- Join us for this travel guide to Glasgow, Scotland as we highlight 20 of the best things to do in Glasgow including visiting distilleries, trendy restaurants, hopping pubs, fascinating museums and more attractions.
This is our second time visiting Glasgow, UK and our city guide is a combination of footage from our visit this year and last year. Glasgow has a thriving food scene (both Scottish food and International) and we give you a thorough food tour as we bite our way around the city.
In terms of major attractions Glasgow (Glaschu) doesn't have many iconic places to visit as nearby Edinburgh; however, I feel one of the advantages it has over Edinburgh is that the city is more spread out and each neighborhood has a distinct character.
One of our favorite places to visit was the University of Glasgow which has a campus that would make Harry Potter proud. Whether we were visiting breweries or distilleries or having seafood for lunch or dinner we found no shortage of things to do in Glasgow, Scotland.
Now let's explore Glasgow (Glesga) together!

20 Things to do in Glasgow, Scotland travel guide video transcript:
In today’s video we’re going to be showing you around Glasgow, Scotland. This is a city that we visited last autumn and then again this summer, and on both visits, we ate like kings and queens because it turns out, Glasgow is a great destination for foodies.
Since we never got around to making a travel guide on our first visit, today we’re going to be combining the footage from both of those trips to show you some of the best things to do in Glasgow and also some of the best places to eat and drink it. So let’s get started!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Glasgow, Scotland. We loved our two visits and we’d gladly return for a 3rd. This is an amazing city for foodies and there are so many great bars, restaurants, breweries, and distilleries to visit.
Also FYI - if you’re already visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow is just a short 50-minute train ride away, and it’s a city with its own unique vibe.
If there are any other fun things to do in Glasgow that you’d like to share with travellers, feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!
This is part of our Travel in Scotland video series showcasing Scottish food, Scottish culture and Scottish cuisine.

Probably the greatest city I've ever visited where the people are so friendly, funny, quirky, bit rude, warm, genuine, loud, and lovable, all in one go!
So.....You were not here long then Steve?....Hahahaha...Joking buddy, even when its raining all the time its the best city in Scotland, bar none....
You forgot foul mouthed and honking.

Glasgow is up there with Tokyo, Santiago, Seattle, and Stockholm for my favorite cities I've visited. It's amazing for introverts and the people here are fun and easy to talk to
Hahahahaha total bollocks!
Just don't get on a bus with them on a Saturday night.
Try goin Govan c if thy easy to talk den
Lol wtf, glasgow, total shit hole
load of shite
I lived here for 62 yrs...All my life !! It looks great.. when they filmed this and showed Glasgow in such a great light !!
Thank you very much! That really means a lot coming from a local. We sure loved visiting and hope to come back again in the future.
Wow you lives there a long time
This actually got me emotional. Thanks for visiting my city! I was born and bred here and my heart will always be in Glasgow. Such a special city that welcomes everyone and anyone with open arms.
Thank yoU! We sure felt welcome and we'd love to return again someday.
I’m missing Glasgow a lot right now. I live in Melbourne, Australia, but my dad and his whole family live in Glasgow. I haven’t been able to visit since before COVID, so I’m living vicariously through UA-cam
I’m traveling to Glasgow at the end of April and this makes me even MORE EXCITED!!! 😍😍😍
Love that the first picture is of the statue with the traffic cone on its head. Anytime that cone gets taken off it is replaced by a random person almost immediately. Favorite thing about Glasgow to be honest.
Hahaha...that is funny Lewis. I had no idea.
@@samuelandaudrey The council tried to make it illegal to cone him again but the residents of Glasgow went 7 shades of mental about it so the council stfu..as a result The horse has one too now.
The saddest thing about Glasgow to be honest.
@@markcaldwell2831go Fuck yourself.
The cone thing started as a regular weekend student prank (which I participated in once) and it was always removed on a Monday. Eventually it became a thing and when the GOMA opened it eventually became a feature and is now seen on shirts and postcards
I visited Glasgow about a decade ago, and really liked the vibe. Thanks for the update. I will have to visit again. Loved the food and drink!
Thanks Edward! I hope you can go back again soon.
It has been enaugh to spend a few month in there to fall in love with this magic city and with the rest of Scotland as well!!
Very nice peaple and incredible landscape!!
I hope i'll return soon!!
Great to hear and hope you can return again soon!

