I hate it when people say that going prior enlisted will make you a better officer. There’s only one element that’s important. Take care of your people. That’s it.
Experience can make you a better officer. And you can gain it as a enlisted guy, without the same responsibillity. I think sometimes its the better choice for a young guy and his future subordinate.
William Smith some of the worst officers can be prior enlisted. They like to micro manage thinking they know everything. And they don’t know to let their NCO’s do what they have to do. Wisdom and making wise decisions is what you want a leader to have with the background of wanting to to care of you Soldiers. There is no algorithm. Those two are the pillars you want from a leader. Experience can be bad experience. Hilary Clinton has lots of experience but she would’ve made a terrible commander and chief.
My two college roommates went different routes. One dropped out of NROTC our freshman year and did OCS after graduation and my best friend stayed in NROTC and did his commission after graduation and then went off to BUD/s.
I've met both types. Some prior enlisted officers are dirtbags, some are great. Some West Point or Naval Academy grads are dirt bags, some are great. Just depends on the man.
Hey Jocko, can you comment on the situation we have with the violations of the Constitution, and how the military/law enforcement has swore to protect the Constitution? Do you think enough is being done? I'd argue we need some healthy pushback and certain elected officials need to be forcibly removed from office ASAP.
What if you wanted to experience all branches of the millitary and not just stay a marine or be in the army or navy is it possible to go threw and become initiated into multiple branches of the millitary in one millitary career if so what would you have to do in order to do so ? Is it a requirement to have a voice like a bag of gravel to be an officer?
Yes. All special forces and seal recruits first have to do a VCSR (vocal cord sonic resonance) screening.
Yes.
