Don't let these people take you away from God. Jesus did not store heavenly treasures but he did have 11 wonderful apostles and other friends who helped Him live a FULL life

Dear sister, I am sorry for your suffering in religious life and the Church. I do believe such negative experience that becomes oppressive to a person can be due to lack of good formation in human/spiritual integration. I experienced stifling in religious life at times, but recognized my need for growth within myself (you may have as well so left).
But in no way did I feel called to leave the Church or religious life. Through healthy communication with superiors, I was able to grow and flourish within the life. You may not have had such an opportunity within?? My prayer is that neither you, nor others reading this will throw the baby out with the bathwater. The vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience are so life-giving and profound when one has the grace and calling to live it. It seems you did not, so were affected so negatively by staying.
But so many saints who have gone before us, and many living today, flourish through our Beautiful Catholic Church founded by Christ (despite the human weaknesses and even evil that has infiltrated).
In the Love of Christ and His Mother!

I think your missing the point here. Your experiences were obviously very different to the sisters. Maybe rather than criticise this lady just listen, a little more deeply to get words. Maybe you got better support than she but if this women are neglected so must that they contemplate or even committ suicide then God's love is not present.
Somebody onced explained to me that sometimes people try to love with an empty heart. They fail to undertake the true definition of love, love is not meant to be twisted and used inorder to exhert controls and manipulate and abuse others. That is love inverted and twisted.
If people are bullied to the extent that they require counselling well then there is evidently extreme
abuses going to a toxic level, which is serving nobody - least of all GOD.
I think some people, who wish to use religious vocations and people's vulnerabilities are clearly mentally/emotionally unstable or have some form of personality disorder or simply just narcissists.
Interestingly Mother Theresa complained of experiencing spiritual dryness for nearly 60 years. She said she addressed a conference in Norway where she win the Noble peace prize and she delivered on Gods in the world. Later rhpugh she toldbher spiritual advisor that she felt a total hypocrite .
She lamented not having felt the love or presence of the Lord from she had left the convent in Ireland and when she commenced her missionary work in India.
You see people confuse the term poverty for economic stability when in fact in scrupture poverty can mean more often spiritual poverty.

Maybe charity poverty and obedience worked for you in order to attain spiritual growth and for that I applaud you but, Christ NEVER actually talks of those three conditions in His gospels.
Talk of obedience but obedience to who and what? Christ talks of His word and He says Blessed are those who hear My word and keep it.
The harsh implementation of the vows chastity poverty and obedience are actually man made that rather than something professed
      by Christ.
Yes He does say take up your cross, If you wish . to follow Me. But we ALL , ( the church or the followers of Christ) have that opportunity to carry our crosses each of us in our own daily lives.

The evil was not sn infiltration rather it was
      there within all along

The last probably did not get the nurturing you claimed to have received but then you add your own judgement and make outrageous claims that she did so because SHE lacked grace. Turn it back on her of course. Maybe her superiors were ones who were lacking in grace and maybe they need to change their approach in the way yet love and support their religious figures. Humiliation is NOT a good strategy. Good advice discussion and active listening us always a better option.
Maybe the church and the religious siperiors need to more mindful

For the need to listen and engage in prayer and contemplation with the novices and religious sisters (maybe on a one to one basis) to facilitate their spiritual growth and to understand that everybody is different with different talents and abilities. It is also alarming to hear that people aren't allowed to occupy roles they are specifically trained for, nor permitted to make a positive contribution by using their unique talents and abilities, particularly in the fields of healthcare - all in the name of crushing pride- Who then performs the medical duties, the cook , cleaner or engineer?

I think she said on The Turning podcast that the sisters she lived with were from all different countries, so they began speaking English in a way that was easier to understand for the non-native speakers. I imagine being around lots of different accents and in different countries, her English changed.
