St. Louis Gateway Arch Theory (6:00); I do think its possible that it could be the Arch. Unfortunately, for those reveal items we will have to wait, since we don't have our watch graphic to give us a better idea, one way or the other. It would be nice, if the global lighting (where the shadow does look slightly askew from the sun) allowed for a better close-up. It does resemble the true weighted catenary curve of the arch. However, even with good magnification, you can't tell if the observation section (windows) were at the apex. The revealed underlying construction at the leg base is similar to the actual construction. The overall landscape doesn't resemble St. Louis; however, I think it could be easily dismissed by a mud puddle concept. Let's say both polar caps melted, whether it be from global warming, or a really bad solar cycle. You would assume that maybe tidal forces or current on a large body of water in the middle of the US would then also follow either prevailing winds or at the very least run swiftly north and south due to the Rockies. Once everything finally dried out, so to speak, you may be left with the cracked land that you see before you at 6:00/23:15. Most other buildings, depending on the amount of time, would have collapsed, and be buried under the dried muddy surface. The Arch was extremely well built and designed, it's a triangle before being a weighted catenary curve, able to support a lot of force from just about any angle. If memory serves, the outer cladding is stainless steel, which would have given it an added additional protection over other buildings with today's siding techniques (mainly aluminum and glass). I almost discounted it being the Arch when I saw the position of the sun compared to the arch. Then I went online and looked at varying pictures of it today, from differing angles and seasons of the year, and decided I couldn't use that as a reliable yes or no factor. Can't wait to find out for sure, regardless. =D
As a fellow Missourian, this is spot on and a great analysis. The arch is so iconic and I think anyone living here has seen enough historical research of it over the years that it's practically ingrained lol.
I originally thought it was the arch, but people have analysed the 2021 trailer and some diagrams on the wall show the exact same structure as an artefact, so it's almost certainly one of the alien artefacts rather than any manmade structure.
From other videos it sounds like your landing on a patch of world. You can't rocket pack around the world or even hundred of miles away. Seems like you're on a leash to your area. Then in the same video they mention that your can then fast travel back to your ship (teleport?) then fly to a new location on the planet. So restricted landing zones with limited exploration of maybe a few miles.
Really dug myself into mods with Skyrim and also Cyberpunk. Beth seems serious with modder support this time. Crutial they do not lock out independent and non monetary modders.
Not sure if I missed something, but I think the Sun orientation is off for the arch to be St Louis, disregarding the potential for some disaster to knock Earth off axis? Can anyone validate that?
No, you will not. No manuel flying through the atmosphere, no near ground flight, no ground vehicles. The community debates about the reasons. Many say it´s the engine. It might be, I think its a creative choice. It wouldn´t make sense to fly near ground because with that, you could kill all enemies with your ship-arsenal. And you have this environmental system. Temperature, radioactive stuff, air... With a ship or a vehicle, you wouldn´t have to care about these things that much. But yeah, it might be an engine limitation, too.
Isnt it crazy how bethesda went from a company that put a train over 2 human legs in order to make it move in fallout 3 to a company that implemented real time GI and and dynamic skyboxes for over 1000 planets in a game?
