This is the best review of the lil native available on UA-cam! Instant subscriber! So thorough and all the details you mentioned were of particular interest to me, someone who feels the para 3 is slightly too big for EDC!
Now that the honeymoon's done, how has it gone? Has the Dragonfly 2 been de-throned? The reason I ask is that I have a Dragonfly 2, (or rather, my daughter does now...) and I'm thinking of picking up another "coin pocket knife" . I'm thinking of a Li'l Native or a Squeak. Maybe even go cheap and get a CRKT.
So glad to run into your review I was going to by a para 3 but like the smaller native . I didn’t even realize it came in compression lock I just remember it being a lock back . Thanks so much .
@@MrGtopper thanks for watching! So glad I was able to help out :) it’s a great knife! I loved it so much I even modded it. Spent a pretty penny but was worth it!
I love your voice it’s very soothing and relaxing. Your reviews are very thorough and provide a lot of information. By the way, I love my Lil’ Native!!
Thanks for the cool video...I was never into the spydercos as the hump around hole never appealed to me. Then I noticed the chaparral and love it and also the dragonfly.
Well presented as always. Might be a little too small for my tastes but you’ve got me taking a harder look at the Para3 now. Keep the videos coming! Always look forward to hearing your perspective. Too few women’s voices in the knife community & I’m glad for yours.
You're really good at reviewing knives in a helpful way. Please review every spyderco folding 'EDC' knife... I sure ppl would send you their knives for you to borrow for review
Opinionated Grug That would be great to have access items in that capacity. Hopefully someday! Using/reviewing knives and EDC items is such an enjoyable hobby for me. Thanks for your comment.
First time seeing your channel, i like your video style table top reviews are cool but this gives me more info rather than iust opinions! I just scored a lil native in m4 and jade g10 for $110. Spyderco ergos are so good one their small knives!
Just got the Lil Native DLC for 90 bucks from campsaver. I love it even though I have XL-XXL sized hands. Really quality knife that feels like a high end spyderco box cutter. Looking forward to using it more. Nice delivery and it was a pleasure to hear you articulate well. Nice job
Just found your channel and instantly subscribed! Probably the most comprehensive knife review I've seen so far and the carrying and cutting demonstrations are very nice. BTW you have beautiful hands and I like your voice!
Great review! I'm trying to pick between the Lil Native and Native 5. I currently have a DF2 which I love, but I'd like to carry a slightly larger companion knife with it in an office setting.
Kalvin Kerns Howdy! Thanks for watching. O definitely, I hear ya when you're trying to find that in between size it can be difficult! I have found that knives in that size range (e.g. Native 5, Caly 3, Sage) to be a bit intimidating for those around me, and although it may not seem that way, I feel that the Lil native is substantially smaller in use. Have fun with your decision! Can't go wrong either way :) Cheers
I enjoyed this video quite a lot, thank you for the easy to follow format, clear tone, great lighting and close ups 👍. I'm shopping for a female friend of mine and it's great to see the ego in smaller hands, deployment and undeployment, how it fits and sits in woman's pockets, if it will destroy the pocket (let's be honest, if it looks the pocket I don't think women want to use them). I will be interested to know how each knife performs when cutting ties, rubber tube, strings, zip ties, cardboard box, and fabric, the usual edc tasks.
For small, lightweight, slicing spyderco prefer the Chaparral FRN over lil Native. Thinner blade stock of .08 vs 1.1 makes better slicer. Blade material of CTS-XHP is better than S30CVN in maintaining sharpness. Longer blade of 2.8 inches instead of 2.5 for larger fruit/veggie. Lighter overall weight. Cost is about $27 less expensive. Just wins across the board in my opinion. Perhaps you can review the Chaparral one day, more a gentleman (woman) folder.
Valid points, but my reason for Lil Native over Chaparral = compression lock and Chicago blade laws (I don't live there but visit often). Anything over 2.5" is illegal.
Great Review! Is the knife in the size comparision a Griptilian or a Mini Griptilian? You are saying Griptilian but somehow I got the impression, it's a Mini Griptilian.
Thanks for this great review. Was looking for something next to my df2 and considering the Lil native and Lil lum. This pushed me towards the Lil native, it seems to have better ergonomics, and don't own a compression lock yet. Also great filming and editing. Nice contrast with nick shabazz :)
Awesome review 👏 Please review more folding pocket knives. You're way better than 90% of the other boring 😴 reviewers. Spyderco knives will keep you busy and popular for many years 👍😁🤷♂️🍻
Being a lefty myself, your demonstrations show how easy it is to pinch the compression lock while holding the knife with one hand. I bought this knife thanks to you and am loving it! How about your take of the Para 3?
Thanks for your kinda words! Personally I love the Para 3. You definitely can tell that much thought went into that product. I would say I would use it more if my hands were larger and I can take the extra weight. I generally move towards smaller knives because of ease of carry since carrying a purse or using clipping a knife in small pockets (as is typical in women's pants I find) can be a bit cumbersome. Thanks for the comment! Cheers, S
I love the Native, but I can’t bring myself to leave the Delica behind. I find myself in scrubs often and I can hide it easily in a waistband. I carry a Chicago in certain cities where I have to (like...in Chicago, for example). Great videos!
Christopher Carr I haven't tried the Chicago myself but I can definitely see how it's form factor would be really appealing. It took be awhile to warm up to the native previously because of the occluded hole in early generations of the model (which is now fixed). For this model though, I really fell in love with it once I held it! Thanks for the comment and support.
Lil native 5 w/black blade is probably my office carry, its a lot of knife for the money and not intimidating to the public but I always carry my Smok or Para 3
Good review.. I have XL hands but the DF2 and Cat still work good enough..It's nice to have another option.. Not sure how it would fit.. I can't stand the Native.. Can't get a decent grip behind choil...I don't like being forced to use a choil.. I'd rather not have one....
I think this is far superior given the faster deployment and greater control with the choil. However that is subjective, and so note that it is quite a bit more costly when comparing with the basic frn delica. Hope that helps!
@@spydiechick Hi, looking at dragonfly, Delica, banter, baby banter, Lil native for daughter. (Stuff is selling out...) Wow this choice has been a tough...lol...TY 💕 even a multi tool choice was easier. Any thoughts?
Great review!!! I totally had the idea of watching the review w a knife fan buddy and turning this review into a drinking game. Everytime you say Lil Native, we have to take a sip of beer haha!
I was really liking this knife until you mentioned the price. I'll hang on to my Spyderco Chicago. It's very similar. Only smaller and liner lock at half the price.
Why would any sane person use this knife for food prep ? It's beyond silly and that's not where it shines. this actually is one of the best package opening box and cardboard cutting blade I own, if you want to do food prep even the Para 3 is better.

