Here's a little tip I learned about harvesting carrots. Before you "pull up" on the carrot, push it down. Pushing the carrot deeper into the soil before pulling it out of the soil loosens those little roots and increases the size of the carrot hole so you are much less likely to break a carrot. Beautiful harvest!
I have one carrot that I never picked its 3 years old and in a container. I get seed from it the flowers are big group and white really pretty I think. The darn thing is 50% on tp of the ground and its bigger than the biggest baking potato ive ever seen. Actually its probably 6'' across. I am going to see just how long it will live Im curious
first time gardener! and I'm LOVING your content! i threw a buncha stuff in the ground first time this year (with mild research) and am eager to learn! my beets are THRIVING in our sandy soil and part sunny spot (morning sun)
I had such satisfaction in hearing those carrots pluck out of the ground. At one point, I smiled like it was me doing the harvesting. Lol! And YES to God be the glory and thank you for giving him thanks!
Thank you for this video. I am fairly new to gardening. I attempted carrots last Fall and was not successful at all! I have ordered seeds from a few well known companies, plus the ones I've gotten from Lowes, but I have had the greatest success this Spring with Hoss Tool seeds. After watching the Lord's blessing with your carrot harvest I will be ordering these seeds soon to plant in my Fall garden.
I could listen to you ramble all day about the garden. I don't want to say I'm to young, but people my age just don't garden like people use to. This is my morning cup with garden talk!
Very exciting video, Rachel! You have become the gardening Queen! Those carrots are amazing! Congratulations, your hard work and diligence paid off and the Lord blessed. Thank you for giving Him the honor He deserves!
I enjoyed this so much - just like all the others! Carrots are a favorite of mine too. Thanks so much, Rachel, for giving God the glory! May He continue to bless you!
So cathartic to watch you pull carrots! My granddaughter asked a question while I was watching and I was like, "Shush! I'm watching her pull carrots!" lol - my own carrots do very well here in Northeast Texas and I absolutely love it! Harvesting them and getting a surprise with each tug! And I adore the sound of them being pulled from the earth! Personal relationship here with Christ, as well! I am frequently moved to tears out in my garden at the wonders He performs! 🙌❤️
WOWEEE! Love your HARVEST and knowing God! And thank you for saying blessed and not lucky. It is hard to learn that and YOU surely do KNOW! God bless you and Todd..... BLESSED in Pennsylvania
Wow!!! That’s awesome. We are completely new. Put everything in late 🤦🏼♀️. You inspire me to do more research on timing and soil amendment. I feel closer to the Lord in the garden😊
Hi Rachel. You did it again. Give yourself a pat on the back. You are Blessed, and yes God had everything to do with the garden. You are so sweet to have such a beautiful garden. God Bless you Rachel. Take care. See you later. Maria. Maria. 👍👍👍👍👍🖐🖐🖐🖐🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💗💗💗💗💗💗❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💗💗💗💗💗💗❤❤❤❤💗💗💗💗
Amazing carrots. Keen for mine to do their thing. I think I planted them at them wrong time again. Will give it another month or so to warm up a bit then try again :)
Thanks!! They are on my list of growing for more than just the tops this year! I'm jumping ahead of what you might do with them - but dehydrate those tops if you don't give them to the chickes - they make a GREAT green powder or carrot pesto!
Amen, I agree. I pray every day that the Lord will bless the works of my hands, whether it's working in my garden or in my sewing business. He has abundantly blessed my garden this year. I live in Florida zone 9b and I'm blessed to be able to grow year-round. 🙏 😊
Good Job! Those are beautiful. Appreciate your testimony also. You do such a good job amending your beds each year. Y’all are good stewards of the land. Bless y’all!
I haven't tried it but I've seen several gardeners sharing that they are winning the beatle battle using a dust buster‼️...then they feed them to the chickens 🐔
As I was strolling through my garden the other day, I thought exactly the same thing that you mention here! I felt guilty for feeling like...I grew veggies when all praise belongs to God. I have been trying to grow carrots for 3 years now. Every stinking time I plant them, they either do not germinate or they are so small it just isn't worth the time for them. I think God is trying to teach me patience.
Wonderful video! It's great that you give God the glory. I'm in zone 5, so haven't planted my carrot seed...I hope there's adequate time for them to grow and finish. I'm still covering my greenhouse seedlings, brassicas, tomatoes, melons, okra, and other vegetables and flowers with frost cloth every night. The days are warming up, though, here in southern Colorado. I learned, recently, that the carrot tops can be used to make pesto. My dogs love carrots as snacks, too, so I'll try to plant enough of them for us and the doggins. :) Happy gardening.
My ground is so dry & hard here in middle Tennessee, I’ll have to dig them out with a shovel. Not loose soil like you have. My first time for carrots. I’ll know better next year.
I would love a UA-cam Live stream, where people can ask questions and you can answer in real time, if that's something you might be interested in. This is our first year growing a vegetable garden, and our carrots are really taking their time. We planted the second weekend in April (in Mid-Michigan) and they're still only about finger size or smaller.