Just looking at those first few vistas etc is quite impressive, the lighting and the colouring was quality. I’m trying to not get hyped but it’s tough to keep a lid on it 😅
3:05ish... To me, it looks like a humanoid silhouette and the faint appearance... I wonder if it could be a Human Npc...? 12:50ish... Everytime... everytime I re-watch scenes like this, it feels so much like Space Skyrim. That awesome sound effect when the POI Name pops up can't be a coincidence. We are clearly meant to feel Achievement in our sense of Exploration Achievement every time we find these. :) (Then blow them to hell along with every baddie inside, loot them, plunder them, maybe wreck'em some more for funsies, then make the call to explore some more to rinse and repeat or return to somewhere to process our Lewt. ;P ) 13:30ish... Now that ya mention it... I wonder what the 'norm' will be in this Realm as to how much or little accurate Hip Firing will be compared to Aiming Down Sights... or if the Hip Fire in this game will be similar to Deceive Inc. and be unnaturally Laser Perfect and make one wonder what the point of continued use of Iron Sights and such on the Guns even is...? (To be fair, being capable of perfect accuracy Hip Fire is a cool thing to be able to do, it can just look weird if it looks TOO easy to pull off and no rational explanation HOW it's so possible accompanies it. Reasonable Explanation for it being doable, like many many XP and Skill Points worth of 'Training from Hell' to learn how to do it and really become a seasoned elite totally works, but it's just doable for no reason at all whatsoever and a Wizard didn't even need to did it, on the other hand...) 16:53ish... When playing Skyrim, I never could overcome my greed and packrating of Lewt... I hope I don't encounter the same problem in Starfield as well... I wonder if we can hire any Companions to travel with us specialized towards carrying mad amounts of Lewt... like for example a big Lewt Carrying Bot...? (Think along the lines of Deep Rock Galactic's "Molly"!) 18:44ish... I can't be the only one pondering habitually setting Vasco to Guard the Ship while ya Planet/Moon Trot. Also wonder how much Armor he has...? He'll be a super useful Guard if he can defy enemies' potential efforts to Snipe him... especially his Head.
It would be really cool if planet hearth had the shape and some of the main monuments of the countries like the great wall of china, eiffel tower, big ben, the argentinian obelisk, etc
Todd Howard: "It's over a thousand worlds." Me: " Really? I thought it was only a thousand." Edit: 8:46 aren't those the same fern models from Skyrim? Foot steps also seem to be roughly the same. Maybe updated but then again its foot steps. Probably just added new variants.
If getting in the ship is any indication, the shipboard ladders will most likely be "click here to ascend" style of system. At least it seems we can just get into our cockpit directly from the ramp, so even a vertical monstrosity like the Optimus ship is just one click from taking off
The landing area is probably also an exploration area beyond which you cannot continue exploring without re-landing. Compared to distances between Skyrim cities or Fallout four settlements, how large will this landing/exploration area be? Will it be a square tile or a circular perimeter? ..
I'm not worried about the game, I know it's going to be great, but I'm worried about the media haters and they might lower the number just to ruin the Xbox's reputation.
I still think the claim that they "completely overhauled" the combat is an exaggeration. It seems like they mostly showed higher level weapons, and a larger variety of them; so enemies died faster. They also put together a more compelling collection of short highlights instead of a single longer stretch of gameplay. This isn't a complaint. I thought the combat looked fun in the first place. A little bit slower and more tactical. I kind of hope that it's still possible to play that way.
18:55 You know Starfield fans are starved for content when people are doing minute-long in-depth analysis of what is nothing more than an idle animation.
@2:03 "... because the choice of where to go, it's not ours. It's yours." I want to go fly my ship in the atmosphere, Todd. It took only two minutes for you to disappoint.
@7:40 the shadows from the arch don't match the same angle as the shadows from the rocks.... If that arch is the actual arch, then maybe when we explore the planet (if we can) we can see other stuff like the tower in Paris, etc.
Is there a way to continuously upgrade all the gear or are we going to keep swapping it out by wearing whatever we pick up, I am asking because when i play games like this i enjoy collecting everything and upgrading it to max in case it becomes useful for something in the future.