Glasgow is such a great place to eat and drink. Love it!
Thanks Grant!
I wanna visit Scotland one day, I’ve heard people there are so nice and friendly! ❤️
Hope you can soon! That was the vibe we got.
Woah I didn’t expect this video to teach me something about my own city but I did! Thanks
Thank you! That is a high compliment coming from a local :)
Great video of Glasgow! We went last year and need to revisit soon!
Glasgow is amazing for food, drink, music, art and architecture.
If you do return I cannot stress enough (as someone who was born in the west end of this city - my first house was across great Western Road from the botanic gardens) check out some of the reseraunts and cafés on Byres Road and Aston Lane.
Also take the short train rides either south to Largs (Nardinis do the best icecream) or northwest to Balloch and the shores of Loch Lomond.
You could also try the subcrawl (but only if your gin, whisky and beer tasting experiences in Scotland have turned you into seasoned drinkers).
The glasgow subway is a circle with 15 stations. You start at a pub near one, have a drink, get on the subway, get out at the next stop, nearest pub, drink, repeat.
15 stations. Good luck :P
Thanks for sharing these tips, Anthony!
You paint the city in a great light, there’s places you’ve mentioned that I’m going to try, didn’t know they were there! I live about 10 miles outside the city, but work in it every day, too many tourists bang on about Edinburgh and don’t give Glasgow a chance, great video 👍😁
Thank you Craig! We loved visiting.
thanks for such great comments of my home town , and what you caught on camera .
Thank you very much! We loved visiting. Anything you'd recommend as a local that we missed?
Really enjoyed seeing this perspective to my awesome City!
Omg I’m so hungry-thanks for making our city look so good and happy you enjoyed your visit!, that pulled pork sandwich though...yum x
Thanks Jason! We had a fun time in Glasgow, and that pulled pork was divine!
Just booked myself a birthday trip there for December. I can't wait!
Fantastic video you two!! So informative and had me licking my lips at the thought of spending time in what looks to be a truly magnificent city of culture!!
Thanks Gary! Hope you have a great trip!
It is until you actually get there.
20 Things to do in Glasgow, No.1 A pub crawl. I can't wait to see the other 19 episodes.
Great video guys. Welcome to my country. I can recommend anybody visiting Scotland to go to a restaurant which specializes in seafood and order the biggest mixed seafood platter you can. I know good fresh seafood can be found in many countries, but what I do have to say is that the cold clean water of the north Atlantic produces amazing quality. I know some are sqeamish about eating fresh oysters but those which come from the Scottish islands have the purest, cleanest taste of the ocean I have had anywhere.
Thank you very much! That is a great suggestion. Thanks for sharing.
visiting Glasgow soon I can't wait feeling lost though
No Offence but this is about Glasgow.
It's so weird to see what other people think of Glasgow and Scotland thanks for the video
Thank you! We had such a great time in Glasgow.
Let’s face it. There’s only one place in Glasgow that is really worth visiting. That fortress on Edmiston Drive. Greatest sight that I have ever seen! ❤️⚽️💙 🇬🇧 🐻
I live 8 miles from Glasgow and you've shown me places(testaraunts) I never knew existed. Many thnx
Thank you! Hope you can check them out soon.
I live in Glasgow and the same goes for me
Oh wow! My wife and I have been there. I actually like the fish and chips in Scotland. We had the beer sampler as well.
That's awesome Randall! That place was so chill and the beer and food delicious. I think Glasgow has a really underrated food scene.
I never knew about that place at The Barras. Great video and nice to see you both had a great time. 👍🏻🏴
Thank you very much Aaron! We loved visiting.
one Nice place !
Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are gems !
They're great cities to visit and so different from each other :)
yes, glasgow is a shithole and edinburgh is not..
Great Video. Glasgow is a more modern city compared to Edinburgh which has lot of historical sites like medieval forts, palaces.... remnants of Scottish monarchy. I would highly recommend doing a free tour of City Chambers located near George Square which was built like a palace with imported marble and tiles from all over the world. It has amazing architecture and history about city's glorious past, serving as an industrial hub in the heydays of British Empire. Also don't miss using the subway as it is very convenient and economical way to travel to all city attractions.
We didn't stay long enough to explore or visit other places but you must include Glasgow in your itinerary if you are visiting Edinburgh. It is only 45 minutes from Edinburgh and you can easily catch your train back to London from here. To do justice to all the marvelous sights in Scotland, ideally spend 3 days in Edinburgh and 2 days in Glasgow.
I’m from here & LOVED this wee guide!!
Thank you, Louise! That means a lot to us coming from a local.
That lad was lucky he came out the barras alive after wearing a polo shirt with an orange sash!! Haha, great video though pals.
PS: If you're staying in Glasgow for a while, you can get a train to Balloch which takes you to the bottom of Loch Lomond, some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland.
Thank you! Hope we can visit that next time.
aye i know, i wuz there aboot 22 yr ago, took the bike way me, very pretty scenery!!
Hi Guys, Just stumbled across your videos. I'm from Glasgow and I've never been to half those places. Thanks for making our city look amazing!! All the best - God bless !
Thank you very much! We sure enjoyed visiting. Anything that you think we missed as a local?
Love your video's thanks for sharing all of these great places makes me want to travel even more LOL Take care :)
Thank you very much! Hope you can visit Glasgow someday :)
Nice city really and you had a nice time visiting it!
Thank you! It was great to spend more time in Glasgow :)
Awesome info, love seeing travel guides that are fun and easy to watch! So I think I need to add Scotland to the bucket list!
Thank you very much! Would highly recommend Scotland! We love visiting whenever we can :)
Can I suggest that if you return to Scotland a well planned tour of the countryside would be very rewarding. Walking or driving through places like the Trossachs or the Great Glen will make you never want to leave. There's a distinct quality to the scenery which changes with the seasons but always tugs at the heartstrings. Both places are very accessible from Glasgow or Edinburgh although Stirling, with its castle and important local historical sites ( Bannockburn and Stirling bridge, popularised in Braveheart) would be the ideal base. There is so much to see in such a relatively small country.
As a Glaswegian filmmaker I really enjoyed this! You even visited places that I've never been to haha. Great format though and cheers from this rainy city guys! D
Thank you very much! Means a lot to us coming from a local. Anything you think we missed out on?
@@samuelandaudrey I actually think you covered many of the spots that I would have recommended! Maybe some shots of the Clydeside - armadillo, science center etc are all I can think of hehe. It's great to see the city through your eyes though! Makes me think I should appreciate it more lol
My expereince of the Barras. 1. The Auld Market - Going with my Dad to get "Copied" Cassettes of computer games for my ZX Spectrum computer in the early 80's. 2. Plus getting chips whilst my Dad popped in for a quick beer in the "Sarrie Heid"...Saracens Head Bar 3. The Barras....Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom....One of the best live venues ever...Saw sooooo many bands there....R.E.M, The Cure, The Smiths, The Pogues, U2, The list goes on 4. Now that it has become "Culturd" as we say in Scotchland....it is brilliant again. Loved that you loved it guys x
Thanks Paul! You saw some amazing shows. Oh man, what bands! The best of the best.

