This will be a great watch! I work at our recycling center and usually get something cool every couple weeks, not a Video8 cool but you just never know like a pawn shop. Great video!
That Sony Video 8 deck is a full VCR with an analog UHF/VHF/Cable tuner. The Miricle Piano system was available for NES, IBM PC, Amiga, Atari ST, and Macintosh, they all used the same "Piano".
I had a lot of the gear when it was new, or at least the cheap knockoffs, and garage sales were great places to find cool expensive gear for dirt cheap. Got a B&O 4002 and the receiver that went with it for 50 bucks back in the day. I still have it, linear tracking goodness that I got working again.
I bought a Sony Betamax Recorder in 1977. It cost me $1000, and could record 2 hours on one tape. I then added the longer tape, so I could record for 3 hours. In the 90's I got the PS1 and got a Playstation Magazine Subscription. With each magazine, was a Demo CD of PS1 Games. I probably have 50+ of them in Playstation CD Cases. Fun Fact: Sony wanted to get into the game console market with Sega & Nintendo, so Sony was going to partner with Nintendo, and produce the Nintendo Playstation, but the day that Sony was to announce the partnership, Nintendo dropped Sony, and joined with Philips. Sony history was made after that! If there is a prototype Nintendo Playstation found, you'd be rich!
The BetaMax had a better picture than vhs but couldn't hold a typical 2 hour movie so it lost the format war. I ended up getting into SVHS and laser disks back in the day and had a Sony second gen 4 head vhs editing deck with hifi sound. SLV-676. It would show exactly what was on the tape head when paused in live editing mode so you could make frame by frame accurate edits. Buddy bought the SLVR-5 SVHS deck for a grand that also had the same editing setup. I couldn't talk myself into spending the money to upgrade. The 676 was 500 bucks by itself and even had audio level meters and you could set the audio recording levels. Was as good as a cd for sound.
The WiiU is insanely hackable and great for emulation and homebrew. Best part is you can play GameCube and Wii games on something with a native HDMI output and you can just pair Bluetooth or Wii controllers and ditch the stupid screenpad controller
Interested in some old dishnetwork equipment brand new in the box? 😂my son helped my dad clean out a old satellite shop and he’s trying to sell the stuff to make a little money. 😂 be cool to sell it to you. Got to be all early 2000’s brand new satellite equipment
If you ever see the game Fate it's a rpg, somewhat of a dungeon type game grab it. So much fun. *edit: it came as a free demo on a laptop I bought many years ago. I was totally addicted to playing it and one day I teleported to a level so deep in the dungeon that the laptop froze up so I bricked my laptop with the game but the operating system was Vista to give you an idea of how long ago it was.
The butterfly game you referenced reminded me of one from the Sega - Echo Dolphin. It made no sense, but game play sounds similar. For Bond? Man do I miss Quantum of Solace for the Wii, especially online play. And Melee is a great game in most of the iterations I've played. Thanks for the memories ~ Chuck
Where was he seeing Pricecharting say Melee is worth $90? CIB clearly shows just under $60. (edit) Actually, the "Best Seller" version is even cheaper than that, at $52 CIB.
I'm going to disagree on the Wii U being the worst console ever, but only if you hack it. A hacked Wii U is one of the best consoles. Also, you can play games with up to 8 people, which is too much fun. Specifically Super Smash Bros. with 8 people is fantastic. Also, you can use original Wii controllers with the Wii U so the cost of entry has always been super low. The separate controller is fine and you can play any game on screen somewhere else in the house. I'll reiterate though, it needs to be hacked to get full functionality. It is not difficult to do it at all on the most recent software.
If you dont want to keep that video 8 player,I would buy it from you. we have a ton of old home movies we would love to be able to watch them. Also will it play hi 8 tapes?
I had Nascar Racing that I played on my PC back in the day but I played the heck out of that game, so I think you will like it, need a wheel though, at least I do, I can't play racing games without a wheel and pedals.
Hey JR, I have a sizable laserdisc collection, few hundred disc and 2 players, I'd be willing to make you a deal, you have to pay the shipping, I live in CA.
You should plug this channel on your main one. This was randomly suggested on my feed.
Need For Speed 2: Hot Pursuit was one of the best PS2 games ever.
For real
Yesterday...Will never get old.. - Thanks.
Dude that's a really sweet haul, except maybe the games 😅. Use regular controllers for the Wii u, I almost never used the big one

I'd rather be at the recycler to find old Palm/Visor devices 💯
Conker's Bad Dur Day!

You're going to have to set aside a year to go through all those games and devices!
Still, great find and they'll make some great gifts! :)

You need to get a hold of a Sega with the Light Phaser gun. Its so fun to play.
The idea behind the Wii U controller was to be able to play games without the TV. You can see how the Switch evolved from it.

HDMI out with Wii games and no screenpad would be awesome! 💯
I spent like $500 on Sega Dreamcast games and mods for my Sega Saturn.... It all happened before I had a chance to stop myself

My deep dive ended with Atari ping pong. I missed out on all this tech growing up as a kid in the sixties and seventies.
My 9yo still plays my wife’s old 3Ds all the time.

Put Twilight Menu on the NDS

The WiiU is a great console it just had 0 marketing. LoZ Breath of the Wild would be a good game to try on it.
Congrats on your dust collector purchases. LOL Look forward to the full review of each!!
I have been looking for a video 8 player that works for a year now all I find is parts only or a price of gold
Should definitely hack the Wii U. It opens up so many doors for what the thing can actually do.
I like the wii u. I like that you can be watching a youtube onntv and still browse
I would buy a WiiU just to install Pretendo and play Super Mario Maker 1 levels. The challenges are better than SMM2's.
Put Luma custom firmware on the 3ds
A nice haul.
like subscribe get shirts like this we'll see you next time.

The pawnshop guy pulled out his phone and showed us the graded/sealed ones at the top 😂
That’s a good haul
Wait this guy used to flip cars or repair them or something. What the heck.
Man he looks and sounds like watch jr go on UA-cam:)😮

Early or late

Yo
That looks like NCAA Football not basketball
Where do you get the time to work on your house, cars and make videos about games? Do you ever sleep?

oh look a fireplace
Whats up john ross, you need to come out on the next car trek, that would be epic!!!
I didnt know this was a channel
still waiting for the PS5 controller to play San Andreas and Vice City on my phone (better work or 😪) and of course, Steam games too

I didn't know JRGO also liked old electronics as well as old cars.
Anything he can overpay for.
You have a twin on UA-cam! Like an identical
