Darren Criss you were nothing less than brilliant as Cunanan...terrifying...you deserve the Emmy !!!
Really, terrifying. He is so handsome and so scary at the same time in the show.
He was great at playing his character. I wanted to slap him so hard every time he talked because he just played that BS compulsive liar role so well.
He's brilliant in the role.
BRILLIANTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT HE ROCKS
I agree. being an interviewer really suits Larry King. That toad face ROCKS.
Yes, he is! Incredible performance!
David Marsden Larry King is amazing.
He's Awesome. He's got a great career ahead of him . The Assassination of Gianni Versace is simply one of the best series over the recent years.
he is so so smart. like, wow. amazing actor. eloquent. smart. wow
Agreed!
such actor. much talent. wow
I totally understand the pain of the Versace family. Their brother Gianni Versace was brutally and senselessly murdered when he was at the top of the gane, after he had beaten cancer. And now this show is killing him twice and is focusing on the murderer, giving him what he wanted: attention, which was also the reason he took 5 lives. Gianni was so loved by everyone because he was humble, simple, kind and sweet. He had an extraordinary talent as a designer but also as a businessman. Born in post WW2 Italy's poorest area run by mafia and corruption, he worked hard everyday to built an empire that still stands today. Imagine to work so hard just to be killed that way. RIP Versace
I agree... but they protected Gianni a lot in this series. Andrew was HIV positive, his killing spree sprang largely from that, he believed (and many others too) that Versace gave it to him. They didn't mention that at all, they were very vague on how Cunanan was associated with Versace.
Breezy Winter Andrew was not HIV positive and he murdered people cause he was sociopath.
Breezy Winter he wasn’t HIV positive. He thought he was. They did an autopsy and found that Cunanan was not HIV positive
Versace didn't beat cancer, he was HIV positive, the Versace family always denied it but he started to feel better right when doctors discovered the right meds to HIV treatment
@@angelica8000 exactly
I’m still shocked he’s straight in real life 😳🙃
Dani Berg you and me both 😳
shook.
We all are
No, he is not. Just look at the way he moved his eyebrows when he speaks. He screams gay gay gay all the way.
Everybody's mood
Darren Criss deserves an Emmy for his role in American Crime Story’s “Assassination of Gianni Versace." When I look at his evolution of the roles he has played he has become an incredible actor with great range.
This young man did a VERY impressive job - had never heard of him before and I hope he gets more juicy roles like this one in the future. Great work!
Before this is he was most famous for his role as Blaine Anderson in the show glee. Definitely a very different character/type of show
He was Harry freaking Potter, don't forget that. His journey from where he started to where he is now is just mind-blowing, you can't help but admire and marvel at him. And he has never stopped being humble about it, keeping in touch with old friends and recognizing the contributions they have made to help him be who he is as a person and a professional. It has definetly been totally awesome. Wishing him all the best.
Luna Lisveth Harry Potter is played by Daniel Radcliffe. Other than that Darren Criss is immensely talented and deserves more roles.
@@leahmayes2417 my dear, allow me to introduce you to Starkid Productions. Search A Very Potter Musical on youtube and marvel at the most sassy potter you will ever know. It's totally awesome ;)
Leah Mayes no sis, Darren did play Harry Potter many years ago hahaha search it up
Larry King has the merit to always be listening and not cutting people when they speak.
He's a good actor and I love the way he say's Mr. Versace,
EVERYDAY.......................
He has so much class.
I like that he had enough respect to mention the families of all the victims. The Versaces were clearly not the only family to lose someone they loved at the hands of Cunnanan.
He was terrifying as Andrew. Terrifyingly brilliant!
Not as scary as DEXTER
Darren is great in this role, also nice to see that he is a thoughtfull, intelligent man
He is a very smart, respectful young man and clearly talented. I don't see him being type cast in any role as he is to versatile. I also feel the Versace family is being portrayed very respectfully. I am sure the Miglin family isn't very happy either but, clearly Mrs Miglin had to be aware that her husband swung both ways! I don't believe for a minute Lee was an innocent by stander that Andrew just happened across. Now Mr Resse at the cemetery i do feel was a random person at the wrong place at the wrong time. This series has been so very well produced, acted, directed and written.