You have a pleasant voice - very clear delivery.
I just bought the Lil' Native as an impulse buy and it might dethrone my Dragonfly 2 as my go-to EDC.
VectorAero Thanks for watching and support! Yes, I have found it similar. My trusted Dfly is getting some replacement from this amazing model as well!
Pls keep them both! They’re both awesome as compact dailies.😁

The Li'l Native and CRU-WEAR P3 are my two most carried folders. Nicely done, S-Chick.
I'm in love! Where have you been my whole life? Oh yeah, the chick doing the review is ok too.
Another Spyderco gem and another stellar review by my current favorite knife reviewer!

Looks like a tiny Shaman with square edges. The Shaman is my favorite knife. There is a Lil' Native in the dealer I go to but it's a slip joint.

Just received mine a couple of days ago and absolutely love it, the down side it hates my jeans!
Also have the Para 3 LW and Dragon fly love them also!
the food cutting is like visual ASMR
Thanks for the comparison of the Native and the others. It helps me decide if I want to get the Lil Native.

I love my lil native it’s the perfect utility blade for edc
That's one wicked stew your making there! I'm guessing the paper is your secret?? 😉😛

You should get the para 3 in baby blue from knifejoy. It looks like your benchmade.
Great review, love this knife!
Good video! Subscribed.
hey, great review!! is it the mini grip?
peter tegstad Thanks for watching! The blue knife shown was indeed the mini griptilian.
This is a fantastic video thank you

Damn girl, you are tight! Good job.
Are you sure that's not a mini griptillian
Isn't that a Mini-Griptilian?!? IDK, I could be wrong.

The Chicago does seem like a great offering! Thanks for your comment
You pay more for great steel and the compression lock.
You definitely need Spyderco Brouwer .
Yes that would be great. I do not have that in the collection yet though. Hopefully in the future!
Lol I'm a RN and carry my PM2 and P3's. I cam see the RRT looking at me like wtf lmao
Haha that's awesome! Glad to hear you're able to bring your carry in those settings 🙂

She has hilariously tiny hands. I just got one of those knives the other day and she makes it look WAY bigger than it actually is.
The way you sliced the bandana revealed a lot. You are not a kitchen person
