- For Leap Day on February 29, 2024, I did a quick Parks on the Air (POTA) activation after work in the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor (K-6532) in WNY. I used a 17 meter MFJ hamstick on a Tram triple mag mount with 10 Watt SSB from the ICOM 705. My first contact was with Kevin K0KLB in Iowa, who was operating his Xiegu G90 with "Pedal Power" from his exercise bike.

Mike, so great to finally get you in the log. I was in Banff National Park at the confluence of the Great Trail of Canada and at the site of the Cave & Basin Mineral Springs. It's a very historic site in Canada as it was the birthplace of the National Parks system. You were as loud for me as I was for you! thanks for sharing that video clip. 73
It was great to get you too! I was getting nervous too. I had been calling for a little longer than expected. I ended up noticing a lot of QSB on 17m then. You and some others would nearly drop down from S5 or higher to S1. It was a lot of fun though.
Love that.. So fun Mike.. Thanks for the Park to Pedal contact and for all the great entertainment you provide us.. Keep it up! k0klb
You too, Kevin. I had a feeling "Park-to-Pedal" would bust that pileup, LOL.
It sure did bust the pileup.. Had I known you were recording it, I’d of dressed up for the occasion.. LOL!! Great job !!
Great stuff! Looked like a beautiful sunset. I also hunted Vince today on his activation.
Thanks, I had a great time, even if it was cold and windy.
That’s awesome Mike! So jealous of the 705. It’s on my wish list! 73 brother KL7EC
I love the 705 and its convenience for travel or grab-and-go, both of which I do a lot of. It packs a lot of great features into a small radio and I’m sure you’d have a blast with it. Thanks for watching!
I could not hear either you or Vince tonight, but I am glad you guys were able to work each other. 🌮🌮🌮
Thanks for listening for us! 🌮🌮🌮
What a fun time. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't at home so I couldn't join in the fun. There is always next time. 🌮🌮🌮
There will definitely be more, and hopefully soon I’ll have some more time to try out some new-to-me antennas 🌮🌮🌮
Don't mess with the vest!
That's right! LOL
Sweater vest!!!! Can I get a summary? 🤣 Nice work. 73!
Thanks, Jeff. The summary would be longer than the video though, LOL.
That was great...I have the same setup. Need to hit a park KB2DMW.
It works great! Good to get you in the log tonight too. 73
I see a Tie-Tenna in your future. 😉
LOL, Ed. If I had sewing skills, I bet there's a lot that could be done with faraday cloth.
