Brother Alexander, the Gospel Of John is my most favorite book. About ten years ago it occurred to me that one of the many layers of John's Gospel was that it was an allegory of the restoration. The more I read, the more I saw the connection. The first chapter talks about witnesses, two brothers and three others. To me that looked like Joseph and Hryum and the three witnesses. The second chapter was about a wedding where they didn't have any wine. Six jars that were a fourth to half empty with ceramonial water. Think of what Joseph did. He brought forth 6000 years of new scripture...living water. Cleansing of the temple occured to me as what happened with the church moving west...all the enemies were gone. It just keeps going.

Wow 🤩 That was a powerful conversion story. My thoughts are that evangelicals have a lot of biblical knowledge to bring to the table. I just hope that he doesn't find too many dissenters and think that the church is just as fractured as the rest of Christendom.
They have a lot of biblical knowledge but they're never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. And that is because their core creed of the trinity is an abomination to the Lord.
@@IntoAllTruth. remember that the doctrine may be faulty but please remember that people are sincere seekers of Jesus Christ, even in their belief in erroneous doctrine. If we want to be seen that way to them, then we need to stop the condemning attitude ourselves
“Plurality of Gods: Three separate personages- Father, Son, and Holy Ghost- comprise the Godhead. As each of these persons is a God, it is evident, from this standpoint alone, that a plurality of Gods exist. To us, speaking in the proper finite sense, these three are the only Gods we worship.” Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R McConkie, page 576. 🤔 “I am the Lord, there is no other, there is no God besides me… I am the Lord, there is no other.” Isaiah 45: 5a, 6b. 😊😊😊
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let 'US' make man in 'OUR' image, after 'OUR' likeness... Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil... How is that wrong compared to worshiping something that exists, doesn't exists, is everywhere, is no where, is inside everything, is out side everything, is a single thing, is multiple things, is spiritual but not physical, is physical as well as spiritual, is in time, is out of time, Never existed yet always existed, etc. Along with every other contradiction out there from all the creeds that are not biblical. We worship God the eternal father. Our rather and creator. We worship Christ as our savior, that by his grace and love we can return to our father. We do not worship some creedal creation imagined up by man, but the true God as taught in the bible.
@ “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name (singular) of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (the Holy Trinity), teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20. Not only does authentic Scripture declare the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, but it also teaches us that there was no Great Apostasy. Score! 😃
“[Joseph Smith] was an authentic religious genius, unique in our national history… Smith’s insight could have come only from a remarkably apt reading of the Bible, and there I would locate the secret of his religious genius. …So strong was this act of reading that it broke through all the orthodoxies-Protestant, Catholic, Judaic-and found its way back to elements that Smith rightly intuited had been censored out of the stories of the archaic Jewish religion. Smith’s radical sense of the theomorphic patriarchs and anthropomorphic gods is an authentic return to J, or the Yahwist, the Bible’s first author.” - (emphasis added) Non-Latter-day Saint American literary critic, Yale Professor of humanities, HAROLD BLOOM --> How did Joseph Smith, a man with a 3rd grade education, know texts that were not revealed to the public well after he died?