He's playing Cunanan so well that even watching this interview I feel like puching him in the face lol
haha, not gonna lie, I'm very thankful that I've been a fan of Darren's for many years now, and so I don't have a hard time separating him himself from the character of Andrew - if ACS Versace was the first thing I saw him in, I'd probably be so freaked out by him! Especially since Darren *is* quite a bit like Andrew in some ways, but just.. you know, much MUCH more psychologically stable and a seemingly lovely person :)
He is a great actor o was totally creeped out watching this show. However it is not a show is it? It's real life being played out, glamourised . That is not easy for the victims families to watch.
For a long time the family even denied that he was gay.
Darren Criss did an amazing job portraying Andrew Cunanan in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”. I just finished watching the entire series on Netflix. Amazing. All the actors were amazing. Bravo!
He's so well spoken and eloquent 😍
Well said, Darren. We, really, will never know. Darren is a fabulous actor but more importantly, he seems to be a great man.
I also feel like they portrayed the Versace's with respect and love. I just can't get over this story, it's haunting my thoughts lol..I had no idea. It's pretty heart breaking and so intriguing... It just breaks my heart full circle.. well, the movie at least because like Darren said, we will never know the real truths
He is a good actor! Classy and respectful reply.
This guy was fantastic being the fanatic.
I heard donatella say that she won't watch it because she doesn't want people portraying her brother in a dishonest fashion...... Well they don't. They portray him very well and accurately so she should really watch some of it before making up her mind
Well she probably thinks she is as beautiful as Penelope Cruz but she actually looks like a monster
Donatella probably didn’t watch it. However she gave Penelope her personal blessings to portray her.
@@angelica8000 - why you gotta be so hateful (in EVERY post)? Donatella is a Goddess. Who are you?
well there's certainly more to it than perhaps portraying her brother in a dishonest fashion, it's seeing her brother's death all over again and feeling the sorts of emotions that had been healed 21 years ago.
You just told that woman she should watch how her brother died accurately. Come on people. Have some common sense why she wouldnt like it in the first place.
Darren played this role so amazingly he had me actually rooting for cunanan and that's absolutely crazy to me.
He really deserved the Emmy and the golden globe for this role
I watched this show today and Darren Criss' performance was great. He is a genius actor.
he's a very talented, smart and handsome man. i respect him so much
Brilliant actor. So admirable.
Absolutely riveting Darren is one of the best actors of my generation ,watch out for this guy your going to see a lot of him.The dance scene is truly spectacular,he deserves a lot of awards for this series.
hes interviews are just as brilliant and outstanding as his acting and bring to life the role of Andrew cunanun
I always feel in two minds with the show. On the one hand it is so beautifully crafted, and brilliantly performed. It is a triumph of acting, writing and filming I know some people didn't like that it was not in chronological order but I think the story makes the most sense told that way. And Darren Criss in particular is TERRIFYING as Andrew Cunanan- he can say something in a way that feels enticing and charming and then repeat the exact same line but in a tone with a facial expression that just makes him scary. As if he said something so witty you decided to follow him home, then he said it again and you were desperate to leave and get as far as possible. Especially when I knew him as Blaine Anderson first, he went from being an all american teenage dream to being a nightmare.
And I love it for that. I want to enjoy it more and engage with it the way I do American Horror Story for instance which has a similar vibe, fantastic cast of characters and actors and filmed so masterfully (though it often has consistency issues somehow in the space of one season but hey that's Ryan Murphy for you). Which I make fan art of- but when I do that I'm drawing witches and ghosts... I'm drawing things that aren't real. I can't engage with this in the same way because even if I'm making it a point to draw Penelope Cruz or Darren Criss, I'm still drawing a murderer. I'd be drawing a real life murder victim and I'd be rehashing the pain of real people who really lost someone and are 100% not over it entirely because you never will be. For me there's a veil of fiction I can just enjoy the acting and the filming and have a good time but once the episode is over and I get what I want out of it I'm left with this grim reminder that dotted all over America are families that lost brothers, husbands, fathers, uncles even just a friend and they're never going to get over that all while this show dwelled on the killer.
