Hello Thomas, this is a video that makes the heart of a steam locomotive fan beat faster. ❤❤❤❤ Brillant filmed, thank you for taking me along and have a nice Sunday. Best wishes from Germany. Wolfgang
Marvelous video! 484’s bell sounds very calming when slowly ringing at 18:32. *I know this doesn’t really matter but it is nice to see 3 locos without any plow on, unlike 487. They get to breathe a bit.
I'm glad that most of the fleet is finally back, last few years the C&TS just didn't feel the same, rides were shorter, trains didn't run the full length of the railroad, and they only had at least 2 locomotives operating.
There were issues during Covid and 2022 when the extreme fire danger caused the C&T to open in July instead of May. Neither has anything to do with locomotives. In 2023 there were 5 operable locomotives including 484, 488, 463, 315, and 168. 168 is used for special excursions but the rest of the fleet worked regular excursions. 487 and 489 will join the fleet this year, both oil burners. 492 will go into service in a few years after it’s restoration.
I can see 492 hiding behind the trees at 3:26, and is it possible that it will be restored by 2030 in time for the 60th anniversary of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad?
Audio was fine on my PC, he just needs a mic for the drone instead of that annoying music...or silence, it's not just this channel, it's all channels I watch. I end up turning down the volume if there's music instead of the actual sound or silence, but that might just be me.
Most Excellent Tom. Great opening day coverage.
Thanks, Bob!
I'm definitely visiting Cumbres & Toltec Scenic railroad this summer, New Mexico here I come.
Beautiful aerial shots!!!
Thanks!
Another great video. Nothing beats the sound of a hard working steam engine or such beautiful scenery! Thank you!
Thank you, David!
Need to get those scouts in full uniform!
Yes, great aerial shots. Loved the slow shift for B&W ro colour. Very well done.
Thank you, Ian!
Fun opening weekend. A bit windy on opening day, but Sunday was fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Thank you. We did for our Sunday for a couple drone flights. It was a nice morning.
Thanks Tom for the long and great video of #484. Always enjoy your train videos. Awesome job on filming it. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much!

Awesome job as always Thomas! I loved the beginning especially. This has got to be one of your best works I’ve seen from you! 🔥
Thanks Jared!
Nice job, Tom!
Thanks Mark!
Thx. I am coming over from the UK in August for a visit and am very much looking forward to riding on the C&TSR.
Excellent! You will love it!
488 is my favorite steam train! I love the Cumbres and Toltec.
Thank you!
@@YardLimit 497 is my second favorite.
Rode it many years ago. Great RR; fun!
It sure is!
Szép videó lett!😀👍

Would it be cool to see 494 or 495 returned to steam after 492 or even 483??
483 would be very cool!
I wish that 484 the steam locomotive need to the little hook off on top of its cab

It was hiding back there. It looks rather disheveled but in about two more years it should be running. Certainly well before 2020.
@@YardLimit and it will be using 497's tender as well, and they will be keeping it a coal burner
Where was that ex-White Pass diesel locomotive that the railroad was rumored to have acquired?
Still in Skagway waiting on a barge.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hard to believe 484 derailed 25 years ago and missed 5 years of running!
Looks good now!
@@YardLimit yes 484 looks good Sounds good to When I first went to chama in 2004 484 was back in steam!
20 years ago June 3rd 2004 was the first time I road the train behind 484! Had come back to steam!
Nice video of an interesting subject, however the audio left a lot to be desired. Almost no volume at all, the speaking unintelligible?
Noted!
Audio on my iPad was just fine.