I could watch you pull carrots until sundown...every day!🌱🌱🌱 So satisfying! Still waiting for my first harvest in zone 5 Southern BC. So thankful for all that you share and you inspire gratitude🌼
Awesome harvest. I'm trying my hand at this in a raised bed. I always was told by Grandfather to hill up the dirt in a row, plant your seeds and barely cover them with soil. Then when they start growing, add more soil onto the top. Do you add any soil to the tops of yours. I can't believe I was in SE Michigan the past 2 days and didn't know you lived there. I absolutely love the videos you and your husband do! That would have been wonderful to meet you. You both have gotten me out if my comfort zone to can and prepare more foods and grow more foods. Thank you both! Love gardening.
You are the carrot Queen! I love your annual carrot harvest. So satisfying listening to those pops as they come out. 👍🏻 Thank you for the playlist as well! 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕
I grew mine from seeds indoors & transferee them to the garden in April. Mine still aren’t ready. I don’t see any sticking up out of the ground. We only had 2 small rain showers for 10 minutes, the whole month of June.
Thanks so much for this video on carrots. A lot of helpful hints here! You have a beautiful carrot harvest coming in. Congratulations on your success! You are blessed and highly favored, Rachel.
Carrots and tomatoes are my two favorite with cucumbers in a close third. I make homemade salsa and tomato sauce and juice and can them all then I make 4 different types of pickles and can them as well.
amazing harvest!!!!!! I had to smile when you said "I am not a fast processor"😊 I am always amazed at how patiently you do you proccessing and canning. when you watch people canning on youtube it looks so organized and structured. with me its still not a very streamlined process, to say the least😃😃
So emotional harvest. I haven’t had the blessing of growing an amazing carrot 🥕 like yours, but I will try this fall. Thanks for sharing and encouraging us to keep on trying. 😊
Your carrots made a satisfying sound when you plucked them out of the ground! 😊 Last year was my first year where I had a carrot fail so I'm really hoping for a good year this time. So far they're looking good, zone 4.
Your carrots look amazing!!! Carrots are my nemesis. I can grown amazing beets but not carrots. Ugh. I did see somewhere to pull carrots without them breaking them to push down and then pull. I have used it on some of mine and it does work.
I just tried growing carrots this year and its so exciting!!!! I have no clue what I am doing but they are about 2 - 3 inches long as far as I can tell. I need to learn more and definitely do it better for next year.
This carrots look sp delicious. I love carrots fresh out of the garden. I grew up in Sheridan Arkansas and we had a garden and the veggies straight out of the ground(after washing) was a absolute delight.
I did a bout of "curing cancer with carrots" juicing and what I would hae given to grow my own! I seriously had carrots come up white! Never figured it out as the package showed orange lol The carrot juicing near the amout in the "curing" book also does a reboot on brain health stirring creativity and problem solving! Plenty of green mass for composting too WTG
Well He sure did bless you with this crop. I, on the other hand, was not blessed. I have 5 carrots coming up. I was blessed with a beautiful cabbage harvest and bountiful potatoes. I love watching your excitement.
Hey Rachael I know this is an older video but can you please do a video (or a couple of them if needed) on all your beautiful flowers in the gardens? I have grown food for a long time but I’m focusing more on adding lots of flowers. I’m adding bees to our property and my mind is more on the pollinators in addition to the vegetables, Now more than I have ever done so in the past. I would be so grateful ❤
I’m so glad you give all the credit to God! You’re such a sweet lady! To bad we can’t help you with the work, instead of just the joy of seeing the products of your efforts! My favorite vegetables are peas and carrots! Thank you for sharing how you do this.
Your enthusiasm is infectious! I am so happy for your carrot harvest, it reminds me on last year I was so pleased with my Cherry tomatoes I only had 1 plant & every few days I brought in a bowl full…until I began to have quart bag fulls… I shared with a friend! This year I planted other kinds of tomatoes along with the Cherry tomatoes…I am hoping to learn how to make Salsa, and canned pizza sauces
My carrots died this year. I had thinned them and a few days later they died. That said we had almost 10 inches of rain in a little over a weeks time so I'm sure that played a roll. I ordered carrot seed tape so I hope I have better luck with a fall crop!
The sound of carrots popping from the ground…so satisfying
Better than popping plastic bubbles:)
So true
Mmmmm and the smell of the sweet carrots!
The ground is so hard in middle Tennessee, I’ll have to dig mine out with a shovel. Terrible drought in Portland. No rain for weeks. 😓
Am I the only one who could have watched Rachael pick each and every carrot?!
🙋♀️
🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Vicariously satisfying to see such beautiful carrots pulled from the dirt!
🙋♀️ me too. We are in the middle of our winter so loving the summer garden.
I was hoping to see her pop them all.
I must be an emotional gardener today, because you brought me to tears sharing your gratefulness to God. I am just as grateful for my blessings. 🥕🌞🥕🌞🥕
You took the words right out of my mouth. Blessings on you today.😊❤