Just finished watching the show and it is amazing! Everyone working on it made an incredible job
he is fabulous in this role. great series
So deserving of a Emmy award terrific acting I binged watched in one night ,this guy is simply brilliant
Great series. Edgar Ramirez & Penelope Cruz were brilliant.
The acting was fun to watch. Didn't even see Penelope in her role until about 3 or 4 episodes in. She freaking _vanished_ because I'm spoiler shy, so I generally don't like to know anything before I watch a show and find myself like, "Woah! Is that...? No, wait, yeah! No, I dunno... IMDB! Ctrl+f!!" And gotta say I perfectly loved/hated her portrayal of Donatella all the way to the end.
i just finished this season. it was absolutely amazing. so thrilling. all of these actors were brilliant in their roles, ESPECIALLY darren. he deserves all of the awards
His performance was spell-binding, wow!
what a fantastic job Darren did in playing this role. shows what an amazing actor he is as I completely forgot he was Blaine in glee lol. and he was so brave to take on the role...very worthy of more dramatic work and if this is the type of work he's capable of now , I look forward to what he can do with his career as he grows as an actor.
Just watched the show a couple days ago and swear haven’t been able to get 90’s music out of my head since lol
They did a great job. Especially darren with his performance of Andrew Cunanen! 👏
Very well said!
Darren you were amaaaaaaazing! I loved this series & really do not understand the bad reviews on IMDB. Yes there’s a lot of fictional drama but it’s mainly focused on Cunanan & you portrayed him in a terrifying but excitable way in which I couldn’t wait to watch the next episode 🙌🏻
Criss looks so much like Cunanan. Great casting!
He's a VERY GREAT actor and what he has done as Cunanan was F*cking AMAZING and so Brilliant. That's the most important.
He was absolutely amazing! Perfect acting
Christ could he be any more good Looking!
Right?!? I'm in LOOOVVEEEEEEE hahaahahah
Compelling series. Enjoyed it.
I love him in glee, I love him when he was in ahs (though it was a cameo role) and now I love him even more with American crime.
I’m going to have to watch this film. I really like this guy as a singer. Seems like he is pretty chill.
He was just so fantastic he really was
He played so damn well!
Brilliantly discussed
This guy deserves all of the awards. ALL OF THEM.
This was totally awesome
Hes a very good actor !
He is very sweet
He was brilliant in the series!
His acting was brilliant. In one fluid facial movement alone in a key scene in less than three seconds, he moved seamlessly from shock to pathos to dejection. He has a future and should be rewarded for this performance.
I watched the whole season twice. I've first seen their season 1 OJ Simpson. I love how they tell the story, great casting and good actors. My newfound favorite tv series. 🥰🙌
I love you and you did a really god job omg you were so real ..
lindissimo, falou tudo
Darren Crris is a brilliant and flawless actor....
I have to say this guy is an amazing actor
I think the title is very wrong ... It sets you for something else..
He’s so articulate
Darren did very well I loved it
Darren deserves the world
Darren ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, gifted and smartm
I remember when the murder was in the news.
How old are you
You slayed the role, just amazing !!
It was great!
I haven't seen anything past the premiere episode. I do want to see how the story unfolds. Darren was creepy good in this role from what I did see.
Starting with episodes two through eight, they do what I think is great and go backwards in each episode. From hiding in plain sight in Miami to working at a drugstore for $6 an hour. But not being happy with that, he lays the groundwork for the lifestyle he was accustomed to mainly through lies. The standout episode is the aftermath of Jeff Trail's death when David Madson is a forced accomplice.