I got this from someone really doing some research on the BOM that made me wonder. I'm feeling like the fruits are good in many areas except in places like Ether (first 5 chapters are interesting and Moroni's 12th chapter) but I'm really wondering how much of the BOM was plagiarized other than creative imagination mingled with scripture. Check this out... At somewhere around the 20ish minute message mark of the Callister video I reviewed, Callister begins raving about the Olive tree account in the book of Jacob in BoM: "Does anyone really believe that Joseph Smith dictated this off the top of his head?" Actually we don't! The ideation from the olive tree parable is simple: Romans 11:16-23 - Paul uses an olive tree. What are the clues here? Clue #1: Ensign ran an article on this allegory in August 1988. Toward the end of the article, mostly about Jacob 5, it closes (2nd & 3rd sentences from end) with this: • “Then how blessed will be those who have labored diligently in the vineyard, and how cursed will be those who are cast out! (See Jacob 6:2-3.) Recalling the mercy of God, who ‘stretches forth his hands unto them all the day long’ (Jacob 6:4), Jacob again exhorts his people not to reject the words of the prophets concerning Christ.” Well, where did Smith nab this line below and insert into Jacob 6:4? • “…he stretches forth his hands unto them all the day long; and they are a stiffnecked and a gainsaying people;” • Where? (It comes from Romans 10:21-the very last verse from chapter 10 and only 16 sentences away from when Paul starts talking about “branches” in 11:16) • Romans 10:21: “…All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.” {Smith uses the EXACT same words: “all…day long…stretches forth (his/my) hands…gainsaying people who are stiffnecked/disobedient.} So by Romans 11:17 (clue #2) , Paul says: • “And if some of the branches be BROKEN OFF, and thou, being a WILD olive tree, wert GRAFTED in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;” … (v. 20): “They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith” • So, of course, in Jacob 5:30, Smith is ALSO discussing “broken off branches” and a grafting process: “And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard and the servant went down into the vineyard; and they came to the tree whose natural branches had been BROKEN OFF, and the WILD branches had been GRAFTED in; and behold all sorts of fruit did CUMBER the tree. So Paul moves on to talking about “sparing” in v. 21 (clue #3) : • “For if God did not SPARE the natural branches, neither will he SPARE you. (v. 21) • And Smith matches that with his lines about sparing: But, behold, the servant said unto the Lord of the vineyard: SPARE it a little longer. 51 And the Lord said: Yea, I will SPARE it a little longer, for it grieveth me that I should lose the trees of my vineyard.” (5:50-51)” So Paul moves next to the cutting and grafting process (clue #4) : • “Otherwise you too will be CUT OFF. 23 And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.” (Romans 11:22-24) • Well, Smith brings in “cutting”: "And thou beheldest that I also CUT DOWN that which CUMBERED this spot of ground, that I might plant this tree in the stead thereof.” (Jacob 5:44) (And he goes on and on about grafting-mentioning “graft” 23 times and “grafted” 8 times!) So where did Smith nab this Biblical word “cumbered” from? (Clue #5) • “…why cumbereth it the ground?” (Luke 13:7) • “…they shall not cumber the ground…” (Jacob 5:49) • “…that they cumber not the ground…” (Jacob 5:66) So Smith works “cumber” (5x) and “cumbered” (once) into the narrative. But he didn’t stop with Luke 13:7. No, he had to work in Luke 13:8 about digging and dunging: • “…I shall dig about it, and dung it:” (Luke 13:8) • “…I have digged about it… and I have dunged it…” (Jacob 5:47) • “…dig about them, and prune them, and dung them…” (Jacob 5:64) • “…dug about it, and dunged it;” (Jacob 5:76) And this passage was EXACTLY referenced in my first comment in this thread about Smith using an immediate “rebound” technique where he goes into overdrive mode to simply repeat and fill up space! You see a good communicator knows not to inundate the listener/reader with endless repetition. Yet Smith does that by taking an eight-verse allegory by Paul in Romans 11, mixing in a little about digging and dunging from Luke 13:7-8, and pruning branches from John 15:2. (Clue #6) Yet in a 77-verse chapter, how many times do we see the following words? • Vineyard: 92 (Jesus IS the Vine, and the Father the Husbandman in KJV, John 15:1…and a pruning process in the vineyard is described starting in v. 2…and Jesus mentions bearing fruit in verses 2, 4, 5, and 8). So, has does this overkill continue to play out in a mere 77-verse span (Clue #7 about Smith's overwrought story-telling tendancies)? (Words listed by # of mentions) • Branch/branches (102 times: Branch 54; Branches 48) • Tree (68) • Fruit (67) • Servant (35) • Nourish/nourished (34: Nourish: 19; Nourished 16...btw, Smith was no "dummy" on this process...he uses these two words 34 times...in modern versions of Romans 11:17, "fatness" is describing as a "nourishing root." • Graft 23 • Root 23 • Wild 21 • Israel 18 • Olive 10 • Prune 9 • Cumber/cumbered 6 I mean, Jacob just got done saying in 4:1: • “…I cannot write but a little of my words, because of the difficulty of engraving our words upon plates” So despite these very difficulties, Jacob is going to overwork these 13 keywords into this allegory 508 times in 76 verses? Really?
