They nerfed the pack odds in Play boosters from Bloomburrow. The chance of double rares were cut from 27% roughly down to 14%. 3 rares went from 4% down to 1%. And 4 rares went from 1% down to less than 1%. This have kept going since Bloomburrow, which to me tells that they always wanted Play boosters to be closer to Draft boosters rare wise, but made Play boosters better the first few sets to make it seem like the consumers weren't actually losing anything. Add in too that there's been less special art outside of collector boosters, and you see the greedy trend.
It really is disappointing that play booster packs have turned into this. I was ok with the change away from set booster when the pull rates were the same, not it just feels likes bad.
appreciate the play booster box opening, I personally don't enjoy foil cards so the collector booster boxes just aren't appealing so these openings help heaps. 6 mythics for a play box seems in-line (slightly better than the average) with play boxes of other sets, but I agree with you completely, it's basically just a draft box with a minor chance of more, so the cost value is up in the air still. i'm surprised they kept the price in-line with other sets, considering half the set are reprints, although I really like the full art prints and the set itself is actually more exciting than duskmourn as we're going back to a fantasy theme!
If you look at the new MSRP they intend this to be a bit cheaper, $5.25 a pack vs $5.50 for example Duskmourn. I don’t think that is how it will shake out in practice though.
It is what I thought it would be. Six mythics is about right for a box, and you did have several multi-rare packs. But overall, this isn't a set worth opening packs for cards to flip. Maybe that's the real lesson they're trying to teach new players. As the Professor would say ... BUY SINGLES! ;-)

I don't disagree. This set specifically it is probably better to buy singles.
_How will we have singles if no one opens packs?
Hold on to that borderless Valk's Call, I will be picking that up!
You got it!
@guildvaultgames that foil blasphemous is good too
Impersonate the moon lol
Love how blasphemous edict got shoved into the not so great pile
Why did they bother reprinting shivas dragon that’s a card that will never see any play. Used to be a huge chase card but times have changed.
I agree, there are a few cards they do that with now a days
he's a bomb uncommon in draft
