      It was certainly much easier than cutting a bunch of holes in my ceiling.

    This is Fabulous Brett.
    I'll be showing it to my Son, (who is an electrician), as he's been so kind to offer to do all electrical work in our House.
    Thanks,

    I just finished putting in smart switches throughout the house. My wife would have a COW if I wanted to do this 😂. I think my kitchen might need these. Good job 👍

      In our old place the kitchen was the first place we did this and it made a huge difference!

    Great work! I would also install an Inovelli blue smart switch for manual control without loosing voice control.

    Loving the videos and have learnt so much. Can I please ask what app you use to record/display your phone screen and touch points. I could really use something like that for user guidance creation at work. iPhone and Android recommendations please.
    Thank you so much in advance and keep up the fantastic videos.

      I am just using the built in Screen Recorder in the Android quick settings. I then use a .png overlay of my phone's border to give it a finished look.

    We are building a home and the builder charges too much to install can lights. You showed how easy it is to install your own. Thanks for the information!!!!

      As long as you have attic space it is pretty easy. If it is in a basement it is doable but a bit more work. Congrats on building a home!

    Another great video. When you wear that shirt, I keep thinking I need to press Play on my device.

    So I know you said this works with Alexa and Google home, so I’m assuming it works with Home Assistant as well?

    Nice! It's similar to WiZ smart lighting, only thing is missing is the smart button 😊

    nice video, i may get these, what kind of switch do you use for these?

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  Рік тому

      Just the standard light switch. The switch will operate them on and off but it is best to keep the switch on and use the remote or voice assistant to control them.

      @@TechWithBrett Great thanks for the info. Does a special light switch have to be used since they are LED? I've noticed some of my retro fit canned lights flicker on a dimmer switch and I read it may be due to using an older light switch.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  Рік тому

      Yeah I have seen that on dimmer switches so just make sure it is a standard switch and it should be fine.

    you should setup home assistant and get a stream deck

    Very nice, What happens if you lose your internet, is there any other way of controlling them? I know the whole idea of using this is, so you don't have to install a switch. Thanks

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  Рік тому +2

      The remote will work without Internet because it is using a Bluetooth signal. You just wouldn't be able to use voice commands. I don't think the app would work.

    Brett, "Mom and Dad, we have a brand new house and I'm running out of projects to film for UA-cam. Can I come over and start doing more projects at your house?" Brett's Mom, "Okay, but don't make a mess!" Brett's Dad, " You realize son, you're going to have to show us how to use this stuff at least 10 times... a week. We love the grandkids and everything, but is it worth it?"

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  Рік тому

      Haha! Are you listening in on a wire? We have had these exact conversations.

      @@TechWithBrett So... Reed of course has his home automated to the next or highest level... It could, would in fact be really nice to see someone doing some of that from the ground up.
      Even with your new home, I think autoations would be an excellent direction to go, then if that is successful, how do you do automations at your parents' home to make them work and not be too technically challenging....

    Great video but just one thing - String is spelled S-T-R-I-N-G. Not SHTRING The ST sound does not make a SHT sound. That bugs the s*** out of me.