4. The Book of Mormon is silent on the teaching that marriage is a requirement for a person to gain celestial glory. Joseph Smith said: Except a man and his wife enter into an everlasting covenant and be married for eternity, while in this probation, by the power and authority of the Holy Priesthood, they will cease to increase when they die; that is, they will not have any children after the resurrection. But those who are married by the power and authority of the priesthood in this life, and continue without committing the sin against the Holy Ghost, will continue to increase and have children in the celestial glory (History of the Church 5:391). Yet, except for reciting Matthew 5:32 in 3 Nephi 12:32 and two other places (3 Nephi 22:1, 4 Nephi 11), the concept of marriage is ignored. This seems strange when it is considered how vital marriage is to Mormons today. If God thought marriage was so important, surely he would have wanted the Nephites to know about this. 5. The Book of Mormon teaches that, generally, polygamy is wrong. Second LDS President Brigham Young taught: The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy (August 19, 1866, Journal of Discourses 11:269). Men marrying multiple women was practiced in the latter-half of the 19th century and considered an “essential” doctrine for any man who wanted to gain exaltation. It was never intended by these early leaders to have this practice abolished, as future fourth President Wilford Woodruff said, If we were to do away with polygamy, it would only be one feather in the bird, one ordinance in the Church and kingdom. Do away with that, then we must do away with prophets and Apostles, with revelation and the gifts and graces of the Gospel, and finally give up our religion altogether and turn sectarians and do as the world does, then all would be right. We just can’t do that, for God has commanded us to build up His kingdom and to bear our testimony to the nations of the earth, and we are going to do it, come life or come death. He has told us to do thus, and we shall obey Him in days to come as we have in days past ( December 12, 1869, Journal of Discourses 13:166). Mormonism no longer teaches plural marriage for this life despite the fact that it was such an important teaching in the 19th century. Polygamy is contrary to what the Book of Mormon teaches: Jacob 2:24-30: Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord. Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph. Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old. Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none; For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts. Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes. For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things. Jacob 3:5: Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father- that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them. Never once does the Book of Mormon say polygamy would be allowed unless it was necessary to “raise up seed” (Jacob 2:30). History does not say that polygamy was ever needed for this reason, despite the belief of many that there were more women than men in the pioneering days. For more on this, go to Was Polygamy Necessary in the 19th Century Because There were More Women than Men? 6. The Book of Mormon never claims that humans or Jesus are the literal offspring of God and his heavenly wife. Apostle Boyd K. Packer said, The Father is the one true God. This thing is certain: no one will ever ascend above Him; no one will ever replace Him. Nor will anything ever change the relationship that we, His literal offspring, have with Him” (Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled, p. 293). BYU Professor Stephen E. Robinson explained, The official doctrine of the Church is that Jesus is the literal offspring of God. He’s got 46 chromosomes; 23 came from Mary, 23 came from God the eternal Father (As cited in the DVD The Mormon Puzzle, produced by the Southern Baptist Convention, 1997). Someone please point to a verse where such unique LDS teaching was ever given. Hint: It’s not there. 7. The Book of Mormon teaches it’s impossible to do vicarious work for the dead. Fourteenth President Howard W. Hunter explained, Furthermore, the dead are anxiously waiting for the Latter-day Saints to search out their names and then go into the temples to officiate in their behalf, that they may be liberated from their prison house in the spirit world” (“A Temple-Motivated People,” Ensign, March 2004, p. 41). Fifteenth President Gordon B. Hinckley wrote, Through living proxies who stand in behalf of the dead, the same ordinances are available to those who have passed from mortality. In the spirit world they then are free to accept or reject those earthly ordinances performed for them, including baptism, marriage, and the sealing of family relationships. There must be no compulsion in the work of the Lord, but there must be opportunity (Be Thou an Example, p. 131). Yet Alma 34:32-35 clearly explains that there are no “second-chances” to obtain salvation. It says, 32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors. 33 And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed. 34 Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world. 35 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked. Using this passage, twelfth President Spencer W. Kimball wrote, . . . the time to act is now, in this mortal life. One cannot with impunity delay his compliance with God’s commandments (The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 10, italics in original). A Mormon who holds that work is efficacious for their dead relatives cannot find any support in the Book of Mormon for these temple practices.

