I absolutely love the contrast between Calliope summoning the Fates vs Morpheus summoning them. It's total polar opposites and actually helps the audience understand how the Fates act towards family & business. The Fates even answers all her questions without caveat & it's a really nice detail.

It’s the same 3-in-1 but not really the same goddesses. She/They come in the form of the Elder Muses, not the Hecate that appeared to Dream, so the rules are different. Divine parents are able to intercede on behalf of their offspring, usually. Myths are full of this. It’s not stated here, only hinted at. Their names were Meditation, Remembrance, and Song. Edit: woops, apparently their names are *Practice*, Memory, and Song, not meditation

To be honest “gods” being a term given to immortals with powers that demand worship and praise for power they didn’t actually earn but were born with
For instance lusifer or satan says to call yourself a god is low of a being to do
Given the fact the one actually God actually being all powerful knowing and prescient by definition perfect thus to call yourself a god with the knowledge of the actual God is like saying you are the adult with all the authority and strength when in reality your just a child by comparison having a delusion you are better because you have power
lusifer the second most powerful being in creation outright says if I can’t be God what makes you think you are beneath me
If the devil actually is disgusted and looks down upon the idea you claim to be the alpha and omega of anything you know your pathetic
The endless are actually govered by Father Time and night both entities that were created by the creator and are equivalent to angels in a way
So the endless are more or less the same nature as lusifer just not with the term angels as they are given functions based on the design of the creator
Basically the Greek gods, Roman Nordic, or any so call god in myth within Dc is just a big shot praying on mortals in order to feel strong when in the grand scheme they aren’t all that powerful
Even in marvel it’s almost treated the same way in all the comics
What I think sums everything up about the so called gods is how they are presented in in Thor love and thunder
As in they are all big shots who are born live and die like mortals they just are immortal and have great power praying on those who have non
It’s equivalent to being the bully in a school thinking your better only because you were born stronger or smarter and demanding to be called king of the school when your not the principal let alone a teacher
As the saying goes it’s a poor thing for one man to inslave another
Even greater for one to dictate dominance based on what they have but didn’t earn through force or fear of power others have over others
Making anyone worship you to make yourself feel better is pathetic yet every self proclaimed god outside the capital G God is guilty of this
The endless are a bit of the exception
As they are more equivalent to say the valar in lord of the rings
As in they technically can fit the criteria of being a little g under the big G
Only they don’t call themselves gods nor demand worship
They simply want good will towards all and treat morals as equals as people even though they are the embodiments of the thoughts of God
Such humbleness is what demands respect the concept of having great power yet using is responsibility and using it for reasons that are just not asking for anything other then everyone’s well being
They are more worthy of worship than any self proclaimed deity

@@ATalesTruth-They ARE gods, a summation of the beliefs and dreams of mankind. Lucifer CANNOT be a “god” because he was not born from the belief and dreams but from the presence itself. His power doesn’t fall even if people don’t believe in him as his fate is not tied to the dreaming.
All gods are born from the dreaming and when their purpose is done they return back into the dreaming as what use is dreams without the dreamer? The presence is the only true GOD with capital G.

    • @ATalesTruth-
      @ATalesTruth- 6 місяців тому

@@zawwin1846 well my point is “gods” aren’t actually God by definition if you have a flaw or limit your by definition not god
      Let me address my beliefs
I am not religious, and I require no hypothesis but I do believe something is beyond us and possibly fits the definition of God but it’s unknown
To say Gid does or doesn’t exist is just as fruitless as us asking if 10,000 years ago if space exists
We don’t know until we fully understand everything possible which won’t happen till the end of our species if it survives to the hypothetical end of the universe
      Now into the topic
when ever someone says they are gods what they really mean is very powerful near immoral level beings that came in via a higher plane of existence but are no different from mortals,
They are born they live they die
And even beings that came into existence but where born per say aka created like Lucifer
It’s one of those instances where even if you are given great power that doesn’t mean you make the rules or have authority to rule anyone or anything
It’s better to be an angel or demon then a pretend God
Because your claiming to be top dog
But by extension your only inviting others to prove you are not
      And as the saying goes
If you can make God bleed against Gods will everyone will
      Cease to believe
As God can do everything and anything nothing is impossible
If God bleeds it’s because God chooses to if God wants anything even in paradoxes it will happen he can and can’t lift the rock
Both happen and will happen but only because that’s what God wants
Not because someone has power over God or God lacks the power
If God can bleed beyond his power then it’s not God
If God can’t do everything then it’s not God
It’s the challenge of absolute power
Unless you are absolute no one should treat you as the asbsolute
Which is why I think any so called god is a fool because they are just powerful near immoral beings yet act as if they are responsible for everything and should be worshiped regardless of how or why they came into being and what they should or shouldn’t do
If God is perfect it can’t be imperfect
In fact God should be able to make things of imperfection to make them perfect on their own
Aka nothing is truly bad unless it ruins what could be perfect

    • @zawwin1846
      @zawwin1846 6 місяців тому +1

@@ATalesTruth- You are running around in circles chasing your own tail. I don’t blame you as most Christians throughout history also face this dilemma when they talk about the “true god”. It’s only the Christian God with omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient god that cannot logically be reasoned. Even the presence cannot be considered the big G as he is fallible as seen in the comics. The question itself is fundamentally flawed.
I would say your view of “god” is highly narrow and illogical as the you state if if they are imperfect they cannot be considered gods. You use a narrow definition of god as THE definition of god which is not true. Even within DC if we follow your strictest definition there are no gods therefore no one should be calling themselves god.
Throughout most of human history and across cultures gods are just manifestations of nature or reality. Japanese Gods or Kami, African Gods, Greek Gods, etc.