Just watched the show and man did he kill the role (no pun intended). I remember watching him on StarKids! Go Darren
He was fantastic in this!
He is doing a great job ... I was bored and starting watching this series and omg he scares me so their for he is a great actor... He is putting out fear in real life... He is making me question people and the lies they say... Ugh lol i regret watching this series but i cant stop watching
I started watching the series and by the third or fourth episode after our beloved Hawkeye from mash LOL was murdered I couldn’t watch it anymore. The violence was just unbelievable and the behavior so dysfunctioning-I just couldn’t do it.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm sure he was great in the role.
I can understand why the Versace family would be upset about the show. It's mere speculation on my part, but I can imagine their ire being drawn from something as simple as the movie's title. It's called, "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" but really the story focuses on the life of Andrew Cunnanan.
Gianni Versace was just ONE of his victims.
It's an odd title, in my humble opinion.
Was that just to draw a lot of viewers?
Most people probably wouldn’t have given it a second look if it was titled “the life of Andrew cunanan”
@@dorothystuartmcdole4462 AGREED.
It's not a good title, but I STILL want to see it.
Smart, lovely man. And a fantastic actor x
I can understand why his family would be upset about the season, but the show is called American Crime Story so it will be exploring the character of the murderer. He acted so well, I was really invested in how it all went down since his father abandoned him. Still the point is that Andrew tried to destroy Gianni but he only made him become immortal.
Definitely a serious actor and a very good one at that. I wonder if Marvel or DC would be knocking on his doors too one day..
EVERYDAY...................
Кунанан Эндрю принес успешную роль Даррен Крису.🎊🎉🎊🎉🎉🎊💫💫💫
It's Versace not Versaci
Donatella said the same thing in her interview
hahaha!
Con esa cara se te perdona todo hijo
The acting was very good, but, the fact that they told the story backwards, really hurt the series.
I've seen people critique it, but I actually thought the backward structure was engaging and really paid off, especially once it got to the last two episodes. There's something about having already spent so much time trying to figure this person out and how he became so broken, and then getting to episode 8 where suddenly it all clicks into place and you go "woah, suddenly it all makes so much sense now!". It makes you actively reflect on all of the previous episodes much more, I think, than if that episode had been the first thing we saw of Andrew. Plus, it bookends really powerfully with the finale, the way we just spent a good chunk of time getting to see all the potential that was there with Andrew in his childhood, only to snap back to the cold reality of how things ended.
Maybe most importantly of all, though, I think it was VERY necessary for the show not to start with us feeling sympathy for Andrew. It would have been too easy to want to forgive the utter brutality of what he did if we started with the knowledge of where he came from off the bat. We still eventually get there, and I DID come away with a certain degree of sympathy for him, but the structure made it so that the show didn't grant him that sympathy until we had already formed even MORE sympathy for all of his innocent victims. We only got to see him as a victim himself after a much longer time of seeing him as the monster he became, and I think that's hugely important in remaining sensitive to the real life people whose lives were lost or destroyed by these horrific crimes.
I suppose it is all in the eyes of the individual beholder, however, I felt that it would have been better to have told it all in order. Not backwards. The reason why is because when I was watching the show with my mother, neither one of us could understand what was going on, & then when we would see the following episode, it was like the previous episodes were more like spoilers, than anything. I would have much preferred to have watched the story forward, not backward.
Yeah, I guess it really just kind of depends on what you tend to find most engaging in storytelling. For me, me with a story like ACS Versace I don't necessarily feel the need to not know what's going to happen next. I actually find it a lot more engrossing FOR the fact that you know exactly how things are going to end, so there's this powerful sense of dread over everything leading up.
Of course that's not to say that it would work for every story, or that suspense can't be really effective a lot of the time, but for this story I just personally found that it stuck with me much more being told in the way that it was. It does take some more active engagement to follow it going backwards- it's not a "casual watch" kind of show- but I appreciate a show that challenges the viewer a little to really pay attention, you know? And I think having it told that way made for some really interesting pay offs also.
