I am convinced that the secret of the Bessler wheel is something that is right out in the open, staring everyone right in the face. That is the junction where the pendulum upright and crossbar meet. In the original drawings it cannot be determined whether or nor the pendulum assembly is connected to the bar that runs from the inner support to the outer support or not. I believe that the pendulum assembly is constructed to slide back and forth on said bar within the confines of the U shaped capture at the top of the assembly at the same time as the pendulum is swinging.

channels like this bother me. if you're going to pretend to be about science, explain why perpetual motion isn't possible, or at least be honest and explain how you made the machine appear to work. this is going to do nothing except misinform kids who are interested in science.

harvesting energy from gravity is possible even NASA proves it by doing en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_assist but to make some energy from gravity and collect it ... it needs very good understanding of physics and geometry

Excellent reproduction! This design of his looks like a clock mechanism using pendulums to regulate/govern wheel speed , but obviously powered by the weight. Obviously when the weight reaches the floor, it will stop adding its energy to the system and it will all stop. It is unfortunate that this is the only wheel of his illustrated; not the 54+ days one. But it seems quite important, in a visually allegorical way. Certainly, it can be considered a window into the engineering mind of Bessler. At the very least I would interpret from this, that the energy which moves all his wheels moves through the weights, and is applied to the wheels rotation. Some say the hammering was made to mask the other noises so the hidden mechanisms could not be guessed. But I believe they were essential in transferring their acquired momentum to aid its rotation direction.

For those who are interested: (hopefully this does not get deleted)
    1. It's very suspicious that at from 0:34 onward, you cannot see the top of the wheel/machine.
1a. Notice the speed at what the hammers are being lifted and dropped.
1b. Notice at 1:04, the hammers are lifted and dropped at a slower rate, already. The wheel is spinning slower.
    2. At 1:14 Again, I need to see the top of the wheel. It is very possible to have another wheel spinning the wheel on this machine..
    3. At 1:46, you can see the top of the wheel to ensure no outside driving force. Too bad the clip stops at 1:56, the wheel was not spinning for long. This video should be A LOT longer, WITH a top view of the wheel to see "perpetual motion"
    4. I will need to see what is inside of the wheel. It is possible to have a spring or string, winding mechanism of some sort.
    5. Lastly, I will need to see underneath the table to make sure there are no electronics.
    Thank you,
    Neil R (EE)

The Big Wheel is indeed the 'power source'.
Benjamin Franklin made a similar device, much smaller.
The large wheel was sealed up air-tight; the flat sides remain somewhat flexible while the circumference is made strongly.
As ambient air pressure changes throughout the day, the sides of the wheel are bent inward or outward.
This puts compression or tension on the axles of the Great Wheel.
One notes that this 'pumping action' of the axle is the motive force that drives the machine onward.
    It runs, no doubt.
    It is also externally powered.
Franklin's 'water-drop' electrical generator does indeed harvest 'free-energy' from the Air, all you have to do is keep filling it with water. Lifting water to fill the tank 'charges' it up!
The falling water-drops (gravity) provides all the energy needed to generate electricity.
Many examples of 'Ambient Engines' exist.
Daily changes in pressure, sunlight, air temperature and relative humidity have driven many other machines.
They work, but are a kind of 'parlor trick'.

Fact: Using the word “machine” with perpetual motion or energy, will give it a beginning and an end, making it finite. With this new and better understanding of perpetual devices, its meaning will need updating in defining it as finite. This way, these devices or machines will not violate the laws of thermodynamics, laws of nature, laws of physics, makes them patentable. ~Guadalupe Guerra

Consider this...If you were to place the offset arms that are on the ends of the main axle at an equal 180 degrees and thus making the pendulums swing exactly opposite each other. Then make the upper pendulum pivots, into slides instead of a pivot, letting the whole pendulum slide from one end of the u shaped piece to the other, at the end of each swing.Would this create enough of a boost to the wheel to keep it going?Of course we will never know just what bessler had inside the actual wheel but I have given many hours of contemplation to the subject of this particular machine over the years and have thoughts that this might work.

I'm not saying you stole it, but you didn't make it up; You probably just heard it and forgot about it, and then thought you came up with it for this comment. If you want to see the video (it's excellent; Goldberg was hilarious and very intelligent) it's called "something for nothing". Another great perpetual motion video is the one that youtuber Physics Girl made. (She even included that Rube Goldberg quote in her video.) So, you didn't make up that quote, but it is from a really great video that you should watch if you like science, and debunking things like perpetual motion.

+Orestas Vanagas NASA use of gravity assist is not an over unity machine. They are using the fact that planets have a different speed than the spacecraft. Every time a spacecraft uses gravity assist the speed of the planet around the sun goes down ever so slightly so a very small amount of the planets kinetic energy gets transferred to the spacecraft. Since this contraption is going the same speed and direction as the planet it is sitting on no energy can be transfered.