I am right there with you. Also I WANT to know why in the heck Calliope could not invoke Apollo to come and rescue her? One of his divine jobs was working with and delegating with the muses directly he therefore would have been able to come to her aid, unless it had to do with destiny, because he was the first official god of foresight which means he has access and can see destiny which is why I think he could not come to her. Which they have mentioned on the show Destiny but we have yet to see destiny come on the show and allow us to see there side of their job. As an art historian I am like why could Apollo not come get her or Zeus he is her dad?" I will be honest it was more of a story with dream coming to her rescue and more romantic but the classical studies minor in me is like "uh why did she not invoke Apollo?" all of my academic studies are like this does not make sense. Unless in marrying Dream, Apollo gave Calliope to Dream in terms of claim due to greek custom. Because usually in greek culture women married and child reared, only the oracles were allowed to have a title and a place outside of marriage but still that was for life. Unless they were priestess, but that depended on the god/ goddess that was being pledged to in question because of vows of chastity and what not depends on the god or goddesses follows and what they followed in that area. Still though she is a goddess and she would still have had to answer to Apollo because she was preforming her duty when she was caught which falls back to Apollo. Personally I want answer on this because it feels like a never ending revolving door of going back to Apollo and Destiny.

in the original myths, Orpheus is a demigod (some versions say he is descendant of Apollo, other versions say he is the son of one of the Muses and a mortal king)
either way, he received music lessons from Apollo and learned to play the lyre most beautifully
Orpheus traveled with the Argonauts and used his musical talents to charm the dragon guarding the Golden Fleece allowing Jason to get it, Orpheus also used his singing voice to drown out the song of the sirens to ensure that the Argonauts would have a safe voyage by sea
Orpheus then fell in love with a woman named Eurydice, they were married, but she died prematurely, leaving him devastated, he traveled to the Underworld and appealed to Hades with a song, Hades allowed him to lead Eurydice out, but warned him that if he turned around to look at her before they were out of the Underworld, she would be lost to him forever
unfortunately, Orpheus could not resist temptation and looked back, causing Eurydice to permanently disappear
Orpheus ultimately died at the hands of a group of violent and drunk nymphs, but his lyre was salvaged and transformed into the constellation Lyra

@@ridhoirvan1070 Each of the Aspects (shapes, forms, avatars) of the Three In One are given specific roles, spheres of influence, and powers. They're all variations of the same base entity, a goddess with divided forms, but they exist in different capacities. For instance, if she had invoked the Furies, the Three Ladies of Vengeance and Judgement, they'd have power to punish those who had done her harm in the aftermath of her being freed. If she had invoked Hecate, the Triple-Faced Goddess, The Mother of Witches, Keeper of the Keys, Goddess of Witchcraft, Necromancy and Wealth, then perhaps in that capacity they could have rewritten the Laws and undone her metaphysical bindings. But the Aspect they are summoned in dictates the capacity they are empowered with, same as when one is called into a school as a parent versus when they are called in as a teacher, or when a manager is called into work as a manager versus showing up off the clock.
In this instance, she summoned them as the Three Muses- Melete, Mneme, Aoide. Meditation, Remembrance and Song.

The gods only care about themselves

    • @quinnmartensbobbitt3704
      @quinnmartensbobbitt3704 Рік тому +3

Not necessarily. The Gods came before Man, but Man was made in their image, a reflection of who they are. Mankind often cares only for itself, dooming others and hurting people just for their own benefit. Likewise, the Gods only help those who have something to offer to them as tribute, or when they stand to gain from it in some ethereal capacity. To say otherwise would be hypocritical. We only go into work because it pays us what we need to survive. We only do things for others because we stand to gain from it emotionally, physically or financially.
As for how that applies here, they didn't choose not to help her, they simply couldn't. In the Sandman universe, as in reality, magic has laws that were written into existence by the Gods themselves to ensure balance and order. Those who could wield magic and the powers therein had to be balanced by the laws around them. Gods like the Muses for instance could be summoned or bound to force their powers into play by higher gods (the Olympians for instance) or by powerful mortals (as in their time, only kings, scholars and mages had knowledge of how to do so, and were thus worthy of it). The rules by which she and Morpheus were bound essentially stated that should a being of sufficient will bind their physical avatars to the physical plane by rite, virtue or invocation, they had to submit to it and could not release themselves without the permission of their binder. Certain objects are required for this to occur- such as the Muse's scroll, which held the invocation required to bind her, as ordered by the cosmos. For Morpheus, it was an angel's feather and a cage of glass, to contain the dimensional power he possessed.

After his trip with the argonauts his wife died, eventually he decided to go into hades's realm. He charmed everyone there, even the three headed dog guardian cerberus, eventually he was given his wife back but on one condition. To not look at her until they reach the surface or the deal is off permanently. Right before they left hades'realm he didn't make it and turned to look at her. She was gone forever. Eventually he stopped paying tribute to the god dionysus and instead did it with the god apollo. Dionysus was angry and he sent someone to tore his limbs apart.
