I like how the banker's answer is "go ahead, switch banks then." They've given up the pretense that it isn't just one giant money-sucking entity, and they all get rich no matter what machine you use.
To me, what the banker said made complete sense: if it's 25 minutes to get to your branch, yet there is a branch of another bank much closer, why not bank with the closer bank? I've switched banks before, and changing bank accounts is not *that* much work, and would certainly be worth avoiding a 50-minute round trip to get to the nearest branch.
To be honest, it is very easy to switch banks, I do it all the time now out of principal. People have this tendency to think it is complicated, it's not. It takes some time but well worth it. I do this all time and for AUTO/HOME insurances too. The gauge you every year with an increase... so what I do I can when they send me my renewal with an increase. They call you after to see what they can do to make me stay... guess what too late, you should have done that before f&*%$#@ me over. That banker's attitude was very wrong.... basically saying go elsewhere if you're not happy, then we do. I love it when they call offering their products... GO to Hell comes out my mouth all the time.
Another charge that how now become as redundant as the touch-tone fee, is the $2.99 digital services fee charged to cable customers. It used to be considered an upgraded service from analog, so the fee might have once made sense. But now that all cable has been converted to digital, you no longer have a choice.
you guys waste your money on cable. I have not had cable in my home for over 25 years. Why spend the money on it when all the crap can be seen on the internet. Now if you got suckered in to that bundle package I feel sorry for you. The power goes out and all communication from that home is dead-that is what the bundle (phone, cable and internet package)gets you. Nope that crap cable box will NOT be in my home; EVER.
I don't need cable. I have android boxes & Gaming Laptops, Desktops, tablets, phablets, etc. But the wife likes to pay & watch some live shows the minute they come on. She can't wait to see it the next day, lol.😅 Plus she doesn't want to hear about less expensive ways you can watch some live programs with other devices. So f,k, it. Lol.😅
The bank paper fee starts to happen in the USA now too. It is up for grab and they can get away with it, that's why. There should be some law for excess fee from these corporate companies.
The "oil recycling fee" you pay when you get an oil change! There are companies that BID on buying the used oil! They get the oil, collect the recycling fee, and then sell the oil to a recycler!

Lizzybear29 I'm American, living overseas. It makes my point even more because most of the people who you talk about not having computers or whatnot, from developing nations, HAVE phones. Those phones are their tech device and they are tech savvy. We just don't need paper trails anymore, IMO.

I had a charge on one auto insurance bill that essentially was them charging me because lawyers (not on my volition) sued them for charging too much. That's right, I was required to pay more to pay less...
What people don't understand is that companies have to pay fees too and it costs these companies money to pay for their internet service, to keep their lights on, to pay someone to stuff the machines and fix jams. They're not dumb fees, they're fees that keep that service available to you.
Problem. In literally all these cases these charges will just be baked into the service price. Even if the companies agree to remove the charges, they will just add it into the cost of the base service and call it a feature and compare it to those that don't. If you really want to pay less, you have no choice except to consider the full cost with fees included, for the service you are offered, and then make the choice to go with a rival competitor or not. A while ago people said "No hidden fees" but at the same time, fees are used to incentivize customers to assist producers and service providers to cut costs or increase their bottom line. Fees are about efficiently charging different people, different prices most often differentiated by convenience vs cost to the producer. At the end of the day, you just got to ask yourself "how much is this worth to me really?" then vote with your dollars.
#3 is the dumbest complaint on this video. If you're smart you never need to use an ATM. I've never used an ATM, if I need cash I withdraw it from my bank account. "To get to her bank she has to drive 25 minutes." So? I drive around the same every 2 weeks when I get paid to withdraw money myself. I'll agree with #5, #4, #2, and #1 though. However, #5 if Ticketmaster really wanted to they could lie to their customers and remove all the fees and put them onto the ticket cost and just take the same amount of money and people would never know better. I do believe the fee is too much for a single ticket, but they are just trying to tell you how much money they get from your transaction.
Wait... we charge people a paper fee to keep costs low? In other words, we charge them so we don't have to charge them more? I am trying to find the logic.
At least you can get tickets. I try to buy tickets the second they go on sale and they are all gone because bots bought them and resold them for 50% more.

