I understand why everyone is saying 800 for what “looks like a nightgown” is not good but what everyone is forgetting is that not only is it silk (which is already super expensive) but it’s HANDMADE silk which makes it a super luxury material. Frankly 800 dollars for a floor length handmade silk gown is really really good.

The silk dress was so lovely, plain, but lovely. That’s the reason it comes with the lace bolero, to dress it up a bit more. She just opted for a more simplistic look.
That one could have been worn again after the wedding. So there's that- not just a one-time dress.
Laceandstiches 1999 I don’t know if you are familiar with Carolyn Bessett-Kennedy’s wedding dress, but this was reminiscent of that. Depends on great fabric and terrific cut - sleek, simple and so unfussy yet super elegant. A refreshing change from blingy meringues.

I love this concept of buying used wedding dresses. You get beautiful dresses for such a low price. And honestly you get better options compared to David Emmanuel's.

Didn't the bride tell them her budget first, because for the life of me, I can't understand why they're showing her dresses she can't afford.
This show the bride is shown two dresses then a wild card dress. They are all dresses worn before. The bride then decides which dress she wants.
I feel like they need a different set up. One of those girls are going to end up falling down the stairs one day!

In the Asian tradition they often do more than one dress

@@stephwiller9089 it’s just tradition, and actually 1 of the 3 dresses is usually a traditional dress, so not 3 western white dresses. For example in Chinese weddings a red chinese dress is worn during the traditional tea ceremony. Then it’s a wedding ceremony dress and a wedding reception dress usually, which many western brides do too!

But I guess if it’s already the norm to have 3 dresses, it’s just automatically included in the wedding budget just like the flowers etc. And for the cultural aspect, if you want to include that in the wedding then you have to have the outfit for that part too.
I’m glad she didn’t choose the night gown dress. Too plain and doesn’t look very bridal to me. Love her final choice. Very elegant.

You mean lingerie? That's a different thing entirely (though the first dress is basically an overpriced night gown). They specifically said 3 DRESSES.
I'm not sure whether is this her reason too, but during the wedding dinners that I attended, the bride usually have dress changes in the middle of the dinner time.
For example, at my cousin's wedding, she had 3 different wedding dresses on for the wedding dinner alone. These dresses doesn't include the one she wore for the wedding itself. So, in total, she had 4 wedding dresses.

I’ll never understand having multiple dresses for a wedding. It I found the dress of my dreams I’d want to wear it as long as possible. Not to mention if I spent at least a thousand dollars on a dress you better believe I’m wearing that dress all night to get my wear out of it!

The first dress- Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. ☺ She wore the those kind of gowns (her wedding dress, too!) and wore them well, IMO.

Anyone else think that 800 dollars for the first dress is way too much, like its a nice dress but it looks like something you would sleep in and could get for around 20 dollars at most at like Walmart or someplace similar

It is expensive because of the material. Handmade silk is possibly the most expensive material for wedding gowns. Some versions of lace may come close, but handmade silk tops the costs over. It is usually used for simple gowns because it is very delicate material to work with and the shine which it gives and the way it falls over the body makes it a bad choice of a material to be added embellishments on, especially sparkles.
@@natashas.1566 Nothing looks better, in my opinion, than well-cut, beautiful slithery silk. Look at some of the iconic 1930s film stars like Myrna Loy or Jean Harlow -fabulous.

She picked the right dress. It was a real stunner and something that as a guest I would not forget soon. The slip dress looked too much like Caroline Kennedy's wedding gown.

I mean - When I think about the prizes I would have to pay for fabric like this - Only the material would be between 200 and 300 - Then comes the costs for producing it and taxes - So yeah, 1800 is a little bit to much, but I think the minimum you would pay for this at a normal store would be around 500-800

I think what a lot of people can't see in these shows is the material the dresses are made of. Some of the dresses are more sparkly, others way more simple, but the material is gorgeous. I think that's what was going on with the "lingerie" dress

She absolutely picked the right dress. I am not someone who usually likes wedding gowns, but this was really special and even more special because it was right for her figure and wasn't so plain that it looked like a nightgown. It was so different and elegant, and the price was a screaming deal.

The dress she chose is lovely. I got a beautiful dress suitable for a wedding from a charity shop. It is a brand new, white linen dress with spaghetti straps, with embroidery at the top and bottom. It is fabulous. I paid £6 for it.

So, I don't understand expensive dresses. Its pretty easy to add lace to things for idk less then $200. That night gown (first dress) I own, and it was around $23. :)
I wasn’t crazy about any of these dresses but if the four gowns, options 3 & 4 were the best choices. That first one straight up looked like a nightie. I think she made the right choice in the end.

The $800 Silk Dress is beautiful & worth it, but the $6,000 Dress going for just $1,200 is definitely worth the Wow Factor it gave everyone. I would have found a way to go over budget and buy that Dress too if it were Beautiful on Me! It's so worth wearing it to your Wedding if it's The One who makes others gasp. 😉
