When I started my college search I was convinced I wanted to get as far away from this state as possible but I swear it’s the best place ever, even the deadly winters can’t keep me away. Hoping I get accepted to Loyola!
Great to see a perspective of Chicago from someone visiting for the first time. I was born and raised here and take too many things for granted. By the way, GO RAMBLERS (LUC, Class of 2002).
Hi Zoe! I am a LUC student. Walking around the campus each day brings so much joy! However when you do decide picking out a school just know how much hard work you have to put in. At LUC things are definitely challenging but it’s worth it! I just wanted to give you a heads up. I love the professors here and the students. There is so much opportunities available at this school. The only thing that I am always not a fan of is Winter. My face litterly feels like frozen ice because of the lake effect.
I'm a current LUC student, and I love it here. It was a school that I never thought I'd end up at, but here I am! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!!
I'm starting my first year at Loyola this fall and am curious about how rigorous the workload is. I know your first year it's basically all intro-level classes so I assume the workload isn't so bad, plus it depends on the classes you're taking...I just don't wanna be staying up after midnight writing papers xD
Hi Samantha! I am a part of the Honors program, so that was definitely the most rigorous work of my freshman year. If you are in the Honors program, let me know if you have any questions about the material or workload there. Other than that though, yes, it was mostly all intro level classes. I definitely wouldn't call them blow-off classes (especially as you take some of the intro classes for your major, and not necessarily for the core) but I also wouldn't say that there are generally super hard/rigorous. For me, some of my core classes have been WAY easier than others, and for others I had to put a decent amount of study into them. Most of my 200&300 level classes have been more difficult. While I definitely wrote papers in my first year, they were definitely less demanding than those of my major courses. How late you stay up working is entirely dependent on your time management and study skills. I have terrible time management, so a lot of my work was done late into the evening. You can definitely avoid this though! I have a roommate that does all her work during the day and goes to bed early and that works great for her!! Hopefully this helped! Let me know if you have any more questions! :)
seh221 I'm curious about the cost? I've heard from people that the high tuition of private schools scares people away, but that most of it gets covered. My partner is going to school in Chicago, so I want to go with her, but I don't have a super amazing test score or gpa, and I don't have rich parents. I'm thinking about Loyola, but I don't want to go there if I have to dish out 30k+ a year. Any advice? Thank you
I'm writing some story that takes place in Chicago and i wanted to get to know the city more so i ended up watching ur video. And then i hear bts in the background oavsyeuwish i got too excited so i'm just gonna stop writing bc of too much tma which wasn't necessary at all