Hmmm great information for harvesting especially in a place like ours where we harvest as the ground gets dry. Thanks for sharing.
I usually disturb the soil with a gardening fork beforehand.
Great tip. Thank you ☺️
Thank you, so much, for that tip.
I love that you give God the glory for your garden. It is truly He who brings the success. He’s awesome!
God is so good! He blesses the work of our hands! So good and rich, sister!
My eyes were popping out of my head when I saw how full your cart was. Holy cow. Those are some beauties.
I had the same reaction! I would be jumping up and down if I got that harvest.
Interesting!
It might be Dara or Ammi instead of a carrot?
Omg! Awesome! 😀🙌🏆
I gotta try this now!
That’s cool
So love to watch your video’s with no music, just the sound of nature. Could watch for hours 💕
Love your profession of faith! Amazing carrot harvest! You inspire me to continue trying to grow them!
amen and amen, God bless
I love that popping sound when you pull the carrots. 🥕🥕🥕
Apparently I need to take your carroting 101 class because that is one of the few things I can't grow. Love your videos.
Love that you give God the credit. Everytime I go to my garden I am thanking him for the abundance of veggies.
Nature is truly amazing, I will always be amazed at how plants start from a tiny seed 🥕
Agree, wholeheartedly! A blessing from God, indeed. 🌻
Us humans do too!! Life is amazing
Me toooo!
One of my three vegetables that I feel like I MUST succeed at this year is carrots! Thanks for the tips!
We have the same goal. Carrots, potatoes and onions are our three this year.
I enjoy her conversations when she’s picking her vegetables
I love the view we got from the camera when we got down right with the carrots awesome!
first time gardener! and I'm LOVING your content! i threw a buncha stuff in the ground first time this year (with mild research) and am eager to learn! my beets are THRIVING in our sandy soil and part sunny spot (morning sun)
I love when I hear people thank god for what grows in their gardens daily. It truly is gods blessing🙏🏽
I had my first successful carrot harvest this year. All because I watched your planting video for them! So thank you soooo much!
Pretty sure that Charles Dowding is jealous of that harvest... 🤔
He just may be.
@@justpatty7328 I was thinking the same thing. Those carrots are awesome!
All the glory to God for those beautiful carrots 🥕
Great job on the carrots. Look into danvers long. There's also a half long. They grow amazing and can easily be 3 fingers wide! Happy gardening
I had such satisfaction in hearing those carrots pluck out of the ground. At one point, I smiled like it was me doing the harvesting. Lol! And YES to God be the glory and thank you for giving him thanks!