So if you keep your money in bank A but withdraw it from bank B, you shouldn't have to pay a fee? Why should bank B have to pay for the maintenance without a profit?
Banks actually have to pay a fee every time you use other ATM's, even the banks own ATM incurs a charge, every time you check balance and such there is a cost to the bank, this is the reason they are pushing so much on Mobile apps banking and online banking, because the costs of connecting to their servers and viewing balance and doing transactions is a fraction of the charges.
The touch tone service charge has been a ripoff since day one. They went to touch tone all those years ago because it was less expensive for them to provide it than to provide rotary dial service. Yet they charged customers more because they tcould.
I worry that this complaining about fees isn’t going to make companies to the right thing-rather, they’ll just reduce transparency. Roll the fees into the regular cost.
My family has never reserved a seat and we have 90% of the time got the seat we wanted. Airlines usually put families together on flights. If you worried go to the airport earlier, first come first serve. Only time we didn’t get the seat we wanted was when we came later for check in.
I never fly. Being retired, I just take my RV or boat. I hate dirty motel rooms, and being fondled by minimum wage airport people. I use a credit union, and don't even have an ATM card. I don't have a phone. Why? when you have a cell phone (prepaid). I haven't looked at my credit report in 10 or 15 years. When I did, It had a dozen bogus bills that I didn't owe, and wasn't even my name or address. I carry a lot of cash, (and a gun). I don't play anyones silly little kid games. I'm the customer. Do it my way or I take my business elsewhere. Life is good.
Anyone ever have to pay convenience fees to pay your rent online? I have a two bedroom apartment, which costs around $813 a month, which can be quite a bit of money; however, if I want to pay online with a credit or debit card then I HAVE to pay a $35 convenience fee to western union-- absolutely absurd how shady business practices are becoming around the world. No one cares about keeping a customer, or keeping them happy, and they could care less if they break our banks in the process!!
Scott Hiser I've had this with "non-moving violations" with tickets. They charge like $5 for a convenience fee. Shouldn't it be an INconvenience fee? For wanting to make things easier on myself and hopefully the people that work in the office, I get charged extra. I've seen the same thing with movie tickets online.
+David A As a matter of fact I shop for groceries and everything else and I change accordingly to the prices and quality. I shop for quality and work my way down till I pay the price I want to pay. At least if the airline is going to charge for a seat selections fee they should have a rule that at least one adult is guaranteed to sit with a minor child.
The banks charges are normal, although the ATM charge seems to be to high, if it really gets to 7$... Banks share network, to maintain those networks it costs, and it costs a lot, which people don't realize... You have to pay for expensive servers and equipment(routers and everything), those servers consume a lot of electricity, they need to be maintained, they need a proper(expensive) facility to stay in. The software for this needs to be maintained and developed, that's people that need to be payed: Software Developers, Software Engineers, Security Researchers, Network Administrators, Testers, and the list goes on and on...
I've never been charged an ATM fee when I use my own bank. They charge a fee at other bank's ATMs because you are using THEIR money and your bank has to pay them back, so they charge you.
"Convenience Fee" for using a credit card for payments. What's that? I grew up learning a fee is what you charge for rendering a service (e.g., think Lawyer Fee), not because someone gains a convenience.
National Bank of Canada now has a dumb fee. If you want to pay less than $9 per month there is one for around $3 but this is the part I did not know ... you cannot use your debt for any shopping or you get charged a fee each time ... doesn't matter if it belongs to your bank or not. I did not realize that at first. I misunderstood because that is too ridiculous to be true. Well, I found out it is true. I am now looking for another bank that has lower fees because I am disabled, on dialysis, going through sleep studies because I have severe sleep apnea so at this point before I get my CPAP machine it is dangerous for me to drive too far and National Bank is very closer to my apartment (reason I went with them as I needed a close bank while I was going through surgeries a few years earlier and they had more reasonable fees at that time). This is ridiculous!
You Canadian's are lucky. We in the U.S. have worst fees. How about a HSA maintanance fee. They charge me $4 a month just to have my money in a retirement account. or how about the network fee on internet or sports fee on cable TV when you dont watch sports? Whats wrong with a fee for using another banks ATM? Why should you get something for free if you arent a paying customer?
BMO! BMO chargers you $15 a month to use there banking service unless your a student! Its horrible. I changed banks, I was originally using it when I was a student, and I stopped for a year, and they switched me back to not being a student without asking or following up, and I started getting big chucks of money (I count 15 as big) per month. As I said - I switched banks, but this was frustrating.
In regards to ATM fees. Can we not just get rid of cash? like really what could you need cash for? Regarding the paper fee, it should be more money. In fact, get rid of mail altogether. Junkmail is even worst. I made a hole in my mailbox that drop all my mail in the recycling.
Ah come on, you really don't need to reserve your seats on a plane! I fly so often I would waste thousands! When I traveled with my family when I was younger I would often sit with my mom, and my brother would sit with my dad somewhere else. And whenever our seats were all separated, people were always nice enough to switch. That guy's just obviously not a frequent traveler and nervous for nothing. Who cares if your daughter (Who looks old enough to sit on her own anyway) is sitting somewhere else on the plane, where do you think she'll go? In the Ocean?
I've been with PC or Simpli for 5 years no charges as long as I use CIBC atms. I get interest on my chequing acc and high interest savings. Its not much, but better than these rip offs. I buy everything with my mastercard, because they are liable if someone steals it with your debit, you are liable. I paid about $3 in fees the last 5 years because I was a few days late paying the bill. You have to pay your credit card fully every month!
Im not charge for touchtone fee's, I bought a 30$ device and all of my home phones are still working for around 2.50$ a month with voip.ms ... a quick look on the internet on how to cut phone bill will give you answer. I really dont know why people are still paying 15$ and more per month for phone line ?
Seat selection fees are fine as far as i'm concerned. As a single guy, i don't care that you have to pay an extra $300 because you wanna sit next to your spawn.
some prepaid debt cards and banks will charge you a maintenance fee every month and that can add up fast i know because i been down that road many years ago i will never do that again
to comment number 5 - if they would remove these fees they would just make ticket cost more - and pay these fees to companies that sell the ticket and so on anyway, only you wouldnt see how much of the money who gets same goes for all other fees shown in other "stupid fees" in this video in other , they would just make basic servise more expensive
the dumbest thing i was ever charged for was after i gave birth to my son my insurance company send HIM a $150 bill for "presence at birth"! how could he not be present it was HIS BIRTH!
ticketmaster makes sense to have a fee but way too high the bad ones are ATM fee and Paper fees some companies we do work for have bank fees in over $400 per month
Paper mail period should go. Get rid off all of it. My mailbox is just a trash can. Not a single thing goes there I dont throw straight in the bin. It's a waste all around.
Katy Perry is not a suitable artist for a mere child, if she heard it somewhere fine but don't encourage it or take her to the concerts. She's not a children's music artist. You don't just let your kid pick whatever they want when they're that young, you let them choose from a pre-approved selection of age-appropriate artists.
Well bank is the most cash grabber. People put their money in the bank but then people get to pay an overdraft fee on a monthly basis or pay a fee for extra transaction if your limit has been maxed out. Why people have to pay the bank if people want to take out their money?
where I live, "coin operated bathrooms" (they aren't called bathrooms where I live) DO exist in some places, I have used one before, although the coin acceptor thingy is at the entrance rather than on the individual cubicles, and sometimes there is a window where you pay instead of a coin acceptor the highest I've known the charge to be on these is 40p ($0.71 CAD) EDIT: most of them are 20p ($0.35 CAD) though, I've only seen one which was 40p so far, and the one I used was 20p, the ones which have a window generally charge less for children, usually 10p ($0.18 CAD)
that´s really common in Mexico... I haven´t actually seen a free bathroom here lol, except in places like hotels or restaurants, but not really free since they usually ask for your consumption ticket 🤔
I have a $25 convenience fee for my mortgage and car payments if I make them online. I ALWAYS mail them in. They want me to pay more money to give them my money. Hell goes with no right there!!
ya and you could see that if the fee was not there her job would be gone or she wouldn't be making as much as she is and that is where the fees go, some goes to programs but mostly to c.e.o's wage increase every year
My dumbest charge is resort fees for staying at a hotel. If the resort fee is mandatory it should be included in the price it could add an extra $25 a night to your stay.
Resort fees is a tax, it has to be paid separately so they would count and pay it to the government It's like sales tax - always goes separately on any receipt
We left them after over 40+ years, because of their BS. They`re hemorrhaging customers because of their poor treatment of longtime clients. It won`t be much longer before old Ma Bell is in her grave.
The WestJet spokesperson said the plane would not go without families with young children sitting together. They have full control of the check-in process and seating, and always reserve the right to change seats even from paying passengers. He said it himself and yet the customer said "I'll keep paying these fees" even though he doesn't have to. For wanting to make things easier on myself and hopefully the people that work in the office, I get charged extra. I've seen the same thing with movie tickets online.
Number 2 can be fixed in two simple ways.... either print the ads on the back of the bills or switch to e-mail and worst case print them at home....
Just get an account with TD in this case!!!

