  • Climate change is impacting abalone conservation efforts. From increasing ocean acidification to rising ocean temperatures, abalone across the Western Coast of North America are struggling. Today we are cleaning abalone tanks and collecting data on our abalone conservation aquaculture project at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory. Natalie from the UC Davis Aquaculture lab discusses our project looking at the indirect effects of rising ocean temperatures on abalone growth and development. We are curious how abalone diets may play a role in abalone conservation aquaculture for endangered abalone like the black abalone and white abalone, as well as red abalone, which are grown in low trophic aquaculture farms in California aquaculture.

Hi, I am an industrial design student studying at CCA and I am currently trying to design a water quality monitor for the California aquaculture industry. May I ask if I can do some interview with you?
