How many questions did you get RIGHT in today’s pop quiz?? ALSO- You can view a complete bagua map including colors and elements for both Northern and Southern hemispheres in the video called “Understanding Your Kua Number” and “Feng Shui for the Living Room” - both linked in the description box 😊
I chose the pampas grass initially because I could not tell how fake or realistic the two looked like, until you got up close! I never really understood Feng Shui until now, actually. I’m going to look at everything a little bit differently! Especially the spikes, cracks and poison arrows! Thanks! 🙏🏼 Oh, my husband is a Tiger, and his favorite blanket is his Tiger blanket. He also recently found his childhood blanket with an eagle or hawk. Both big, bold, singular pictures. They’re both in the bedroom! Ugh. Maybe that’s why I have trouble sleeping! 😂
This was so much fun ! You're in my favorite store ! I did pretty well on the quiz. On your trick question, I picked the seahorse because they are so graceful and soothing to watch. I've got animal figures and images everywhere. I love dragonflies. When you were showing the throws, there was one behind you that caught my eye. It had dragonflies on it. I also have many plants. Cacti are some of my favorites. Can't give 'em up. 🙃 I'm wondering what snails signify as I've been drawn to them lately. I will look up your other videos on feng shui and see how well (or not) I've done with my design. ☺️
Plastics are something that the original practitioners of feng shui could never have anticipated. When I practice feng shui, I try to imagine how they would feel about plastic. All of it is made out of petrochemicals; synthetic fabrics shed polymers every time you wash them, and they enter the water supply that way. Human beings have plastic polymers in their bloodstream from consuming food that was packaged or stored in plastic. Some scientists are saying that in just a few short years, there will be more plastic in the ocean than there are fish. It’s nearly impossible to avoid plastic as a consumer, but when it comes to home decor, bedding, and the like, maybe we can do our best to avoid it.
That’s an excellent point Mary when it comes to Feng Shui. Modern practitioners may advise you to consider the color qualities of anything plastic used as decor, since back then everything was handmade 💛
It annoys me no end with bed placement when feng shui isnt considered, 3 birds just did one recently and put a bed under the window. The womens whose house it is really didnt like the idea and felt it was off, but the other convinced her which was such a shame.
@@zellalaing5439 Agree and also the door being ajar pointing at the bed--close the door. I like the rule to make your bed every day--the first thing you do for yourself for a calm life. I also have hung a curtain across the opening in our wall to the closet--to complete the wall (I draw it closed at night).
LOVE all things Feng Shui in this channel. This video inspired me to request a guide on how to decorate with clocks. I've always been against placing clocks on active energy common areas (like the living room, dining room or kitchen) because it can keep guests from enjoying the present moment because they're being constantly reminded of the time. I know it's functional to have the time displayed on the wall at all times, but it can also get people fixated on the time instead of focusing on the present moment. Thoughts on this anyone?
I'm with you Jackie! I don't have a single clock displayed in my home, never had one. If someone wants to see the time, their phones are usually right beside them lol I totally agree, clocks keep viewers in check and I don't like that looming feeling
This was actually the first real in depth lesson I had on the subject. Being inspired by your previous video on trends and jewel tones, I painted my North room Tanzanite blue and Black Sapphire in matte. Even the ceiling is going dark. High gloss Black Sapphire trim. I didn’t know it was the perfect spot for this color until this video! My South wall has the electric fireplace. So weird that these things just happened to go where they should, naturally.
Thanks Julie I love all your videos!! Especially the feng shui tips!! Great reminders for those of us that are always upgrading and redesigning our homes!!Enjoy your upbeat rhythm!! Thanks Cindy
This was incredibly informative Julie! I never realized how certain decor choices could affect the energy flow in my home until I saw this. Now, I'm inspired to make some changes and create a more balanced environment for myself and my family.
Love watching your videos Julie, especially on Feng shui. Home Goods is my favorite shop to visit once a week, enjoy window shopping there. Thank you for the tips.
Hi Julie I like wind chimes but prefer the wood ones. The sound is soothing and quiet. I keep mine at the front door which is at the south west corner of the house. But I only keep it out in good weather. Once it gets cold no one wants to hear a tropical wind chime so it’s stored inside until next season. I really enjoy bringing my seasonal decor outside! My brass candle stick holders are in the living room. They are different heights and I enjoy changing candles for the seasons. Now they are green. In winter they are red. In autumn orange. I do have small animal Knick knacks here and there but nothing too big and I would never buy an indoor animal statue. I did however have a lot of large stuffed animal toys for the children. They are in the attic and many given away. I am looking forward to seeing your spring summer decor! I bet your yard just looks like a playground now ! But that will change before you know it! 🥰❤️👏🏻
Always so excited when you post a Feng Shui video! I would love to see a video about "how to decorate with red" as part of your color series if you get the time! Thank you for the amazing content as always :) ❤

