Espe for sure. The farm culture of that one is AMAZING for dark beers. Always gave me a warming alcohol and a kind of guiness like dark fruit flavor. If I could get that reliably that would be amazing.
Good call 🍻🍻🍻
Great information thank you. The fact that it's dry and available in home brew sizes is great news.
Cheers Mike, sure is 🍻🍻
Look forward to use the new Kveik Yeast.
Thanks for the information 👍
Cheers Allan 🍻🍻
Im so happy that there are more and more dry yeast available in the market. Its very difficult to get wet yeast in the Philippines and I always feel left out on videos and forums when they only talk about wet yeast
Sure is Jasper. Certainly in most countries dry is many times more popular than wet.
I spent my first year back to home brewing using farmhouse Kveik strains exclusively, and fell in love with Tormodgarden as my favorite all-around yeast…especially with darker recipes.
Great to hear Edwin. Its an awesone way to go.
Very interesting thank you :)
Cheers Paul 🍻🍻🍻
At 5.37 I mentioned baking powder , this should be baking soda to assist with ph.

Please pin this comment to the top so it is the first thing everyone will see. Great video, thanks!
Thanks, it is pinned 🍻🍻
Thanks for the video and information! I'm very interested now in trying to bew beer with those yeasts 😀
Great, enjoy 🍻🍻
I like the idea of a Stalljen Baltic Porter, a very informative video, many thanks.
Yeah. Try fermenting a porter with staljen at 10C. It will take some time but its awaome at low temperatures
Sounds ideal to me 🍻🍻🍻
I just won a homebrewing competition with a Dark Mild fermented with Nystein. Would love to see that yeast become more available in the US. Would also love to see Framgarden, Lida, Hovden and Laerdal. So, basically bring all the kveiks to the US please! 😂😂
Great list, much appreciated 🍻🍻
Can't wait to get my hands on these and do some split batches since I normally brew 10 gallons
Awesome, Its a great way to experiment and test :)
Well this is pretty exciting!
For sure 🍻🍻
I've been using original multi strains for years, all ordered from Norway, and this is good news. One of my favourite strains is Skare, I also quite like Midtbust.
Cheers Luc, yes me too. Midtbust would be awesome.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Hi David, quick question about something completely different, my next brew is going to be an ESB and I was wondering about using a small amount of molasses. Any thoughts about it?
Certainly a small amount can be very good 🍻🍻
I would vote strongly for Framgarden Kveik. Great for clean or fruity beers and flocculant too.
Good call, thanks Robin 🍻🍻🍻
Exciting that might make it to the US soon!
Sure is 🍻🍻🍻
I really hope they release Espe and Nystein soon, I loved those two.
Awesome, great suggestions, thanks 🍻🍻🍻
Hi David. I have a friend visiting his hometown of Skei, Norway next week. He's going to try and bring me back some yeast. Hopefully there is somewhere nearby that has these. I was looking for something that I currently cannot get home yet here in Newfoundland, Canada. This definitely fits the bill. Cheers!
He would probably be best ordering it online for him to collect from someone whilst there.
Hopefully these will be available in Burkina Faso soon
🍻🍻🍻
Hope these yeast make it to Australia
It is in progress 🍻🍻
Midtbust would be amazing! I have some I purchased form the facebook group. Real farm versions are amazing to have. Hope they are available in Canada soon!!!
I agree, a great very fruity midtbust would be amazing!
Hi Bruce! Glad to hear that you are interested in our yeast, and hopefully our yeast will be available in Canada soon ☺
@@kveikyeasteryas awesome what distributor? Looking forward to more real farm kviek versions. Be amazing to be able to buy fresh pitch of my Midtbust. Kept it going about 3 years
@@itterman Until we have distribution set up we can't say what distributor unfortunately. What is your go-to place in Canada?
@@kveikyeasteryas I shop a bunch of place. Beergrains, Defalcoes are local to me Also Ontario Beer Kegs and Brewhq mail order. I also get some yeast from local breweries. We order in 500g bricks and split with local brewers in club
Bring on the new yeasts everywhere!
🍻🍻🍻
Ebbegarden sounds very interesting. How would you suggest to tweak hopping profile for this from your tropical pale ale recipe?
It sure is. Personally I always adjust the PH to suit it as mentioned in the video, rather than reducing hops.
👍
Cheers :)
Looking forward to getting my hands on these. Any idea when a d where it can be found in the uk?
Kveik yeastry will be updating there website with this information quite soon.
Im still waiting for lalbrew novalager to be available in my country :( (Poland) Really looking forward to try this kveik yeast too
I guess that will not be long now.
I've given up using Voss because I always found my Pales and hoppy IPAs too bitter and almost slightly sour, all my brews using other yeasts are lovely. Hopefully some of these new ones will alleviate that because it's a great yeast to use when the weather gets hotter in the summer months 🤞🤞
Were you using isolate voss or farm voss? You could well note differences between these versions.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Just the standard Lallemand or Mangrove Jack M12 packs
Try multistrain if possible.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Really appreciate your replies but not sure what you mean............
This new kveik is multi strain 🍻
i hope they bring out a Lutra Style that is isolated for Lager's, As Omgea is very expensive, David what would your thoughts be on this version of Voss in a Cider
They are doing full multistrain though, not isolates. Skare kveik is idea but it will not be cheap as such due to the extra work involved.
Very interesting! Cheers David :-)
Does anyone know if/where to find this in Germany?
Cheers.
I am unsure if Germany has this just yet but that is likely to change.
Is this anything to do with the guys that had Kveikshop? I used their Framgarden a few times and really like it.
No, this company are part of the inner circle of farm kveik people in Norway.
Hi David.... Interesting!
What are the chances of a Belgian type strain?
Thanks Ian. Very high! Its more a case of when this year.
i have a question.
why if you brew with all the kveiks in a brew., colect the bottoms and then uses it in a new brew etc... would that make a superkveik in 1500 years or what do you think?
This is already being done 🍻🍻🍻
Hello David. Where can I buy these strains? I checked on their Web site and there's no listing of dealers and it seems they don't have a store either.
Hi Jean, a dealers listing is in progress
Pretty sure Voss is a single-strain isolate... are they really from Norway? What's their background??
Voss is a 3 strain kveik. There are single strain isolates sold but they are not fully kveik of course. Yes they are all from Norway. Check this link out:- www.garshol.priv.no/download/farmhouse/kveik.html
@@DavidHeathHomebrew Ok, I guess I was misinformed.
Thank you for the link.
No problem, cheers 🍻🍻
Thanks so much. However an error at 5:37 you stated "baking powder" not "baking soda".
This will result in the opposite desired effect.
Well spotted. Baking powder has a neutral ph. I have added this to the pinned post on comments. Thanks.
@@DavidHeathHomebrew no worries. Easy to slip to the other... Very similarly named powder.
Its too easy to do for sure but usually I pick these errors up before the video going live. I got the flu over the weekend though, so ive not been 100% since. P
