    i'm surprised with all that preparation to show precise numbers our host allowed that target to blow in the wind. bewildering !

    being a veteran thinking of the weight difference I like to that the PIG would been a lot lighter with half the weight ammo . Now as a civilian I do not have the Billions the Military has to purchase such and since it is a once shot trash I will continue reloading my Brass >308 that i can Purchase even at todays prices $ 21 for a box of 20 M80 ball and reload them with what ever I desire Load wise . Nice video and thanks sir

      I was also a 60 gunner in the Army. Thanks for watching and posting. Yes this is pricey stuff but perhaps in the future it will be more reasonable.

      I see a lot of potential in the technology as soon as the patent expires and everybody can manufacture these rounds: Polymer is simply cheaper than copper and the copper price wont go down. It'll only go up if the EV-revolution continues. I believe once the patent expires there will be a flood of new polymer rounds on the market with new ideas and developments braught into them.

    I'm really exited for the future of composite ammo!

      Seems like it still has a ways to go, primarily to drive the cost down. I shot another group the other day and all went well once again. Close to my handloads in precision.
      Thanks for watching.

    I'm not against innovation. What I am against is charging people a kidney for it. No way in hell am I going to pay $4/rd for 308.

    on another video a rep from true velosity stated their using 10% less powder in their 308 ammo to achieve the same ballistics as brass 308. i'm curious if felt recoil is less due to using less powder. no mention on this but i would think it would be a selling point

    • @sdkweber
      @sdkweber  2 роки тому

      Hello Ron, I did not notice any difference in felt recoil. Then again, this RPR is pretty heavy and it soaks up recoil easily. Thanks for watching and posting.

    Great review. Is it true that the gun gets less hot with the polymer ammo?

    • @sdkweber
      @sdkweber  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks for watching and posting. In theory the polymer cases are supposed to transfer less heat into the chamber but I have not tested that. The heat from the gases traveling down the bore will not change however and there will still be plenty of heat generated and passed into the barrel.

    These people are insane $69.99 for a 20 ct .308...........THEY ARE MADE OF PLASTIC for Petes sake!!!!

      But I just had to try one box :) . I agree, far too expensive for everyday shooting.
      Thanks for watching

    That SD is a fraction of a percent and it's mass produced so there is that.

    Good comparison. Many videos on this ammo haven’t been consistent likely due to the shooter. I can see spending $70 per 20 of the taxpayers money but there isn’t any reason to spend that on civilian use considering average accuracy.

    • @sdkweber
      @sdkweber  2 роки тому

      I am going to continue testing this ammo until I use the entire box. It is good ammo but as you note it is quite expensive.

    Off the shelf polymers vs "carefully hand loaded" ... Should do vs. off the shelf brass...

    I'm curious to know if the gun has to be specifically optimized to use the ammunition or can any gun chambered in the right cartridge use it

      True Velocity .308 Win. ammo will fire in any .308 Win. rifle. We have experienced some issues in the cold however and I still very much prefer brass cased ammo.
      Thanks for watching Raphael

    Yeah that's like paying for 338 Lapua Magnum ammunition.
    Screw that Zelda.
    I rarely shoot my 338

    I know how precise my handloads are. So, there is absolutely zero return of investment for, I would think, most firearm enthusiasts that do any reloading to buy this type of ammunition.

    • @sdkweber
      @sdkweber  Рік тому +1

      Not being reloadable is a huge drawback for reloaders like you and I. I just had to try them though to see how True Velocity stacked up against standard brass. For several reasons, I think polymer cases lack a lot compared to brass.

    I'm sure it's great, but I'm not spending that much money punching paper when reloads and milsurp can be had for much less

    Just checked their website. It has 308 with no limit on purchase. At 70 bucks a box of 20 I can see why. Damn!

      Yeah, very expensive stuff. But it was fun just trying it out. Thanks for watching and posting.

    Five shot groups tell you nothing. So why did you not fire the whole box, scared to show the real results? Changing the propellant between loads will require the barrel to re-season.

    • @sdkweber
      @sdkweber  5 місяців тому

      I have been shooting and reloading for well over 30 years and have never heard anything about re-seasoning a rifle barrel. If you can send a link to some documentation about this I would really like to see it.

    I thought back to back readings were more than likely an error

    • @sdkweber
      @sdkweber  2 роки тому

      No, not with the Labradar. We can look at the individual shot tracks (in this case shots 2 and 3) and see that at the muzzle the actual recording was 2434.58 for shot #2 and 2434.60 for shot #3. Subsequent measurements deviate a bit more.
      Thanks for posting.

    Until this is $30-40/box like other proven brass rounds, it won't go anywhere. $70 per 20 and you don't have the option to reload it, I will pass

  • @TheGixxerMister

    I’m not paying $60 for a box of 20 that I can’t even reload. Innovation is great but the benefits of this are negligible.
