I grew up in South Africa and lived in the country side no water or electricity . We had a big wood stove in the kitchen and a smaller one in the lounge. Was lovely to stand around it on cold winter days. I noticed however that the stove in the advert was dirty and unpolished. Our stoves were polishished and loved, and looked so beautiful. Shiny black and cared for. I learned to cook and bake on ours and we always enjoyed perfect cakes and bread plus the warmth.
I wish the world today learns to truly love the things they live with and that serve them, instead of just owning more and more stuff while not even caring about any of it as such. Doris is beautiful 🌸
I was 5 years old and went in holidays to an aunt with six children. The kitchen was huge and the Dover stove was the main feature for cooking, warmth, heating water. There was no electricity, it was lamps and candles. A HUGE pantry off the kitchen held delectable preserved, jams and homemade butter and bread. At 73 I'd happily go back to that way of living. It was in Clanwilliam. Still have family that side. Thanks for taking me back in time. 🌹💗🌹
So wonderful that this video brought back wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing this little story with us. Sending you warm hugs, Justine and Michael. 💚
I just got a beautiful Dover for my home and was hunting for some info and came across this. I think I feel this way already and it’s only been a few hours since she came home. Can’t wait to light my first fire
Awesome thanks guys for uploading this story, we live in Queensland and have the same Welcome Dover wood stove, I did some research and I think they were made in South Africa. It keeps our little home lovely and warm, I use it to cook on and if the house was our own and not a rental I would convert the hot water system. We love her and her name is Daisy
There certainly are enough Welcome Dover stoves here in South Africa, but I believe the Dover Stove Company was an American company originally. I actually managed to get hold of a Dover 6 just like this one, this morning and there was no doubt in my mind - load it and get it home :) - Especially since our Electricity supply company is about to die on us. Now to install it in a proper place, and to start the "relationship". :0
Lovely video. I've just lit out 'Doris' to cook supper on and enjoy the warmth. Identical stove. Only criticism is this video was too short! Please make another one soon!
Swansong18 - Sure we will try load up some longer films - if you want to see more of Joshua - here is the other short film we did with him - ua-cam.com/video/cJJ3MbOMGw8/v-deo.html
So glad that you enjoyed this story P.L. Sorry, but we made this film so long ago, before we starting keeping a record of the songs that we were using. So unfortunately, I'm unable to help. We hope that you continue to enjoy each new story that we share. Sending love. Justine and Michael x
@P. L. Maybe you could try one of those apps that recognize music/a specific song. Perhaps it would be able to recognize the music and give you the title - just a thought. 🙂💚
I wonder why i found this after 6 years..🤔...I think youtube also came to realizations...we need to go back and look what we have miss in our life 🤓..Give thanks ..NATURE..which we had took for granted and excuse 😃🐾
As mentioned before, we unfortunately cannot tell you Joyce. You would have to do some research - maybe ask at an appliance store or also check on the internet. We hope you will be able to find some info. Warmest wishes, Justine and Michael. 💚
I love these old stoves, but as a single guy, I'd have to make sure I never have to leave the house for something or good ol' Dover would go out or burn my house down..how do single people do this?
I have had a number of wood burning stoves to heat my houses with. As long as you keep the stove and chimney flue in good repair/condition I have never worried about a fire to burn my house down. Just crank down the flue if you are going to leave or going to go to bed and go about your business. Electric heaters, candles, oil lamps, and many other things are what burn down people's houses. Keep the stove in good condition and your chimney flue cleaned and you are good.
PS I do understand about being single and heating your house with wood stove. I have the same problem and don't really know a solution except to turn down the flue and try to let it burn very slow. One friend I had used an electric heater as a backup so when his woodstove went out at least there was some backup heat that would keep the house from freezing up.
Glad you liked this stove. But we are not sure where you can get one. You would have to do some research, we hope you can find some information. Or maybe check with an appliance shop. Warm wishes, Justine and Michael. 💚
@@markbeks2019 Well Pumpkin I can see it now. When it's not there and you can't see it, it is a waste of time. Commenting on my being unable to see the video leaves you desperate for something to same. Your welcome.

Love this & the music in the background is so the sound of the Dorris.
Thanks so much.
What country and is the gentleman South African?
Fond memories of farmlife 60 years ago ❤
Yes, this was filmed in South Africa. Glad you enjoyed it and it brought back fond memories. Warm hugs, Justine and Michael. 💚

Theres nothing like the warmth from a wood stove.
💚
Love this. Plus your dog is gorgeous🐾
You are so kind
Loved the story. Just as I was warming to Dorris, all too soon it ended. Wish it had been longer/RN
Love the music they are playing in the break ground! What is it???? I also think the family and stove are fantastic!!

We are not sure, Joyce. Sorry. You would have to do some research, hopefully you can find some information. Warm wishes, Justine and Michael. 💚
In townships outside Johannesburg the Dover is a status symbol
Thank you for sharing this thought Howard. 💚

I don't have one, but you get the other edge of the sword : it's so versatile you use it all day long to provide a family home

Lucky indeed 💚
I want a Doris,,,!
Nothing here, your wasting my time.
hahaa
You’re wasting (meaning you are), not “your”. I thinking you wasted some of your precious time in school, not paying attention.
@@judeirwin2222 Absolutely delightful response. 😊 I loved the video and wished it were longer!
What a stupid comment 😂😂