Just to point out - this is the first Bethesda game in which they are using PBR method - which stand for 'Physically Based Rendering' - it is a newer 3D rendering method which calculates light behavior, reflections and light bounces much more realistically than the classic 3D rendering method and this also what allows realistic global illumination in real-time. all their games so far (including FO76) they used to old classic 3D rendering method. One of the reasons why their recent games - FO4 and FO76 - looked so dated compared to other games
@@anthonyclayton8283 I'm sorry but it didn't, it was the same rendering engine that was used for Skyrim SE - The same rendering engine from Creation engine 1 with several improvements on environmental effects, subsurface scattering and pseudo real-time reflections, but basically the same old shaders system - no proper integration of Fresnel effect
Back up to 4:05 and let it play till 4:14 and look in the background tell me if you saw it now that's a verry big thing to talk about since this is in game Xbox series X footage witch is suppose to run the game at maximum potential and even over it by a lot to have head room for fidelity and improvements by mod this needs to be fixed asap not tomorrow if you ever say something is disappointing this would be in that category

So 5 minutes parts huh? That'll give you 9 "new" videos - if you pump one out every 2 days, it's still 1.5 months until the launch xD. But maybe some previews will start to pop up, so you can milk those dry. Luckily for you, we're all so idiotically hyped, that we'll watch every molecule of content and be it so utterly void of creativity like this. I asked ChatGPT to come up with even more ideas to milk the content till release XD. Here goes: I see! The anticipation leading up to a big game release can lead to a lot of speculation and deep-dives into available content. Here are a few fun video idea suggestions for Starfield content creators: Frame by Frame Analysis: Break down the Starfield Direct video frame by frame. Discuss potential easter eggs, background details, or speculate about game mechanics. The Starfield Direct Reaction Compilation: Compile reactions from various creators, influencers, or gamers watching the Starfield Direct. This can bring diverse perspectives on what to expect from the game. Game World Theories: Based on what was shown in the direct, speculate about the lore of Starfield's universe. There could be a series of videos each focusing on different aspects, like politics, alien races, historical events, etc. Starfield Soundtrack Analysis: Dive into the music played in the Direct, dissecting how it could shape the feel of the game and comparing it to other Bethesda games' soundtracks. NPC Spotlight: If there were any NPCs introduced in the Direct, make videos focusing on each one. Discuss potential character arcs, backstories, and their possible roles in the game. Starfield Direct Parodies: Create comedic versions of the Starfield Direct. This light-hearted approach can offer a break from the seriousness of analysis. Graphics and Tech Deep Dive: Analyze the graphics, textures, lighting, and other technical aspects shown in the Direct. Compare these to Bethesda's previous games and the current gaming landscape. Starfield Wishlist: List features or game mechanics not yet confirmed but you'd love to see in Starfield based on what was shown in the Direct. Comparison Videos: Compare the Starfield Direct with the reveals of other popular Bethesda games. Spot similarities and differences and discuss what this might mean for Starfield. Predict the Plot: Based on clues from the Starfield Direct, try to predict the main storyline of the game. Remember, all of these can be stretched over multiple videos if needed, with each video delving into one specific topic or sub-topic. As long as the creator brings something new to the table with each video and remains enthusiastic, they should be able to keep their audience engaged and excited for the upcoming Starfield release!
Is this nit-picking? For how cold it is on that moon (-11) there sure are a lot of flowers and green as if it's summer. Cold is cold I don't think even alien flowers would bloom below freezing.
If this is the St. Louis arch something has happened to earth? The real question is what happened. Just like the Statue of Liberty seen in Planet of the Apes. What did our ancestors do to make this way.
The more I watch the combat the more unimpressed I am. Combat is more dynamic, but only because the player is ducking and weaving unnecessarily. The enemy AI needs to drive the dynamism of the combat and I'm not seeing enemies that just kind of walk back and forth in the same relative location.
I think it's been said before but, the st Louis Arch shown has the sun in the wrong place. The Arch faces east to west. Gateway to the west.... wonder if the earth had a pole shift.

Great analysis here Paul!
I'm really happy, xbox, but that's the the extra time that gave them really helped polish the game
The credit stick can also be found in the collector's edition. It's what they use to deliver the game file.
2:40 Finally. I mentioned that in a reddit. Looks scary. Aliens confirmed?
Really dug myself into mods with Skyrim and also Cyberpunk. Beth seems serious with modder support this time.
Crutial they do not lock out independent and non monetary modders.
I can see they used Houdini for the landscape, I reconize the pattenr (in that "St Louis" arc screenshot)
7:55 it's called Suspension of Disbelief. it's a video game lol
Great vid as always! I wonder if the player in the dev direct plays at easy mode, because the enemies dont really seem like a challenge for the player
You know that’s a good question because all the enemies seem to just be waiting around to be shot lol. Still looks like fun though.
Good question, yeah I don't think they were trying to make it look difficult, just fun, haha. It won't be no Dark Souls.
nice detailed breakdown, subbed and liked.
