An intriguing (complex) concept....very ambitious. Based on my 48 years of professional experience, I offer this advice. CONCENTRATE ON THE BASICS......precise glue up, joinery/fit & assembly. This project is all about the 'build' with the turning almost an after thought. I don't have much experience with epoxy so I can only suggest following the manufactures recommendations for that material's use. I very much enjoy your channel and look forward to future presentations. Thanks, Lou
Hi Louis. Thanks for the advice. Maybe it’s life advice as well. Would be good on a teeshirt. I will definitely keep it in mind. Sage advice from someone with your experience is gold and will be treasured And yea to reading the instructions. I stuffed up in one piece not doing so. Got a tad concerned the workshop might burn 🔥 Brett
Hi Brett Wow,hey there I was thinking your videos were all about glueing up with PVA, now you’ve introduced hot glue, but really it’s all about the turning side of things!! Well done with this project that’s one hell of a turn, I guess it was all about maths at the start (after you had dreamt up the idea)a lot of setting out etc. Really look forward to your videos as you really do think outside of the box with your projects. Thanks for sharing Regards
Hi Mal. Glad you enjoyed this. Yea this was a major logistical nightmare piece. If I do that then I need to do this and that before else it would not work. Trust the sun is shining over there in the beautiful Coromandel There’s still time to buy shares in glue 😀 Brett
From the bottom of my heart, I think it is absolutely stunning. My mama’s one nick name was DAISY and she would have just been as crazy about it like me. She passed away January 12 2022.
Thanks Denise. The other reason is it’s so much easier to find a small flat surface than a large on 😀 I’ve been asked about where I propose to keep it. Will let you know when we complete that discussion
You’re very creative and brave Brett, much more than me. I’ll stick with trying to figure out bowl turning for now. I think a resin coat would be choice cuz it’s shiny and might fill the cracks. Take care, Stuart
Thanks Stuart. Will definitely put on my list and will let you know if I jump that way. I’ll tell you one thing. The epoxy makes a huge mess. Chips flying off all around the place and you can’t dump the shavings into the garden Thanks as always for your support. Hopefully the temperature is starting to become bearable again Brett
@@TurningStarkers unfortunately the temps in my area are hotter. Last few weeks it's been in the mid 90's and this week it's closer to 100. Heat index is around 105 during the hottest part of the day. These are Fahrenheit numbers so mid upper 30's Celsius I'd guess. Don't quote me on metric temps, weights or volumes. 😂 Has the rain let up?

Wow that was a big job must have been close to max capacity of your lathe, leave it as finished, imperfectly prefect is my view, it would look great at “Hotel Brett”
Thanks Darryl. J is asking me where do you think this will all go? It was a large project but not the biggest. That would be J’s sign. I’m not sure where Hotel Brett is but what’s life without a few mysteries 😀😀

Another impressive project. It really does look massive!
Thanks Rukshan. It is massive. Will let you know the actual dimensions later
Brett
Hmm so that’s where my bike cup went 😅. Now to figure out where we put your latest creation! Clever hubby ❤
😀😀😀 in my defence it was very handy. 😎😎
Didn’t know a coffee cup could be used that way but at least I learned something 😅
Thanks Stuart. It came down to that diameter looks about right
Didn’t think I would be caught out. 😀

Awesome! I really appreciate the complexity and scale of your project, Brett. Great work 👏👏👏
Thanks heaps John. Glad you enjoyed the project
