  • One of the sweetest varieties of mangos, the Ataulfo (aht-ah-uhl-foe) only recently gained popularity in the United States. It has a smooth, creamy flesh, a small thin pit and holds the title of many people's favorite variety of mango. So when this seasonal fruit hits the stores, it's mango madness. Either try some soon or get out of the way and let the rest of us at em'!

I ate my first mango a few days ago. I had to make myself at least try it as I am a very picky eater. It tasted soooo good. 🍌🍊🍅🍒🍉

I like to skin mine with a vegetable peeler. then I slice off the fruit similar to how he shows but getting closer to the seed. Then once I've sliced off everything I can I scrape the the remaining fruit off the seed with my teeth and clean that baby up. It's sooo good I let none go to waste.

this is a great way to cut a mango if you are a millionaire and don't mind wasting 25% of the fruit. They don't call it Whole Paycheck for nothing!

I find it hard to locate the pit before cutting. Sometimes it is so big the pieces around it are too small.

Actually, the best mangoes in the world are grown in Japan. That's not me giving my opinion either. They were voted the best. The people that grow them are like fruit wizards or something. The tie strings around the branches so the fruit get sunlight from every angle and when the get close to being ripe, they put a little foam net glove thing around them and tie that to a string so they never touch the ground. It's crazy. Lol. I prefer champagne mangos. I've never tried the japanese variety tho.

Where is the seed? This looks like a very unnatural mango. We have every type of Mango in Taiwan but they have large seeds because there has been no alterations to the plant's genetics.

That might work on a good day. Might leave good fruit on the core. Also not easy to get the fruit off the skin afterwards. I prefer to score through and peel off the skin (in 4 pieces lengthwise) first and hack the fruit off down to the core. Also not perfect (slippery, messy) but gets all the fruit.

It’s not the “right” way to cut a mango but I definitely feel like we get the most fruit out of it that way

@smol pom I would highly urge you to research . Because ALL mangos originated and are NATIVE to the Indian subcontinent! You can certainly grow them in other regions of the world , however that does not mean they are indigenous there , thank youuuu very much 😉
