    So I'm about to do mine for the 2nd time. Leaked worse than it did before I "fixed" it. My kit didn't have the grommets either. O'reilly's now said they can order the kit that has them. I really appreciate the fact that you showed the torque sequence and values. It's not a bad job unless you have to do it more than once because you didn't do it right the first time. Thanks again for the tips and information.

      No problem Marvin.. I know my video quality isn't great and I don't mind. I just try and put common sense information out for others like me who don't want to pay someone else to do what We can do. Thanks for commenting, and watching.

    I really appreciate the video!! I'm going to attempt this myself with the help of my son. garages near me all averaging the price of $240 - so I'll see what I can do myself.

      Haynes Complete tear down and rebuild. Most parts stores will carry most of them, however sometimes you'll have to look on Amazon.

    Hey brother great video and thank you for the info. What's located directly underneath the sensor at 3:32? What is that part

      Thanks for watching. Just a poor middle aged man trying to save money lol.
      I'd have to look at it at the house for sure but it's one of the temperature sensors for the heater valve I believe.

      @@UA-camFanatic916 let me know how it goes man. Good luck!! The torque pattern is super important. As well as that gasket maker in the corner.

      @@RonFleener just those two spots for gasket maker correct? I'm also going to rent a torque wrench and follow that sequence

      @@UA-camFanatic916 yes sir. Two spots.
      Also like to add that for a solid week I left that Plastic cover off top and used a paper towel to wipe off the excess oi it seemed to take a week for everything to "dry up" around the valve cover. So if you do have some little lite spots don't panic

    Did your vehicle engine smoked before changing valve cover gasket

    • @RonFleener
      @RonFleener  5 місяців тому

      It was smoking off the firewall side. The oil was dripping onto the exhaust pipe (which we thought could cause a fire at some point) so that's what prompted us to tackle this operation.

      Ron Fleener how did your job hold up did it leak after the video

    Do I let the new gasket maker by time chain dry first before putting cover on?

    • @RonFleener
      @RonFleener  Рік тому

      I didn't. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't let it seal if you done it that way. The "wet" gasket maker needs to conform to the contour of the shape.