What about cactus in the front yard of a house in Arizona specifically Mojave Valley. Please advise thank you. I'm looking at houses there and cactus is an every front yard, Labeled as desert landscaping.
No cactus at all Lisa (according to Feng Shui). They’re filled with barbed thorns/ prickles that act like tiny poison arrows. Literally lodges into your skin upon contact/ Figuratively shoots these harmful spines. I understand you can’t escape them in the desert. Just don’t decorate your interior with cacti. 🌵
I'm in the desert, too, and can't escape the native plants. But I do make sure there aren't any at the front entrance area. I hope that is good enough.
SO much fun and useful Feng Shui information - thank you, Julie! Regarding flower arrangements in a smooth vase, I would love your thoughts on a few spiky flowers in the center (which sometimes have tiny soft flowers going up the stems (like salvia) -- or not), as the spikier additions add so much to the overall composition, but might be considered poison arrows. Thank you!
This is really interesting. I have met a lot of Chinese people on Gran Canaria, and I have an overall good impression of the Chinese culture. The people we met at Chinese restaurants and shops, were all over friendly and polite, cleanly and orderly. I really liked them. :)

No rules, I love secondhand furniture! Easiest way to bring some soul into your space. My tip would be to make sure the items are laundered and clean before placing them in your home. If you’re unsure about the energy of a particular item, you can also sage it first before bringing in. Not a Feng Shui rule, just one that I like to consider 💚

Avoid mirrors that cut your body in half 7.) Hi question....you mention in this video that bathrooms should not be decorated because that is where chi goes to died ..do you mean only accessories or in general?..Im asking because you have a bathroom full of paintings , and black paint in your home......so Im confused... and that is why Im asking...sorry Im trying to learn..Great topic ...
Excellent question! As a modern designer, I love to fill every room in my home with things I collect and admire. As a Feng Shui practitioner, I combat all the bathroom decorations with elements that help block negative energy (chandelier under beam/ plants/ images of plants) and amplify the south sector (brass for fire/ red vanity). So that I can get the best of both worlds. I hope this helps you make thoughtful decisions when it comes to your own bathroom design! 💚
@@JulieKhuu I always think "What would Julie say?" when I go home decor shopping haha especially when I'm not sure. I was offered a peacock artwork piece ; is it considered active energy? Cause I put it in my bedroom and now I'm concerned ... haha thanks in advance
My front door opening to the foyer also faces a wall at the end of the foyer hallway. What can I do on that wall? Should I place a painting and what would be the right option to go for?
@JulieKhuu The second you picked that one up, I was like, heyyy, that's really nice! I love how modern/elegant/versatile it was. Can't wait to see where it goes!
This was good and I love a pop quiz. I have a decor piece from HG that is like a JACKS childrens game. Its pointed but the ends are rounded. So I don't know if thats a poison arrow or not. I have it on a table thats in the southwest corner. I appreciate feng shui and its teachings. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Great content - really interesting and fun; I like to “dabble” in Feng Shui and hope to be able to focus more time and energy on it in the future - your videos will be so helpful! I did pretty good on the pop quiz thanks to your great examples! Well presented!

