Amazing actor. Love his personality. One of the best. I watched SCTV as a youth and loved him ever since. Him, John Candy, Catherine O’Hara, and the gang.

Martin Short, Joe Flatherty... Johnny Carson and Conan O'Brien loved SCTV too. Martin and Cath were on with JC.
I watched SCTV with Eugene, Catherine and John. Unmatched in humour.
*Levy once appeared at some awards show to introduce winners...he looked at the camera and said "You know if this ceremony were in the 'Middle East' "I WOULD BE A GOD THERE!" running fingers over his eyebrows*

Before I clicked, I knew someone would have pushed out that tired old "national treasure" cliché.
@@camplethargic8 Guilty as charged about using a tired cliche, but it makes my heart feel more joy to employ a tired cliche in the service of saying something kind about an extraordinary talent than it would if I used wittiness to insult someone. If you derive joy from trying to make someone feel belittled about their choice of vocabulary, you needn't worry that anyone will call you as exhausted a cliche as "national treasure". I stand by my trite, but heartfelt comment about Mr. Levy. And I wish you peace and joy in your life.

Oh Mr. Colbert I loved how you pointed out how you felt about the Schitt's Creek logo having to come up every time the show was mentioned. Brilliant.
I bought some brie on Monday. As i was eating some, I reflected that I prefer brie over camembert. That made me think of Earl Camembert (Eugene Levy character from SCTV) and how he pronounced his name camembear. And of course, I thought of Steven Colbert. It's been a long time since the SCTV days, but I'm glad Eugene is doing great.
He's right about getting MORE nervous as you play a character very close to your own personality.
I remember as a young kid, asking my father, who was a very deeply religious man..."why is shit a bad word, but poo is not a bad word?" "Poo and shit are literally the same exact thing, but one of those words offends Jesus"? Here in 2023, I hope we can get all this shit sorted out. It's tired and old. Poo-poo on all this crap about CBS and curse words.
I had a similar chat with my grandfather, but instead of Jesus, he said, “but one offends Grandma.”

Funny, he seems to “play”the same character that is him in every film I’ve seen...(many I have not seen)...and he is so lovable! Perhaps he’s always just been a form of himself this whole time. That’s what I realized after playing many “characters” they are all a side of me.

something that many people just wont understand, and thats many famous and actors/actresses, actually have lived ther lives playing roles of other personas, as such, many may not actually know who they, as a person, really are, so eugene is quite accurate in his assesment. Its just that many viewrs who idolise stars, just dont get that fact, because many of them, cant even live their own lives and seem to choose fantasy over rality, thats why they always try to live vicariously through movie stars and athletes/celebrities. Get with reality people.
