Thank you very much! CRM is an essential part of flight safety and in a cockpit we have to work as a crew. It would be foolish not to do so.
Airlines have progressed a lot with CRM, in the charter flying industry there is still a lot of room for improvement.
Thanks for watching my videos and happy landings,

Thank you very much sir! You are a fantastic role model for young pilots.
During your approach briefing (at 10:30) I missed the "ILS" part. Over here in South Africa we have a quite a few localizer only approaches. That's were I became a bit confused.
    Thank you again sir,

I really appreciate the time you are putting into these videos, with notations on what or why you are doing something and how you are dividing workload between the two pilots. At age 50, I wonder sometimes if I will go beyond my PPL/IFR rating then I watch your videos and think second career at least as a CFI.

Yes, that's the one I was thinking about!
I'm lucky enough to fly helicopters around Cape Town. I can't ask for a more beautiful place to fly. I'm almost finished with the Instrument Rating - that's how I stumbled across your videos. I find the multi crew aspect of some of your flights very interesting. My aim is to end up flying two crew/IFR helicopter flights in places like the North Sea one day.
    Thank you for the response,
    Kind regards

This kind of video is invaluable to would be professional pilots. I particularly enjoyed the heavy ATC dialogue. This is flying with the big boys. Great CRM, and love the use of the iPAD for A/D layout-so much easier than flipping through paper diagrams. Keep it up!

    Hi Chris,
this is all "manual" on the throttles. Only a few business jets have auto-throttle.
The reason to cancel IFR in the air is the direct route to the airport. Normally this is not a factor, but in the busy New York airspace this can be a be a big detour. Safety is first, we do this only if the weather is good.
    Happy Landings,
    Guido

I think the published approach was an ILS (Localizer and glide path). On an approach you establish first on the localizer and then you capture the glide path from below.
Thanks for watching my videos & Happy Landings,

We are approved by the FAA to use iPads (model 1 and 2) for enroute and terminal navigation.
This works very well in the day to day flying and has saved us a lot of paper.

On take off, we set the power according to a weight - temperature table, say 96.1% N1. During take off, the power rises due to the ram air coming into the engines. To adjust the power precisely, the pilot not flying "fine tunes" the power. This is why he has the hands on the throttles. The pilot flying looks out.
    Happy Landings,l

    Hi Donovan,
I do not know the Challenger 300 in detail but I would recon it is about 50 kts faster than a Citation V. We do around 400 kts true airspeed, the CL30 around 450. This is not significant on short flights, but definitely on flights longer than 300NM.

My company was the first one in the USA approved by the FAA to use iPads for en-route and terminal navigation. No paper in the airplane. It is a complex process and part of our Ops manual now. We need 2 iPads, Batteries must be tested and the chief pilots needs to ensure that everybody has the current charts.

Paul Kinman Thank you Paul! A lot of students (including me at the time) are not comfortable with talking on the radio. No reason for this, ATC is here to help and support you.
      Correct phraseology helps both sides.

hello quido. 2 questions: 1. Is that aircraft equipped with a full autothrottle, or is it manual? 2. Why cancel the IFR flight plan in the air, when it is just as easy to cancel on the ground? Seems like its just safer all around to cancel on the ground, in the event of you having to execute a missed approach? Thanks :)

That is why I ask. Since most of the people that I know here in Venezuela that have Ipads, do not have any certifications for it by any FAA aproved Authority (speaking for USA "N" Aircrafts that are based here). They just buy the subscriptions from Jeppssen for one or two Ipads and that's it. There is much lack of professionalism down here.
I am an FAA commercial Pilot; graduated in Phoneix East Aviation, Daytona Beach. Currently I fly an Citation II as a SIC, in Venezuela.

    Hi Guido,
Very nice videos firs of all.
When the PM says "using ILS 23" you decide that when you file a flight plan or is ATC that tells you which approach to expect?
    Thanks.

      Hi Matt,
the runway assignment is by ATC. Pilots may decline a runway and request another one. Runway length or wind direction might be a factor.
Thanks for watching my videos & happy landings,
      Guido

Is this a standard citation V, an encore, or any of the later models?

Both pilot hands were on the throttle at take off roll. Any reason for this?

One pilots etc the power initially, the other pilot sets it to the precise number required.

Comander Wernecke, first of all, I'd like to say congrats for your videos, they are really, really nice, and give more motivation for us that are starting now!
I always try to find, but I've never found it, where did you change the heading of the AP ? sorry about my English, I am from Brazil, and I'm almost finishing all my licenses here, I'm just missing my multi add on...
    Safe Flight captain.

Muito obrigado - thank you very much!
The heading selector for the autopilot is on the center pedestal (behind the throttle levers).
So it is not visible on the video.
There is one turning knob, that controlls the heading bug for both pilots.
Thanks for watching my videos in such great detail.
      Happy Landings,
      Guido
PS: you English is good! I am a German and English is not easy for me either.
