  • After about 2 years of ownership I finally got around to reviewing this induction stove. While I have had zero warranty issues with the stove, I just don't like it that much. It's loud, the buttons intermittently respond, and the child lock-out function is useless. Perhaps the grass is always greener, but there are a lot of short comings with this stove, and for the price we paid it should be better.

You need better pans for induction to get rid of the buzz. There's not enough iron in the bottom of the pan for magnetic connection.

It makes the same buzz with my cast iron skillet.

I have the same range with the controls in the back. This is my second inductipn range. The first was a much better Kenmore 14 years ago. The large burners on this range can only heat an 8 inch area. That is the size of all of the elements regardless of the circle size on the cooktop. I've had the elements replaced along with the generator board with no improvement. Two different technicians said that there is nothing else that can be done.
The noise is most likely from your cookware, which vibrates from the magnetic heating process. My steel and cast iron cookware is pretty quiet and only noticeable on max power.

Good real-world observations. Surprised you didn't comment at all about any coil size annoyances - electric stoves with multi-size rings are really more flexible here.

I have this one with the controls at the back. The two left burners failed just after the warrantee expired. Cannot seem to find any induction range that doesn't have quality issues. Hate the idea of going back to non-induction.

I have same model. We went to Lodge cast iron pans and they do not buzz.
The auto sizing is garbage just the center will heat on ours.
I took it apart and it is one single coil on each burner and they are not segmented nor is there a sensor to even detect the size.

The surface is cool relative to gas / electric because the surface isn’t generating any heat. The heat you’re seeing is coming from the heat in the pan, resting on the surface. If you had touched an electric coil or glass top like you did here around 14:00, you would literally be blistering. That’s what makes it much safer than electric / gas - especially when it comes to children.

I wish I could test a coil vs induction. The surface was still hot 15 minutes after I stopped cooking, but i don't know how hot a similar electric coil stove would've been either.

I have friends with induction ranges who absolutely love them and highly recommend them.Faster cooking, less energy use, and supposedly it heats the pot with soundwaves. A chef said that the vibration sound depended on the pan. Gas burners make a definate noise.

Does the fan run a lot while using the induction cooktop?

I don't hear a fan when I use the stove top unless I'm using the oven as well.

    You should take into consideration
the price point on this specific oven versus its competitors. It’s the lowest priced induction stove. You sound pretty disappointed with your purchase. Should have went with a Bosch or Kitchen Aid. But I think you would have found faults with other manufacturers as well. You’re just a Karen. Just saying!! You get what you pay for.

It was not the cheapest at the time we bought it, a Samsung was. We bought Frigidaire because we are very happy with our Frigidaire fridge. It wasn't even the cheapest Frigidaire now that I think about it. Not all critical reviews are Karen'ing. Should we not be critical of things that we buy? It's not like you can test drive these things.