Hello Julie from Australia. Question please- for the Southern Hemisphere is the feng shui map reversed totally? The bagua map. I’m confused. Thanking you in anticipation. Jacqui. Love your channel very informative.
Hi Jacqui- the elements are mirrored since compass directions don’t change. I break down exactly how to use the bagua map for the Southern Hemisphere in the Bagua map + Kua number videos ☺️
I love this HomeGoods! But so does everyone else because what you didn’t see in this video is how everyone stopped right in the aisles to see what I was filming! 🤪😂
First time and subscribed before you started! Except for the trick quiz, I got them all right. I’ll watch your videos, as I’m about to remodel my home. Thank you❣️
How/what do you do with areas that are considered South East? Or North West? This is confusing for me. When I am walking into a room it could be south, but in a long room it changes when I sit down. Is there a rule? In my life, I have very few beliefs But I truly believe in Feng Shui. I got the best job by following a few ways. (Years ago). Thank you. This is a great video.
Amazing video thank you so much for this it was truly illuminating. I want to learn more about the colors and where they should be placed, do you have a book suggestion I can read about this?
Our open plan apartment (above our son's workshop) is aligned nearly 30 degrees off the north/south axis. In fact, most homes in the Western world are skewed that way, more or less. How do we follow the Feng Shui principles based on compass direction?
Watch my video on Understanding the Bagua map / Feng Shui for the living room. I break down how to overlay the map onto your floor plan no matter what direction it sits on Marilynn. Good luck! 💖
I've studied Feng Shui for years for personal use. I've given advice to many people and they've been happy with the changes. I've also read about Feng Shui for business, but it's not addressed enough. Please do a video on this. For instance, don't block the entrance to a store with a display table. Restaurants need photos with two or more people, to encourage customers to come eat. Hang a bell on 9" red ribbon on the door to encourage customers.
Commercial Feng Shui is tricky since it involves both exterior surroundings and interior environments for growth and prosperity. Less about the user, more about the design.
I purchased a little silver planter with Buddha like faces on each side of the planter. I intended to put it with a little live plant in the bathroom on the main floor which is on the west side. My thought was it looks like metal for the west area. However I think I read someplace that there shouldn’t be anything with deities in the bathroom. The bathroom is gray and white and quite simple. Would appreciate any insights / guidance.

Wood wind chimes are great for the east sector Margaret! Feng Shui prefers hollow metal, but I don’t think the neighbors will mind one bit 🙌🏻😂

Awesome, FIELD TRIP..I really love my natural movement looking pampas now..Another master class..👍👍
Just watch for the dust that collects on pampas. You can use hairspray to keep it from shedding more, but you can’t help how the dust settles 👍
I get housework PTSD looking at pampas grass. It was everywhere in the 70's, and I mean everywhere... it collected dust and shed bits like crazy.

What about cactus in the front yard of a house in Arizona specifically Mojave Valley. Please advise thank you. I'm looking at houses there and cactus is an every front yard, Labeled as desert landscaping.
As long as it's not spiky, cactus is good cuz they tend to be round
No cactus at all Lisa (according to Feng Shui). They’re filled with barbed thorns/ prickles that act like tiny poison arrows. Literally lodges into your skin upon contact/ Figuratively shoots these harmful spines. I understand you can’t escape them in the desert. Just don’t decorate your interior with cacti. 🌵
I disagree @elmohead for the reasons I stated above
In my culture, cactus at the front or back are spiritual guards that protect from people with bad intentions and kinda like an evil eye deflector.
I'm in the desert, too, and can't escape the native plants. But I do make sure there aren't any at the front entrance area. I hope that is good enough.

