Through the years, right handers have tried to teach me how to crochet and I would get frustrated and give up. Now that I am semi-retired I decided I wanted to try again. Your videos have helped me a lot ! We have a new grandbaby coming this fall and I wanted to crochet a baby afghan.
Congratulations on the future grand baby Jackie! I have many more baby blankets to choose from here: ua-cam.com/play/PLoIugZBYOS0VMMo45FxyUH1baNFh3XIqY.html
I can appreciate the fact that this was soo easy to follow as a left handed beginner who started two weeks ago I was able to follow this no problem and caught on right away heck I didn’t even know how to double crochet before this
I’m new to crocheting and love this pattern. And I just subscribed to your channel after seeing that you have so much helpful how to for us lefties! I’d like to give this a try alternating rows with different color yarn. Do you have a tutorial published that shows how to do that? Thanks!
Dumb question here: If I want to make this afghan to be 40-45 inches wide, then how many chains should I make for the foundation? I love your videos for lefties, Bonnie. You have taught me how to crochet.
Trisha Hukins that’s actually an excellent question! If you take the existing chain, just add 5 chains for every shell you want to add to obtain the length you need. By measuring a small swatch, you can find out how many you need to make.
Bonnie I know you mentioned starting with a chain of 109, but what is the formula if you want to make this a different size, smaller or larger, multiple if ? Plus add how many please? Thank you !
@@BonnieBayCrochet thanks, I actually want to decrease the starting chain for a bigger yarn, so any multiple of 6 and just start or do I have to add any chains at the end before I start? I'm not good at figuring this part out LOL Thanks again.
@@BonnieBayCrochet thank you. I was trying to get the starting point, rather than work backwards, so based on the math, your 109 was 18 multiples of 6 = 108 plus add 1 chain? So I could start with any multiple of 6 and do the same?
Hi Bonnie! Left-handed and no color changing pattern. What more can I ask? I don't like changing colors although I've done it plenty. What is the color name of this gradient yarn?
I wish it was as simple as this, but there are a few other factors to consider when calculating the starting chain. If you add 5 chains for each additional shell you would like to add to the existing starting chain, you should be fine.
@@cheyennesigman8576 then I would check to see where additional stitches are being added. This can often times happen at the beginning and ends of the rows.

Yayyyy for us lefties! Thank you for not leaving us out. I love your patterns!
Quilterbee Tarpley lefties are some of the most creative people on Earth! Wishing you the very best!
@@BonnieBayCrochet Yes they are. I've heard that they are smarter than right handed people. Don't tell your brother or sister if you have any🤫🤫🤫 😂😂
Thank you for the lefty pattern! Making a blanket for my goddaughter and I hope it comes out at least half as beautiful as you have made yours!
Gladys Fierro my pleasure!😊❤️
I agree! Yay for us lefties! This was my first time watching your video's. I am almost half way finished this lovely pattern
Thank you!
How can I add more rows to the beginning of the blanket?

I do have a color changing video here from many years ago: ua-cam.com/video/X5gXFrDS0bk/v-deo.html

@@BonnieBayCrochet Thanks ❤❤❤
I started making this baby blanket in solid white (Lion Brand pound of love) I will add a lovely border to make it a christening blanket.
@@BonnieBayCrochet so the Chain pattern is increments of 5, plus 4?
@@amandaprewitt949 To make this blanket wider simply add multiples of 6 to the existing starting chain.
Ok so are we to repeat the pink row again or is the green 💚 row the only one repeated?
If I wanted to make it 52x70 how many chains would I start with?
Bonnie I know you mentioned starting with a chain of 109, but what is the formula if you want to make this a different size, smaller or larger, multiple if ? Plus add how many please? Thank you !
You can add multiples of 6 to the original starting chain.

I believe it is Retro Stripes.
I know you say chain 109 but what is the multiple of? I think it might be 3 plus 4 at the end.

When are u going to aloud new member to your site.
Christina Auyoung-chong I’m not sure I understand your question.
hi! i am trying out this pattern and i noticed it is increasing in width how do i stop that
Was the starting chain too tight? You may be adding too many stitches at the end and/or beginning of the rows.
@@BonnieBayCrochet no chain was not tight at all
@@cheyennesigman8576 then I would check to see where additional stitches are being added. This can often times happen at the beginning and ends of the rows.
I'm off at the end. TWICE!
???No sure I understand.
Way too fast for the beginning stitches!
