I think there's a big difference between what people think e36s are worth and what people will actually pay. The ones listed for sale over 10k (and even a lot under) seem to sit on the market for a very long time. They're just not as desirable as a lot of people make out. If someone has 10-15k in the pocket to spend on a car, there are just so many more attractive options.
In the UK prices for all used cars are ridiculous. E36's are a joke when you look at the market now ... 10k plus for loads of 323, 325 and 328s, CRAZY money, all with 150k plus miles. All suspension will be knackered, I can't get over how bad the used market is right now. Everyone wants top dollar prices for cars that are honestly a heap of junk. Sucks as I'm looking to move on from my Fiesta ST, and for 10k I could get out of a 17 plate low miles 240bhp car, modded, well looked after and in good nick, and jump into something that does 0-60 in the time i'll get to 100mph, with 160k miles, rust, etc etc. Madness!
It’s been 30+ years since the e30 was in production and about to be 30 years since the e36 was in production. Sure there was “hundreds of thousands” made but how many are still around, and how many are still around that are actually clean, well maintained and taken care of. If you guys don’t want to pay what the car is worth go for a commuter car. Why bitch at the people selling the car when they’re selling it for what it’s worth. And you guys have to remember how much the msrp was for these cars. They sold for 44k in the 90’s. Adjusted for inflation that’s in the 100k in 1990 and a 87k in 1996. These were NOT cheap cars, yet everyone expects to get these cars for 5k 😂 that’s fucking insane, 2020 corollas for go more, shit 2018 Camrys go for more money. Again go for a cheap 2000’s Camry if you want a cheap car. Stop trying to buy bmw from the 90’s and expect to pay almost nothing
In QLD I have e46 325ci and e36 318is m44b19 I'm selling the e46 because e36 is that much more fun. Less refined but less mechanical grip makes for a lot more fun E36 is goated
Have owned US E36 M3 for 13 years. Purchased for $8k w 80k miles at that times. Just paid $25k for a techno violet coupe M3 from same owner for 22 years. I get thumbs up and compliments everywhere I go. The car is ultra easy work on, has been amazingly reliable and has great aftermarket support. Win win.
I'm going on 5 years of daily driving on the orginal cooling system. When I do replace it the only thing I'm gonna change is the electric fan,but everything else is OEM
Me watching this after already buying a M52 swapped compact: 👁️👄👁️ Edit: if you want a fast E36, buy any diff between 3.46 or 4.44. Easy “power” (you sacrifice highway comfortably and top speed the shorter the gearing you go)
I live in the Netherlands and 2 weeks ago i bought my second BMW e36 320i with original 95.000miles on it. Completely rare, and everything original. For €3500,00. But you have to be lucky to buy something special like this, for a good price.
Great vid! I think it probably is slow for enthusiasts, but the 7ish sec 0-60mph/0-100mkmph of the 328i is still pretty respectable and is higher than the average new car. My 5th con would've been the quality of the interior. The seats are great, but the door cards suffer from sag, clips get brittle and snap, roof lining sags, and the centre console, particularly around the armrest and handbrake, is normally creaky.
Very good take. I was going to include something about the interior but the other ones got to me more. Thankfully a lot of bits in my interior have been changed out
I hear a certain someone has a pizza pasta bar in Adelaide, apparently there’s a chop shop out back with stolen BMW parts and shells…. Goes by the name of Mr Massage
thank you pat. looking at buying a 325i or ci from 2001. they both have decent miles and are going for good prices. i just don't know a whole lot about cars and this would be my first sports car. i already drive a stick, but its just an old Honda accord nothing fancy. i really don't know much about working on cars, and i know these require a lot of care. i have multiple friends that know cars well, and 2 that drive old bmws themselves. so i think i would be in good hands. as long as i keep my current daily that is reliable and in great condition, do you think its worth buying an old bimmer like this? thank you for your information. it was very helpful.
m52s usually dont loose their power if taken care of and the b25 is infamous for having around 180hp even stock form. easy tuning upgrade to 190ish with the well known m50b25 intake mani swap..also check your vanos if it feels sluggish below 5000 rpm. they do wear overtime. if you can do the works urself, it is one of the cheapest cars to own because new and used parts are so plentiful..
Pretty sure the 7 series or 5 series would be considered the flagship sedan at the time of the e36...some may consider the 7 series a limousine in which case the flagship would be the 5 series. The 3 series has always been considered the sporty car you can daily drive...not a flagship. The earlier 3 series are actually more comparable to the current 1 series.
You missed one other con - those cars are not very safe. Both passive and active safety is quite poor, the structure collapses quite dramatically upon impact and there is no stability control of any sort. While being light and rewarding in driving compared with, say, E46 (which might feel ponderous) the safety of the latter is much better.
If you want a project car in 2024, yes get an E36. It's a lovely car. If you looking to get one for practical use, then noooooo. I have one and I love it but there are other options that you'll be able to do a lot to on a budget. If you're budget is unlimited. Get one and keep the E36 projects flowing😊
Just bought 3 of them. 320i tidy Manuel with a extra 2.8 $5000 318i auto ..mint fuel tank leaks from the link pipe nice mags and after market h lights. $100 328i auto. Gearbox says No factory bottle cap mags $300 Building a gravel rally car Google 400 HP BMW rally car has a s54 in it.. Ps that is not my car. But that's what it will become
Thats not many around, thats plenty of it all modified, not genuine, with turbos, and body changed ,with not original mags.., interior changed, Thats only a few around this planet, genuine, unmolested, and totally original..,expecially M 3.
e30s are still fairly Cheap….they get listed high but no one buys them even in america for those prices. People think all cars are a stock investment lol 😂 They made these in the hundreds of thousands

Of the 2,845 E36 M3 Coupe 3.2L models sold in the UK, only 847 remain - 197 registered on the road, 657 SORN (not licensed to drive). If that's how many are left of the high end model then I'm sure a way higher percentage of the "regular models" are no longer around. They weren't suited to the weather here and a lot rusted, loads fell victim to the 2009 scrappage scheme, and many will have been written off buy enthusiasts buying as first cars and conversion to drift and race cars in the mid 00's as they were cheap and easy to work on. I'm sure a huge number of E30's succumbed to similar fates.

Absolutely! However as time goes on and these get older, I think clean examples will start to fetch a premium, just not yet.

That goes for alot of cars people are selling right now lol its not 2022 anymore
@@FELIPE8226M I know but there's no reason anymore for the market to be this way. It's genuinely mental

Great looking E36!
Thanks my friend!
I hear a certain someone has a pizza pasta bar in Adelaide, apparently there’s a chop shop out back with stolen BMW parts and shells….
Goes by the name of Mr Massage
Since you upgraded your coolant system, you should've also put a Stewart High Performance water pump on.
Love the E36 M3
Clean E36 bro🔥🔥🔥
Thank you man!
I would like to mention, it is the best and the cheapest car you could buy to do drifting. E46 also. ;)
Nice review, E36 are fun cars to have on club permit for weekend drives, grab one while u can 😆😆😆
Too true!
If your willing to put in the maintenance & care for E36 than yes. However, if it’s too much stick with Toyota or Honda for simplicity.

Great comment man! The engine is such a strong motor even at the age mine is at

No, but looking one in the first place is a matter of intrigue, not value
2:30 if this was filmed in America, she would have called the police
Her fault for walkin' in the camera frame.
e30s are still fairly
Cheap….they get listed high but no one buys them even in america for those prices.
