TaiwanTalks is doing an excellent coverage of the SCS, Straight of Mallaca and East Asia Sea Disputes between China and other claimant states. Thank you.
Truly as a Filipino we are glad and proud that Japan chose the Philippines as an alliance to solidify maritime security in the south sea, taiwan strait, and wps . Obviously Japan has had a history with Philippines and Asian countries it invaded in ww2, so Japan feels alone in this conflict with China since other countries still have not moved on in forgiving them for their past mistakes in ww2. However, mistakes and conflict makes people smarter, better, stronger, more understanding, more resilient, disciplined, and more humble.. and both Japan and the Philippines need each other to pushback the communist movement. The Filipinos support the new alliance with Japan along with USA as a major player in preserving democracy, with Taiwan and South Korea. The Philippines looks up so much to USA and Japan.
The fact that the Philippines would like to buy the TYPHON MISSILES. There is no escalation here, China escalated by putting missiles in the West Philippine sea island under the EEZ by the Philippines. They escalated it first.
*International laws* are very clear on the South China Sea: - parts of it belong to some ASEAN countries, including the Philippines 🇵🇭, - the rest of it is the international water, - no part of it belongs to China🇨🇳 or Taiwan🇹🇼.
Not absolutely true when a country like has been trying to circumvent the international law with its historical landmarks for instance the nine dashline 😊😊😊

I appreciate the quality and breadth of Taiwan Talks. As a U.S. citizen, I find it disheartening that much of our domestic reporting is often driven by ideology, which leaves little room for genuine dialogue about significant events involving our allies and partners. Our world is much smaller than it once was, and no country can afford to ignore what is happening with its neighbors. I sincerely hope that your platform gains traction and helps educate and raise awareness among many more people.
Er.......the Chinese DF-26 IRBM (it can reach speeds of Mach 12) will take out these launch sites easy. The DF-26 IRBM is in the same class as the Russian IRBM that took out the huge factory in Ukraine. These US defense don't stand a chance lol
Why tf would we Filipinos risk our lives for Taiwan's interest when we don't even acknowledge you as an independent state. Furthermore Taiwan has a much outrageous territorial claim in our EEZ 😂😂
@@amunra5330the typhon is mobile. Those of Chinese and russian missiles will have to travel for 1 to 2 hours before it hits its target. the mobile launchers will be gone by then.

it's a no brainer yes! if china attacks Taiwan the closest neighbors and allies will respond. china will turn the table and simply changes its international status as a pariah country. once it loses the war, Taiwan can legitimize its independence in the UN. therefore Taiwan has a big stake in this and ensure its independent status in the UN. but most of all Taiwan must prioritize its defense expenditure and absolute security force, because the US has its own agenda too. if Taiwan could start acquiring stealth jets either from the US or other sources plus long range missiles, the better it could balance or surpass the equation. it should learn from Ukrain and Israel. Taiwan has the money though.
Japan, Filipina and Taiwan must be powerful and have powerful allies coz dictatorships like the ccp only attack the weakest and most fragile. Thanks for sharing.
Any meaningful coalition arrayed in defense of Taiwan rests upon the 49 San Francisco Peace Treaty signatory powers, Japan included. That coalition should be named United Nations 2.0. The 49 collectively remember that Japan did not cede Taiwan to ANY China. Time for the 49 to draw their collective red line. What prevents the convener of the San Francisco Peace Conference and SFPT article 23(a) “principal occupying power” on former Japanese Taiwan from coming up with such proposal? Note: it is Tsu-ku-ba, Tsukuba University (筑波大学).
To paraphrase: "Japanese Coast Guard has the same sized budget as Tokyo metro fire dept." That is madness. This kind of shortsightedness has to change. Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines need to get serious asap. Of course this low-budget defense spending behavior was demonstrated by NATO as well, at least before the Ukraine war really kicked off.
Unfortunately it is far worse in Europe. Politicians refused to pay for defense for decades claiming that there were eternal peace after the end of the Cold War. As if the Russian attacks on Georgia and Ukraine or the Azerbadjani war on Armenia never happened. That is how stupid our politicians are. Oh, but the EU has its own "defense". It consists of 1 - one - person: a 4-starred general who gets a million dollar salary for doing nothing!
I think usa will do everything to defend Taiwan base on my analysis during Biden, uncertainties rise in Trump and if Philippines still weak specially under water capabilities, I'm sure Philippines will make excuses since Russ showed his presence in Philippines waters
For a long time, countries like Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia have had reclamations, but none harassed their neighbors like China does now. china's greed in the West Philippine Sea has earned it many enemies.
Is there any interests of Asian countries coincide with interests of the United States? Think about those shared interest. Does it make sense that US cares?