In what way? The video is of David Alexander and Rod Meldrum talking about the scriptures and other things. "Book of Mormon Evidence" is the name of the channel.
They already changed the title from when it was first posted, it said something about the Church being a cult. Book of Mormon Evidence shouldn't even come close to eluding about something like that. I did listen to and enjoyed watching this video.
"Mormons are an evil cult" is what Alexander said before he was a menber of the Cnurch. No deception at all. Thats what he believed. Their discussion was then about coming to Christ through the Bible and the BofM.
Nope. But if you want to visit his channel : David Alexander you will get it direct. Hundreds of videos where he shares his testimony in exhaustive long and refreshingly short versions.
No relationsip. Rod does not believe in Bigfoot at all. He believes the BofM most likely began in North America and then the Lamanites spread throughout North, South and Central America.
First time I heard him was when he came down and spoke in the St George tabernacle around 2010. He showed all kinds of nutty BoM Heartland theories. I walked out laughing by the end.

Peter said that every prophet since the world began has taught about the restoration in the last days. But Christians won’t have it.

Jude taught to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the Saints..the Restoration is not necessary
Odd when christians won't believe Jesus.
A Restoration is absolutely necessary! The *Bible* teaches it!

If by “evangelical” you mean life long cult member. Yes he is
@@IntoAllTruth. remember that the doctrine may be faulty but please remember that people are sincere seekers of Jesus Christ, even in their belief in erroneous doctrine. If we want to be seen that way to them, then we need to stop the condemning attitude ourselves
Where can I get an "updated" Book of Mormon like you gave David. It looks wonderful,
“Plurality of Gods: Three separate personages- Father, Son, and Holy Ghost- comprise the Godhead. As each of these persons is a God, it is evident, from this standpoint alone, that a plurality of Gods exist. To us, speaking in the proper finite sense, these three are the only Gods we worship.” Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R McConkie, page 576. 🤔
“I am the Lord, there is no other, there is no God besides me… I am the Lord, there is no other.” Isaiah 45: 5a, 6b. 😊😊😊
Get a life Ahab
@ You should indeed! 😜
Smith’s radical sense of the theomorphic patriarchs and anthropomorphic gods is an authentic return to J, or the Yahwist, the Bible’s first author.” - (emphasis added) Non-Latter-day Saint American literary critic, Yale Professor of humanities, HAROLD BLOOM
--> How did Joseph Smith, a man with a 3rd grade education, know texts that were not revealed to the public well after he died?
I need one of those annotated editions
I got this from someone really doing some research on the BOM that made me wonder. I'm feeling like the fruits are good in many areas except in places like Ether (first 5 chapters are interesting and Moroni's 12th chapter) but I'm really wondering how much of the BOM was plagiarized other than creative imagination mingled with scripture.
Check this out...
At somewhere around the 20ish minute message mark of the Callister video I reviewed, Callister begins raving about the Olive tree account in the book of Jacob in BoM: "Does anyone really believe that Joseph Smith dictated this off the top of his head?"
Actually we don't!
The ideation from the olive tree parable is simple: Romans 11:16-23 - Paul uses an olive tree.
What are the clues here?
Clue #1: Ensign ran an article on this allegory in August 1988. Toward the end of the article, mostly about Jacob 5, it closes (2nd & 3rd sentences from end) with this:
• “Then how blessed will be those who have labored diligently in the vineyard, and how cursed will be those who are cast out! (See Jacob 6:2-3.) Recalling the mercy of God, who ‘stretches forth his hands unto them all the day long’ (Jacob 6:4), Jacob again exhorts his people not to reject the words of the prophets concerning Christ.”
Well, where did Smith nab this line below and insert into Jacob 6:4?
