I used to work at a country club, and let me tell you, some of them elderly gals will be prim, proper, and absolutely scalding of your etiquette, while their husband is on the golf course with a literal zip locked bag full of cocaine. I have heard some of the foulest jokes ever uttered while bartending on the men, and then their wife will come in and be upset that her silverware is 6 degrees off of a perfect right angle.

understandable but most of this is just for pretentious and/or old people. younger people will assume you're uncomfortable with them if you follow all these rules instead of acting more casually
@ratrat9241 nah a lot of the stuff is very helpful in day to day interaction and even simply being clean and taking care of yourself. The handshake is really good for professional environments and so is the small talk. In more casual settings perhaps the conversions dont need to remain light, but the rules on how to intoduce folks to other friends and how to interact with new people you've never spoken to are highly relevant.

I took an etiquette class before and it basically went like this. I launched the eggs all over the floor, my one friend took of her shoes during the meal, my other friend walked over to where the food was being served and started filling up a napkin with French toast sticks. These etiquette teachers have truly seen it all.
