Curlin had beaten Asiatic Boy and Well Armed some 8 lengths the year prior, and Well Armed beat Gloria De Campeao some 12 or 13 lengths in this race. What's ironic is that Gloria De Campeao came back the next year and won the Dubai World Cup in it's first ever running at Meydan on the tapeta surface.