What a beautiful harvest of carrots. Fun to hear the pop and I could watch you pull each carrot!! What a blessing to hear you give God the credit.
Wow very nice haul. I actually enjoyed you showing us after every time you pulled one out of the ground. It's like a surprise every time. God Bless.

Never knew carrots had to have sand ? Thanks so much.
WOWEEE! Love your HARVEST and knowing God! And thank you for saying blessed and not lucky. It is hard to learn that and YOU surely do KNOW! God bless you and Todd..... BLESSED in Pennsylvania

I feel closer to the Lord in the garden😊
That’s an awesome harvest of carrots…wow! Rachel, you’ve answered some questions I had about carrots in this video. Thank you 😊
Amen 🙏 I’m a first time gardener and if it not be for the Grace and Mercy of God it would happen ❤
I love that you give/gave God the glory and I pray that he continues to bless you.

Wow, what a harvest. Brings back memories of my Grandma canning carrots.
Harvesting carrots is just SO satisfying!
Amazing carrots. Keen for mine to do their thing. I think I planted them at them wrong time again. Will give it another month or so to warm up a bit then try again :)
Ive grow carrots in big fabric bags and have had great success 💚last year was my first time growing in ground and I loved it!
Thanks!! They are on my list of growing for more than just the tops this year! I'm jumping ahead of what you might do with them - but dehydrate those tops if you don't give them to the chickes - they make a GREAT green powder or carrot pesto!
God is great, indeed. I'm adding your fertilizer tips- before planting: bonemeal, compost, azomite, wood ash.
At planting: earth biolive. During growing season: twice with diluted fish emulsion.
I love the sound when the carrot roots break free from the soil. So satisfying. ❤️
Astonishing! Well done! Those carrots are perfect! Everyone's comments were very well said. Happy canning! 🥕👑💞
I love the fact that you proclaim your christianity.
Amen, I agree. I pray every day that the Lord will bless the works of my hands, whether it's working in my garden or in my sewing business. He has abundantly blessed my garden this year. I live in Florida zone 9b and I'm blessed to be able to grow year-round. 🙏 😊
I like the ground level shots!
I always soak beets for 15 to 20 minutes in slightly warm water before I plant. Great success. Love pickled beets.
Good Job! Those are beautiful. Appreciate your testimony also.
You do such a good job amending your beds each year. Y’all are good stewards of the land. Bless y’all!

Thank you so much This is my first year to grow carrots The information is helpful Blessing my sister Christian
I love it an abundance of carrots. My son's dog helped me plant carrots this year so they are scattered where I didn't want but growing well :)
I struggled with beets as well and found sowing them in cells and transplanting works almost 100% success rate twice now.
I grew mine from seeds indoors & transferee them to the garden in April. Mine still aren’t ready. I don’t see any sticking up out of the ground. We only had 2 small rain showers for 10 minutes, the whole month of June.

So emotional harvest.
I haven’t had the blessing of growing an amazing carrot 🥕 like yours, but I will try this fall. Thanks for sharing and encouraging us to keep on trying. 😊
everything looks so beautiful Rachel, you are a garden artist! God is good!
Your carrots made a satisfying sound when you plucked them out of the ground! 😊 Last year was my first year where I had a carrot fail so I'm really hoping for a good year this time. So far they're looking good, zone 4.
This is my first successful year growing carrots (zone 5a) and it's because of watching you garden:) Thank you! Your crop is amazing!!
What’s so beautiful is your 🙌 covered in that nice, loose, rich soil. Your carrots are a bright colorful BLESSING. Thanks 🙏🏼
Your carrots look amazing!!! Carrots are my nemesis. I can grown amazing beets but not carrots. Ugh.
I did see somewhere to pull carrots without them breaking them to push down and then pull. I have used it on some of mine and it does work.
Wow! Those are some nice looking carrots 🥕 Thank you for sharing this. Enjoyed this video! GOD Bless Y’all 👍🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻😇
Omg so hungry for carrots now ! Congrats on a great harvest!!
Your garden is beautiful! I love that you gave God the glory💕💕💕
What a great harvest! I love carrots! Well done Rachael. Much love! 💗🌷💗. 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕
I absolutely loved watching the joy on your face each time you pulled up a good carrot! 🥕 ♥️
This was my first year to successfully grow and harvest carrots. They are so delicious!
It's exciting when you pull something out of the ground. Like when I dig potatoes. Wasn't boring at all. Thank you 😊 have a blessed day
Those carrots are beautiful! Your hard work on amending the soil and seed spacing worked.
Hey Rachael
I know this is an older video but can you please do a video (or a couple of them if needed) on all your beautiful flowers in the gardens? I have grown food for a long time but I’m focusing more on adding lots of flowers. I’m adding bees to our property and my mind is more on the pollinators in addition to the vegetables, Now more than I have ever done so in the past. I would be so grateful ❤

This year I planted other kinds of tomatoes along with the Cherry tomatoes…I am hoping to learn how to make Salsa, and canned pizza sauces
Try An Oregon Cottage pizza sauce recipe. I think it’s good.
Have had great success in using pelletized carrot seed. Also plant 2 inches apart.
Your carrots are always amazing! Great job!
Another great video. I'm looking forward to seeing the garlic haul too.
Yes, me too!
My carrots died this year. I had thinned them and a few days later they died. That said we had almost 10 inches of rain in a little over a weeks time so I'm sure that played a roll. I ordered carrot seed tape so I hope I have better luck with a fall crop!
Amen, I love that you give God the glory. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Whoa baby...them are some nice beautiful carrots.. great job..
