 buddies and we’re hoping to put a full lineup together. Myself and one of them have been playing since ‘13 the other guy is pretty new however and can be frustrating play with 😂
New game is garbage, it would be nice if EA had some competition or actually had their programmers playing the game. Physics is broken, their obsession with this reverse hit and the one button moves like the Michigan are just lazy. The goals we see are weak and you can already see the sole glitch shots, backhands. Their physics system is ludacris where it constantly jumps to the next stick and the goalies can’t save anything. A 200 lb man taking a run at a guy and bounces off ?
The goalie tether system is laughable, and they can’t make saves in position any way.
The list is endless. Quit catering to the lowest common denominator with the easy button moves and the lame goals.
Fix your servers, fix the defensive system , fix goaltending, quit putting hits with the same button as shots, and the setup needed to build your skaters/goalies across the board in customization? Lololol

When michis take less effort to score than actually aiming and shooting the puck. It’s not good. New goalie system is totally broken. Wristers never go in, yet a one button deke always goes in. And I honestly hate having to learn metas just to score a goal it’s so dumb
Good advice but you don't put into account goalie poke checking and a computer goalie won't really do that

It will lower the Pressure system (removing puck possession) and help human goalies with hybrid controls getting back in the game

left analog stick is Speed boost for me on xbox
so if I use the skill stick it will be the same as 23?

@@kebr0903 , there has never been EA hockey with realistic goal scoring mechanics. The only playable hockey was made by 2K , which unfortunately stopped it after PS2

Maybe if you like LT+A figure staking !! Skating backwards with the puck for 30 seconds + was just stupid ... beside the button layout it is the best nhl in the past 4-5 years (for me)
@@benpaquette2594I understand nerfing the back skate to an extent but dude you must not be great at the game to love the button layout. You like that you can just press one button and do a Michigan? You like that dekes take absolutely no skill and time to learn?
Never felt like the button layout was the issue lol seemed like a needless change. They made the goalie less retarded which is nice. There’s not just 2 cheese shots that automatically go in now which is tolerable. I like that players can’t just forehand glide and freeze the goalie every time. I like that hitting is less cheesy but the button layout is so abysmal. I haven’t been able to ditch the muscle memory from previous chels and it’s allowing trash players to pull off crazy shit by just tapping a button. It’s awful
@@diesel8907idk man I don’t really care about the one button dekes since I never really cared to use them anyway. I’m not super grindy anyway so I’m just fucking annoyed with the reverse hit button and the fact that it’s impossible to score a fucking wrist shot without setting up a zone first

I loath this game. They ruined it. Not worth buying anymore. It's so unfinished and so user unfriendly. The battle pass takes years to load after nearly every game. If you want to customize your skaters you have to load the store, which was designed like it launched on AOL back in 1999. It's EA Spork's biggest joke. On top of all that, designing the game to attract the Candy Crush/fortnight player base made it more annoying than it has ever been. Oh and the one button LaCross goal. Oh and despite cross platform, the user base is very low. Its dEAd.

This is the reason why hardly anyone plays this garbage online. No real life, hockey knowledge or experience whatsoever but you sit in a trailer on a futon with a fat bag of Doritos, watching videos like this to learn how to score glitch abuse, exploit goals because you can’t compete otherwise. That’s a fact.
I just miss the nhl games where you could score if you made a good shot. Now it’s all based on stupid deke metas and glitch shit. I hate it. I just wanna shoot wristers that might actually have a fucking chance of beating the goalie. But nah. Apparently that’s unrealistic.
