I enjoyed your last tour of Scotland last year, you went to places and highlighted points of interest that gave us ideas to visit in the future.
If you are coming past Perth, there is a nice quiet CL site that is quite new, and has a great view, southern facing. I’d be happy to meet you and buy you a coffee.
We were at St Andrews today, in our van, just for the day. It was lovely. I spoke to the Ranger and asked if he thought the council would ever agree to having an Aire. He explained that the council had a bad experience when they allowed overnight camping years ago. Travellers moved in and it took a lot to move them on!
Bylaws were then changed to offer daytime only free parking on the West Sands and a Ranger service to protect the dunes and beach environment. He said they also get chancers, who are freelance golf Caddy’s, some of them try to park up for the summer season. He said the foreign vans and those passing through are never a problem, it is often local that think they have the right to park at their beach overnight for a few days.
I think we should all write to the council and get the body promoting the develop,em5 or Airs to reach out to the council to try to establish l ish a small Aire with booking and max one night stay for a small fee.
The Ranger recommend the free parking sites at Tayport. We went past that, on our way home. Great parkup sites, we’d consider staying there overnight, right on the banks of the tay. There is also forest Parking at Tentsmuir beach, which is another beautiful spot.

We walked up and round the grounds of the castle and the big cemetery but unfortunately we can’t afford to get into everything sadly