For instance, at the end of episode 6, Andrew tells David about his childhood growing up, and the completely natural assumption (for both David and the audience) is that he's continuing to lie through his teeth. And yet then, a couple episodes later we find out about his childhood, and low and behold, a pretty good portion of what he'd told him was true! There was still some stuff about his dad that he couldn't bring himself to be honest about, but almost all the rest of it was legit. And it makes you go "... wow, he actually WAS genuinely attempting to be honest with him... that's kind of sad that David couldn't possibly have known that." So yeah, that's just one example, but I thought there were a few different moments like that where it really paid off that the further along the story went, the more things clicked in place.
Stephanie L I agree completely
i thought it was perfectly told the way it was....
Darren Criss, you portrayed Andrew Cunanan with compelling conviction! After watching "The Assasination of Gianni Versaci, I am totally scared of you.
Yeah the attention might be on cunanan but I really really despised him. I couldn’t bear to watch most scenes, especially what david experienced basically being held hostage.
The Versace family should only be grateful for all the publicity to their trade mark.
This must have greatly boosted their business.
I hope this is sarcasm...
sarcasm?
i don'y think they need any kind of publicity. Versace is one of the most important brand in the whole world and a tv series is irrelevant in terms of advertising. Plus 80% of the people who are watching it couldn't afford Versace anyway, so...
as if they needed it
Fausto Levantesi I know multiple people who did not even know who he was until this show
I can understand why any of the families will hate to see this character study of a murderer at the expense of their loved ones. I do think that the series was respectful to Versace and the other victims though. Jeff Trails story was very sad in particular. Interestingly I did not particularly like Versace when he was alive but since this series, I liked him very much and came to respect his genius. It is a fascinating story told by a very talented set of actors.
He was sensational in ACS
Rip versace
This guy is so gorgeous 😍🤤
Darren Criss was phenomenal in this role. The man was paid to do a job, nothing personal. Although the series told the stories from both points of views, I could see how the Versace family may feel like the series “glorified” the killer in a way.
I love him 😍.. F… actor he really make you hate him 😅..that’s GREAT ACTOR DO!!
Although I am obsessed with the whole show (I've watched this season over four times already) and love Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan, I remember learning about race in my Race and Class in Media course in college and how Hollywood gets criticized for white-washing, and, although Darren Criss is, just as Andrew Cunanan, mixed White and Filipino, there seems to be a little bit of "white-washing" going on. Darren Criss is clearly racially ambiguous, but he doesn't look East Asian at all as compared to Andrew Cunanan. Then, we have the younger version of Andrew Cunanan, played by Edouard Holdener, who looks way more East Asian than Darren Criss. Just an observation, and kinda wondered if anybody agreed. :)
Stefan Ackermann I don’t see the white washing aspect at all. But I respect you’re opinion bc obviously Darren doesn’t look that Filipino but Andrew Cunanan himself wasn’t that cultured with his East Asian side. The community Andrew lived in caused him to disconnect from his culture and adapt to other cultures. He wouldn’t even tell people at times that he was Filipino and he would find his Italian side more appealing.
Filipinos are South East Asian, a slightly different look from East Asian.
Agree that Criss’s Filipino side is not as apparent. Still, he resembles Cunanan enough
so why is it wrong for darren to play cunanan while it´s fine for penelope cruz to play donatella or edgar ramirez to play gianni, or even ricky martin as d´amico? Would that be brown washing or is that racist?
@@ger4747 Penelope Cruz is White. She's from Spain, a European country.
Darren did a fantastic job portraying Cunanan. The entire production is superb. However, I wouldn't be able to watch if my family member was portrayed, like Versace and the other victims. It would simply be too disturbing and painful. I can understand their reactions.
God I remember when A Very Potter Musical came out...
blaine is so smart
Damn he looks like Isco Alarcon