Not sure if I missed something, but I think the Sun orientation is off for the arch to be St Louis, disregarding the potential for some disaster to knock Earth off axis?
Can anyone validate that?
One thing I really want in the food is high caloric density. I don't want constant "feed me, I need water" bothering me. I hate this in Fallout 76.
@5:35 - the shadow cast by the arch seems to be in the wrong place wrt the star position.
Not really seeing any footage of the player flying or landing himself on moons/planets. Do you think we will have that kind of control?
Yea. I agree I'm not seeing any footage of that either. I'll be bummed if we can't. Cheap knockoff of planetary exploration
@@callahan123 well that stinks, they could of taken a no man’s sky approach, you can not really aim at the ground but fight in the atmo.
Atleast allow us to fly and restrict shooting
Isnt it crazy how bethesda went from a company that put a train over 2 human legs in order to make it move in fallout 3 to a company that implemented real time GI and and dynamic skyboxes for over 1000 planets in a game?
Just looking at those first few vistas etc is quite impressive, the lighting and the colouring was quality. I’m trying to not get hyped but it’s tough to keep a lid on it 😅
Captain Signal sounds really cool
GGs on 20k subs...💀
:) (Then blow them to hell along with every baddie inside, loot them, plunder them, maybe wreck'em some more for funsies, then make the call to explore some more to rinse and repeat or return to somewhere to process our Lewt. ;P )
13:30ish... Reasonable Explanation for it being doable, like many many XP and Skill Points worth of 'Training from Hell' to learn how to do it and really become a seasoned elite totally works, but it's just doable for no reason at all whatsoever and a Wizard didn't even need to did it, on the other hand...)
16:53ish... (Think along the lines of Deep Rock Galactic's "Molly"!)
18:44ish...
Todd Howard: "It's over a thousand worlds."
Me: " Really? I thought it was only a thousand."
Edit: 8:46 aren't those the same fern models from Skyrim?
Foot steps also seem to be roughly the same. Maybe updated but then again its foot steps. Probably just added new variants.
Do you have any educated guesses on ladders? The Megatron ship build seems to indicate a vertical movement system. Thoughts?
If getting in the ship is any indication, the shipboard ladders will most likely be "click here to ascend" style of system. At least it seems we can just get into our cockpit directly from the ramp, so even a vertical monstrosity like the Optimus ship is just one click from taking off
The landing area is probably also an exploration area beyond which you cannot continue exploring without re-landing.
Compared to distances between Skyrim cities or Fallout four settlements, how large will this landing/exploration area be?
Will it be a square tile or a circular perimeter?
..
Did you all notice the alien looking thing on the pine tree scene 15 secs in
We're back babyyy
Edit: apparently you might have missed it, at 0:48 we can see the rumoured Ashta as the planet is Akila
What's everyone's background going to be for first playthrough I'm leaning towards beast hunter and bounty hunter
Explorer
For my first playthrough? Probably just winging it, to be perfectly honest.
It looks okay but hopefully it's a little more polished at launch. There's a few glitchy looking things. Overall I'm satisfied though!
Welcome to UA-cam 2023, where we turn 5 mins into 23.
We're still 2 months out, I'll happily see the remaining 45 minutes turned into 207...
Around the 9 minute mark: those are skyrim ferns/bushes lol
September cannot come fast enough.. just think of what they Didnt show
I'm not worried about the game, I know it's going to be great, but I'm worried about the media haters and they might lower the number just to ruin the Xbox's reputation.
I'll definitely play this game but the fight scene 13:00 to me always looks stuttery. It doesn't look 30fps.
@2:50 I think it’s a Todd Howard cameo 😅
Does anyone know if Bethesda used AI to help with the different planets and creatures?
@7:40 the shadows from the arch don't match the same angle as the shadows from the rocks.... If that arch is the actual arch, then maybe when we explore the planet (if we can) we can see other stuff like the tower in Paris, etc.
Yay
6:32 It's obviously an alien McDonald's ;)
I think that figure is the #2 from Constellation. I don't remember her name yet.