• “…he stretches forth his hands unto them all the day long; and they are a stiffnecked and a gainsaying people;”
• Where? (It comes from Romans 10:21-the very last verse from chapter 10 and only 16 sentences away from when Paul starts talking about “branches” in 11:16)
• Romans 10:21: “…All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.” {Smith uses the EXACT same words: “all…day long…stretches forth (his/my) hands…gainsaying people who are stiffnecked/disobedient.}
So by Romans 11:17 (clue #2) , Paul says:
• “And if some of the branches be BROKEN OFF, and thou, being a WILD olive tree, wert GRAFTED in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;” … (v. 20): “They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith”
• So, of course, in Jacob 5:30, Smith is ALSO discussing “broken off branches” and a grafting process: “And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard and the servant went down into the vineyard; and they came to the tree whose natural branches had been BROKEN OFF, and the WILD branches had been GRAFTED in; and behold all sorts of fruit did CUMBER the tree.
So Paul moves on to talking about “sparing” in v. 21 (clue #3) :
• “For if God did not SPARE the natural branches, neither will he SPARE you. (v. 21)
• And Smith matches that with his lines about sparing: But, behold, the servant said unto the Lord of the vineyard: SPARE it a little longer. 51 And the Lord said: Yea, I will SPARE it a little longer, for it grieveth me that I should lose the trees of my vineyard.” (5:50-51)”
So Paul moves next to the cutting and grafting process (clue #4) :
• “Otherwise you too will be CUT OFF. 23 And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.” (Romans 11:22-24)
• Well, Smith brings in “cutting”: "And thou beheldest that I also CUT DOWN that which CUMBERED this spot of ground, that I might plant this tree in the stead thereof.” (Jacob 5:44) (And he goes on and on about grafting-mentioning “graft” 23 times and “grafted” 8 times!)
So where did Smith nab this Biblical word “cumbered” from? (Clue #5)
• “…why cumbereth it the ground?” (Luke 13:7)
• “…they shall not cumber the ground…” (Jacob 5:49)
• “…that they cumber not the ground…” (Jacob 5:66)
So Smith works “cumber” (5x) and “cumbered” (once) into the narrative. But he didn’t stop with Luke 13:7. No, he had to work in Luke 13:8 about digging and dunging:
• “…I shall dig about it, and dung it:” (Luke 13:8)
• “…I have digged about it… and I have dunged it…” (Jacob 5:47)
• “…dig about them, and prune them, and dung them…” (Jacob 5:64)
• “…dug about it, and dunged it;” (Jacob 5:76)
And this passage was EXACTLY referenced in my first comment in this thread about Smith using an immediate “rebound” technique where he goes into overdrive mode to simply repeat and fill up space! You see a good communicator knows not to inundate the listener/reader with endless repetition. Yet Smith does that by taking an eight-verse allegory by Paul in Romans 11, mixing in a little about digging and dunging from Luke 13:7-8, and pruning branches from John 15:2. (Clue #6)
Yet in a 77-verse chapter, how many times do we see the following words?
• Vineyard: 92 (Jesus IS the Vine, and the Father the Husbandman in KJV, John 15:1…and a pruning process in the vineyard is described starting in v. 2…and Jesus mentions bearing fruit in verses 2, 4, 5, and 8).
So, has does this overkill continue to play out in a mere 77-verse span (Clue #7 about Smith's overwrought story-telling tendancies)? (Words listed by # of mentions)
• Branch/branches (102 times: Branch 54; Branches 48)
• Tree (68)
• Fruit (67)
• Servant (35)
• Nourish/nourished (34: Nourish: 19; Nourished 16...btw, Smith was no "dummy" on this process...he uses these two words 34 times...in modern versions of Romans 11:17, "fatness" is describing as a "nourishing root."
• Graft 23
• Root 23
• Wild 21
• Israel 18
• Olive 10
• Prune 9
• Cumber/cumbered 6
I mean, Jacob just got done saying in 4:1:
• “…I cannot write but a little of my words, because of the difficulty of engraving our words upon plates”
So despite these very difficulties, Jacob is going to overwork these 13 keywords into this allegory 508 times in 76 verses? Really?
I KNOW THE CHURCH IS TRUE. THE TRUTH IN IN BIBLE AND BOOK OF MORMON WHICH TESTIFY THAT JESUS IS CHRIST.

Key points about this verse:
"Darkness" represents sin and spiritual ignorance .

"Light" represents salvation and the presence of God .

This verse emphasizes that through faith in Jesus Christ, people are moved from a state of spiritual darkness to a state of light.
