My settings :
CG 71 mm
Ailerons throw , mesured at the root of the aileron .
Diff 12 mm up , 16 mm down
Speed ,preset and cruise match the flaps position ( see below )
thermal 1: 1.5 mm down
thermal max 3.5 mm down
Snapflap 3.5 mm down , 2 mm up
Flaps throw , mesured and the root of the wing .
Diff 12 mm up , 16 mm down
speed 2 mm up
cruise 0 mm
Thermal 1: 3 mm down
thermal max 5 mm down
Snap flap 6 mm down , 3 mm up
Preset 1 mm up
Elevator :
max Up , touching the tail boom and 10 mm down
preset 3 mm up

@@GrotrianSeiler when I talk about a glider I talk about it in general from my experience in all the conditions I flew it . I flew the yoda in wind , active thermals and dead air , so I talked about it considering what I have seen flying in this differents weather .

Perhaps would you share details on your Tuning? CG, Throw setting, Camber settings?

@@pierremeunier 1:1 ratio Aileron to flaps? Did you try less flap than Aileron?
@@tomkelley9316 it's not 1:1 ailerons as more throw than Flaps , if I take the mesurements at the point where ailerons and flaps are next to each other , flaps defflect 4 mm less than ailerons . And as usual I tuned the glider by flying it , and only took mesurements to share them , so I was quite surprise to see that too .
@@pierremeunier Thank you so much for sharing your setting. Yes that makes more sense that the Flap throw would be less than Aileron (as they should be). But it seems that if the throw as measured is equal in distance at the root (both Flap and Ail are 12mm up, 16mm down at the root) it seemed like that is closer to a 1:1 ratio. But because the length of the control surfaces are different then perhaps that is actually what makes the flap throw 4mm less. Or is the flap throw 8mm up, 12mm down? I will measure my Yoda to check to see if that is correct.

What I wonder is, do you use butterfly/crow

If it would be easy like fast food, it would smell like fast food. Perfect cooking also needs some experience. So enjoy the new experience and the learning.
I find it hard to believe that polyhedral will make up for the weight of two extra metal servos on such a small glider, but it definitely looks cool. I'd love to understand how it gains that extra performance. Could you do a video on how you add weight to the tail of a glider?
I never add weight to the tail of a glider , it s nose heavy I just put a smaller battery. About weight distribution , it feel good to me , you need to try for yourself to see if you like it or not .
@@pierremeunier My Strike3 has KST6 servos and is slightly nose heavy. The servos and battery are as far back as possible. Took the shell off my FASST receiver and even desoldered the pins. Not sure if I can find a battery small enough to fix the issue. I taped some weight to the tail and I don't like it. :(
@@ChristieNel x06 are too heavy , 5 g servos are at the limit
@@pierremeunier Yeah, they were probably overkill. My seller said they are the best servos for the Strike 3. Maybe performance-wise, but yeah, too heavy. Next time I'll be more careful.
Thanks Pierre for this video. Would you switch to fly Yoda? Do you still think poly way to go after Yoda and modified NRJ flights?
Yes I could consider to switch ( without talking about sponsors )
Poly is interesting in the air , as I said only down side is the settings are a bit more complicated to dial in but when it's good it fly great .

One of the big advantages of normal DLGs is that you can change the whole wing area because of the flaperons. Is there any disadvantage with polyhedral wings?
I'm currently looking for a nice DLG and can't decide. But the Yoda looks so interesting!

It is just another new plane... with a bit of difference. The four servo wing is easier to set up if you have had any prior four control wing experience, which you noted in the video. Surprisingly, in some regards it is easier to set up a four control wing than two control wing in that one doesn't have to ignore one of the axes. For flaperons, one has to decide whether pitch, yaw,or roll response is most important, and deciding the second most important, when moving the roll stick. With a four surface wing, one can fine tune the response from a roll command in the pitch, roll, and yaw axes. One cannot do all simultaneously with a flaperons equipped aircraft, although have a good chance with a flap g/aileron aircraft

@@joewurts7046 Hi Joe, I now have 2 Yodas and applied your setting from RC groups to them. I'm still trying to fine tune out the best setting for it. The setup he posted here is quite interesting compared to yours. It looks like he went with a bit more flap throw than yours and he's also got the wing throws more down than up. Your setup is actually the opposite. Perhaps its just a prefernce thing?
@@tomkelley9316 Hi Tom, I have been slowly reducing my differential and am a bit happier with the handling in thermals. In the past couple days I received some feedback from a talented flier in Italy, where he has gone with a small amount of negative differential, and zero aileron to flap mix. He has been flying Yoda for around three months now and is rather pleased to say the least. When he first started flying Yoda, he was rather happy with the plane. I suggested that he take some time before providing an evaluation. Well, there has been sufficient time, and he provided his evaluation... :)