Thank you for watching love! 🫶🏻
@@JulieKhuu I always think "What would Julie say?" when I go home decor shopping haha especially when I'm not sure.
I was offered a peacock artwork piece ; is it considered active energy? Cause I put it in my bedroom and now I'm concerned ... haha thanks in advance
Thank you for the insightful tips.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
My front door opening to the foyer also faces a wall at the end of the foyer hallway. What can I do on that wall? Should I place a painting and what would be the right option to go for?
Thank you for sharing this helpful video
Glad it was helpful!
I absolutely ❤️ ❤️ ❤ all the Feng Shui content! The only thing I wish was getting to see your shopping haul at the end! 🛍
I only purchased the black wind chime which I’m going to film myself installing outside my home 🏡🤗
@JulieKhuu The second you picked that one up, I was like, heyyy, that's really nice! I love how modern/elegant/versatile it was. Can't wait to see where it goes!
Love it ! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
great video! is it not good in feng shui if the bedroom has a big mirror? our bed is facing east and the mirror is in the south .
I love crack glassware and my mom has a black coffee table. It’s so elegant
🖤
This was good and I love a pop quiz. I have a decor piece from HG that is like a JACKS childrens game. Its pointed but the ends are rounded. So I don't know if thats a poison arrow or not. I have it on a table thats in the southwest corner. I appreciate feng shui and its teachings. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Ends are rounded 👍 Feng Shui loves that
Was browsing and your video popped up. Really enjoyed listening and impressed by your knowledge. Thank you have subscribed ❤
Great content - really interesting and fun; I like to “dabble” in Feng Shui and hope to be able to focus more time and energy on it in the future - your videos will be so helpful! I did pretty good on the pop quiz thanks to your great examples! Well presented!
Thank you Kristina! Watch the entire Feng Shui playlist when you have an afternoon off 🤗🩷
I loved the little quiz you did at the end! So fun 😊
Thank you 🤗
Very easy to understand video. Although I already have quite good knowledge of fengshui which all that you mentioned I could relate to, I think your video comes in handy for those that are new to fengshui deco. Great job. 👏
Yay awesome Ally! How’d you do on the pop quiz? 🤗
Loved the video. I am going g to look for one of your books to buy. Thanks
Thank you Lorraine! One of these days 🙌🏻💖
What material sheets should I use for my beds? Can you have succulent plants outdoors or the porch? What plants are best for the entrance?
1. Anything you find comfortable- I love bamboo blends since they’re moisture wicking. Try Cozy Earth
2. Succulents are great outdoors
3. Watch my video on best plants according to Feng Shui for more tips 🪴
Love 🩷love your new hair 🩷!
Thank you so much 💖
I loved this! Thank you. I’m liking brass pieces now-taking me back to my childhood.
Also, your Home Goods is way better than mine!!
I love this HomeGoods! But so does everyone else because what you didn’t see in this video is how everyone stopped right in the aisles to see what I was filming! 🤪😂
I wondered about that.
First time and subscribed before you started! Except for the trick quiz, I got them all right. I’ll watch your videos, as I’m about to remodel my home. Thank you❣️
Thank you for stopping by love 💗
Loved this!!!!!! More Feng Shui please!
Thank you for watching always! 🙏🏻💗
Yes I did thank you very much 👍👍I love decorating and most of the things you show I have but thanks for the update on how to pick your decor
Thank you for watching Jennifer 💚
I loooove this video, amazing work !
How/what do you do with areas that are considered South East? Or North West? This is confusing for me. When I am walking into a room it could be south, but in a long room it changes when I sit down. Is there a rule? In my life, I have very few beliefs
But I truly believe in Feng Shui. I got the best job by following a few ways. (Years ago). Thank you. This is a great video.
Watch my video on Feng Shui for beginners- I detail how to take compass directions and overlay the bagua map onto your space.
@@JulieKhuu thank you
Amazing video thank you so much for this it was truly illuminating. I want to learn more about the colors and where they should be placed, do you have a book suggestion I can read about this?
Check out my Feng Shui playlist. Start with Feng Shui basics for the home 🏡
I always learn something new, TX
Hope to share more real world applications! 🤗
Julie, do you have a video on coastal ideas???
I don't yet... seems like a fun topic with warmer weather right around the corner!
I love this video, I plan to incoordinate some of these ideas into to my home. Thank you.
Great! Watch my Feng Shui basics video for more details! ✌🏻
What a great fun video!!
Glad you enjoyed it Linda! Thank you for watching 💖
Thank you, Julie! Lots of good info. I liked the quiz at the end too. Stay blessed. 💐
Thank you for watching Kitty! Did you get them all right?! 🤗
You’re so gorgeous so chic!! Love the tips!!
Thank you for watching Rose! 🩷
Love all your videos. Thanks!
Thank you for watching Becky! 🙏🏻💖
No deities in the bathroom (negative waste energy) nor bedroom (place of rest), you’re correct 👍
Wonderful video!! So, we should not have any cactus in our home at all as it represents poison arrow but I love them. Any suggestion please
Tbh if you love them, keep them. You understand the implications and will balance the “poison” with your positive energy and love! 🤗
Hi, your videos are very helpful. What kind of art would you reccomend for the bathroom? Thank you
Wow just found you . Needed this. Subscribed
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel 🙏🏻💗