I hope all the planets will be completely open world
they are!
Is there a way to continuously upgrade all the gear or are we going to keep swapping it out by wearing whatever we pick up, I am asking because when i play games like this i enjoy collecting everything and upgrading it to max in case it becomes useful for something in the future.
Probably like what is in Fallout 4, you would be able to upgrade your weapons.
Fallout 4 uses physically based rendering.
@@anthonyclayton8283 I'm sorry but it didn't, it was the same rendering engine that was used for Skyrim SE - The same rendering engine from Creation engine 1 with several improvements on environmental effects, subsurface scattering and pseudo real-time reflections, but basically the same old shaders system - no proper integration of Fresnel effect
earlyyy
Back up to 4:05 and let it play till 4:14 and look in the background tell me if you saw it now that's a verry big thing to talk about since this is in game Xbox series X footage witch is suppose to run the game at maximum potential and even over it by a lot to have head room for fidelity and improvements by mod this needs to be fixed asap not tomorrow if you ever say something is disappointing this would be in that category
how are content creators going to make lore/guides vids if each planet is a different experience for each person however the good news is the lore will not change just perhaps the location of quests on that planet or even worse the planet its on could change that's a lore/guide nightmare.(maybe not the main quest) If so each char you make the experience and locations will change LOL 😭cant wait and hope i am correct
Some crafted side-quests will still exist.
Radial quests will still exist to a point (kill this, find that, etc) just that it won't be possible to pin down the exact location.
The St Louis arch shadow looks out of position.
It's all out there mates first year after release ChatGPT followers and NPCs building structures and superpopulating the worlds thanks to mods. Great time for gaming!
Only 4 fauna and flora to discover? That seems exceedingly low.
I was wondering that.. so al this gameplay is supposedly Xbox series x gameplay??
Milking the direct lol
@@Tuningforks85 wawawawawa
Not even mad
2:40 Looks like some metal object or container
That same background music plays in all your videos. Its annoying once you notice it
In the video they show the Sol solar system and the Earth is beige instead of being blue. I was born in St. Louis and remember the arch being built. It's made of stainless steel and should last a long time. I think earth is a waste land and people left long ago.
Here goes:
I see! The anticipation leading up to a big game release can lead to a lot of speculation and deep-dives into available content. Here are a few fun video idea suggestions for Starfield content creators:
Frame by Frame Analysis: Break down the Starfield Direct video frame by frame.
I don't think it's St. Louis. I think it's one of the three rings of a giant artifact.
Or you know if he is like ede from mass effect or andromeda ai who was able to understand emotions fully
NO DLASS. Thank you Bethesda and AMD. Why are people not talking about this? I will pay for the DLSS mod...
The arch is a Stargate imo
Is this nit-picking? For how cold it is on that moon (-11) there sure are a lot of flowers and green as if it's summer. Cold is cold I don't think even alien flowers would bloom below freezing.
Well now we know the answer. Nope! It was in fact not good. 😂
6:15 Ummmmm!!!! Is that the St. Louis arch?????
Fauna, Flora and Resources looks tiny for a whole planet.... or is this just the "biome" you are currently in I wonder?
It is still atrocious that it is capped at 30 FPS.
If this is the St. Louis arch something has happened to earth? The real question is what happened. Just like the Statue of Liberty seen in Planet of the Apes. What did our ancestors do to make this way.
This is a little late😂
Never too late for this
@gregwestmen4902 Yea true👍
Animations look good but that 3rd person run looks like shit! Hopefully it doesn't feel like FO4 or 76. 9:45
The more I watch the combat the more unimpressed I am. Combat is more dynamic, but only because the player is ducking and weaving unnecessarily. The enemy AI needs to drive the dynamism of the combat and I'm not seeing enemies that just kind of walk back and forth in the same relative location.
2:50 looks like a fuel pump
you see starfield is exclusive of amd , you think that is a good idea for all people how play with Nvidia , that make me sad
Can I just play the game early please
I think it's been said before but, the st Louis Arch shown has the sun in the wrong place. The Arch faces east to west. Gateway to the west.... wonder if the earth had a pole shift.