So glad I had leftover pizza to eat while watching this! I hope to go to Scotland in the next 5 years. Looks so cool!

It is a very cool city to visit!
London may have more money and Vienna more culture;
Rome may have more history and Paris more style.
But Glasgow has the biggest heart.
We loved visiting Glasgow.

Hey I'm moving to Glasgow next month- thanks for telling me places I have to check out
That is great to hear Hannah!
It's a well kept secret but one of the best buildings to visit is the Glasgow city chambers on George Square, it is absolutely stunning inside and they do 2 free tours every day.
Thanks for sharing that great tip Scott!

Wonderful place. Scotland.
They have towns centuries old and great restaurants and so much more. Its worth exploring to follow in the shoes of my ancestors who they were the history they did and more
Great video, you make traveling fun and effortless
Thank you very much! :)
Potato/potato risotto/risotto let's call the whole thing off.
Nice video 👍 Fun people.
You folks really know how to enjoy yourselves. I'm discovering here places to eat and drink I'd never heard of! I think Glasgow has a different buzz to Edinburgh but Edinburgh has the old town and the fantastic Princes Street Gardens views. Glasgow curries are the best (possibly outside of India). Next time have a couple of curries.
Thank you very much Terry! We'll definitely grab a curry the next time we visit :)
If you are back in glasgow, there are so many good cafes/brunch spots in the southside! (cafe strange brew, potbelly, gnom, bramble ect). Also a great thing to do is climb the tower in the lighthouse on mitchell lane as you get a great view of the city!
I live in Scotland and love kelvin grove art gallery :D
Great to hear! It is fantastic.

Stumbled upon your videos (this one was the first one we watched) today. 2 minutes into it I said to my husband “they’re Canadian” (hadn’t read your bio). Of course I had to google search and sure enough I was right. Now we have a lot to binge watch! Figured out Samuel was from the east coast, trying to figure out Audrey’s “accent”.
Haha, we are Canadian indeed! That easy, eh? 😅 Sam's actually from BC but his family is out in the East Coast and he's been travelling there every summer since he was a kid - I guess the accent stuck. Mine is a little harder to place because I spent my childhood outside of Canada, but Ontario was home for a long time.
@@samuelandaudrey for a Canadian- yes that easy! And it’s become a challenge for me- I thought you might have been born outside of Canada and moved here. The way you said “ToronTo” and “Torono” was confusing! Enjoying the vlogs, thanks for making them!
Try one of BrewDog’s beer and cheese pairing tours. Located directly across from the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Also the Glasgow Tower at the Science Centre is a great attraction for great views over the city. Six by nico is a great restaurant in Finnieston with 6 courses and with the menu changing every 6 weeks with different themes.
Wellington with traffic cone over his head, outside GoMA. priceless example of perverse Scottish sense of humour - taking the pish tae ye. Love glasgow
Next time you visit you must go to ox and finch for dinner and lagom or gnom for brunch! Xxx

Wonderful video. Thanks for showing my city....and it wasn’t raining. A little funny story..behind you at 1:50 in the video is a little yellow plaque on the grass with the letter H on it.
