The genius of Mozart is, that he managed to make complex melodies approachable for the "common" listener. This is complicated stuff, but still it is very easy and relaxing to listen to.
I particularly love the Baroque flavor introduced in this inpretation. The teenage Mozart lived in time when the Baroque tradition was still not completely dead. One could see that in his early operas, and one should see that in his concertos as well. Mr. Malov's playing brpught out that transition from Baroque to the classical period beautifully. To our romanticism trained ears, such interpretation is fresh, inspiring, and thought provoking.
Einfach wunderbar!

I believe Sergey Malov is playing a Gioffreddo Cappa violin. These are good instruments in the $200,000 dollar range. However he could use a good Strad in this Mozart concerto. Strads were made for Mozart music.
Not in baroque setup he couldn't. The violin sounds fabulous anyway. Mozart himself played on a Bavarian violin, and used it to premier these concerti. www.thestrad.com/lutherie/what-is-it-like-to-play-wolfgang-amadeus-mozarts-own-violin/11309.article
I love this performance! It does bother me when period music directors who never learned any stick technique try to "conduct." Like actually know what you are doing or just play continuo...he's clearly not helping anyone in this performance
I think it is more a choice to conduct without a stick than something he could not do.. I’m pretty sure he could do it without any problem A stick or no stick doesn’t define if a conducter is good or not
@@sven3902 I'm not talking about the choice of stick or no stick, my mistake. However, he just doesn't have much technique to speak of and, as such, there are some very awkward transitions in terms of ensemble that would have been fine if a competent conductor was leading, or even if the concertmaster was leading and this guy was playing continuo.
He is right on the money. The last movement is taken in 1 in a bar...which is interesting and very lively. Hard to pull off I would say, but they manage it.

Yes that's very true, mozart is really hard to perform but it sounds so easy because it's so 'fragile'
Imagine being such a boss that you play a violin concerto and a cello concerto in the same concert
Just passion, a huge amount of effort and luck
World best music symphony my favorite music symphony orchestra mind relaxed heart touching great Mozart good Frankfurt radio symphony orchestra

Exactly, Mozart never heard Brahms or Wagner but most certainly knew Bach and Handel.
What a beautiful performance, so vivacious - and the cadenza, really stylish and spontaneous.
How wonderful this concerto and how enjoyable Sergey Malov's rendition. I could come back to this time and again.
Malov is a superb violinist! Beautiful performance.
Impressive performance

Malov invests this concerto with energy and brilliance - the essential qualities of Mozart. Delightful
Not the usual prissy effete Mozart, bravo!

warum braucht es einen Dirigenten, wenn es dann doch so konventionell gespielt wird?
Sounds great. Looks great. As always.
But he's rushing. A lot. The orchestra can't keep up with him.
slow movement excellent performed fast movements rushed a bit
The soloviolin is almost rushing
