We start by assigning different sleeping and potty areas in the whelping box because puppies will attempt to move away from it to eliminate. We use compressed paper pallets for the whelping box litter box and dog bad with no loose cushions or deep creases for a puppy to get caught under. We start with a simple crate mat that has a padded bumper around. Puppies also start to learn eating and drinking at this age.
