All you have to do is ride them both, you will soon realize why Ducati is Ducati. There has never been and never will be a BMW, M series or not, that matches the soul and pedigree of Ducati. I have owned at least 5 of each brand. If anyone can tell me that BMW produces a bike with soul I am all ears but I have had 4 GS's and I have sold 4 GS's. I have owned the RT, the LT and have ridden many more. The only BMW's that have soul are the old Airheads. Don't get me wrong BMW makes a great bike and the GS is the best of the range imho but simply does not possess that smile factor of a Ducati or KTM. I just sold my last ever GS (2021) and while it was a good machine it was never the bike I jumped on without hesitation. I always rode the GS for rides where I just wanted to get there in comfort. That being said, I will take my Street Glide any day over a GS on a long haul. I will also take my Desert X any day over a GS for adventure riding. This XR is may boast more horsepower and that is great but if anyone thinks 200+ HP vs 180 HP will be a useable difference on the street they are insane. At these levels you have to look for refinement, handling etc. I have a Pikes Peak and I would bet money on the fact that even my PP would out perform this new XR in the corners. The BMW may eventually pull away at 150+ MPH but how many times do you ride that fast other than a brief moment....it is all about the refinement and soul to me.

Once I saw some torque graphs realized my "lowly" Pikes Peak V4 has 15-20 lbs more power on dyno graph all the up to 10,000 rpms on both the "screamer" motors of the RS and XR, I calmed down. You don't ride peak horsepower/13,000 rpms with panniers and wife on board much at all. But still mange to do "The Ton" most every ride with easy roll on and no downshifts. "Area under the power curve" for real road riding win.

Comparing a horse with a cow is not a comparison, BMW does not come close to Ducati. You compare a German farm restaurant with a restaurant with 3 Michelin stars, you know nothing about it man

LOL, No! The motorcycles have more in common than differences; we compare 4 cylinder crossover bikes. It's that simple. And with models like this, the time on the racetrack is decisive and the Ducati will lose

The V4 pikes peak was the answer, and this RS is just wrong. Like to see them on the track together, though.

You're numbers are just plain wrong. Horsepower numbers for the rs are without the exhaust. Bmw advertises their hp numbers with exhaust. Weight might be accurate but you can't get cases on the XR, at least not from the factory. It's much closer to an s1000rr than the multi rs is to a panigale.

Let’s add a 10k exhaust and still fall short and make it 25k more

@@TallyHoTech Yeah well people don't buy Ducatis because they're cheap. 192 vs 201 HP is splitting hairs at that point anyway.

@@joshuamurray86 BMW is stock pipe though, homologated. That's a Racing pipe on the ducati. Its not road legal. My point is even if you get the pipe unless your a ducati fan why would you pay 25K more for less power and more weight

@@thefika The exhaust shown on the website is a full akrapovic, which I highly doubt is a street legal exhaust. Where did you read that it's street legal? So my point is that you have to add the exhaust to each bike after buying them so that part is irrelevant. You're getting slightly better tech on the Ducati and better long distance abilities. That's what you're paying for. Either way, you're right that Ducati is a niche brand. This video is titled, "BMW Just Destroyed Ducati..." All I'm saying is that statement is highly inaccurate and money aside both bikes are nearly equal in terms of raw performance.

@@joshuamurray86hahaha no it isn't. The exhaust it comes with is just an akra slip on.... the m1000xr comes from factory with the underslung exhaust box with catalytic converters like every m1000/s1000 bike. They can't sell a bike from factory that doesn't have a road legal exhaust on it 😂😂 what planet are you on. Ducati full exhaust is a part the dealer then puts on which makes your bike non compliant it's not from factory.
And the base m1000xr with the forged wheels (like the rs has) is 8k cheaper again than the m1000xr comp with carbon wheels. So its over 20k cheaper than the Ducati RS, 😂 just insane.
I have a ducati streetfighter V4SP atm and even that was 7k cheaper than the RS!!!, but I'm swapping to the m1000xr that I've already pre ordered