As a matter of fact I shop for groceries and everything else and I change accordingly to the prices and quality. I shop for quality and work my way down till I pay the price I want to pay. Economics rules.I have to eat and have a place to live. As long as I can save a little money I don't eat junk and always have a roof over my head. The greedy will also have a room and food and free for what ever they committed and got caught. Losers.
+David A Uhhhmmmm TD is worse

That bell guy was hilarious
Lilian Yep but then they leave the ATMs running Windows XP so....
The only reason you would need paper is solid evidence.
Having to pay for paper bills suck. Atm fees also. $1.00 per atm use after 10 uses. Fido said it cost $15.00 for paper bill
Wait until stores start charging for paper receipts.
Wait until stores start charging for paper receipts.
as for ATM charges they are banned in the uk by the government
Be proactive and you can avoid all these fees. I don't pay ANY of them at this point.
I made a hole in my mailbox that drop all my mail in the recycling.
the united states is a lawyer happy nation

They have lawyers all over the world. I think they are all happy.
I like these video this one was dumb though. They are just telling you what the cost is divided up into... This episode was idiotic and unprofessional
Yep
Im not charge for touchtone fee's, I bought a 30$ device and all of my home phones are still working for around 2.50$ a month with voip.ms ... a quick look on the internet on how to cut phone bill will give you answer. I really dont know why people are still paying 15$ and more per month for phone line
?
All r outrageous but if u buy tickets together then they should be sat together that's horrible
what about the new lawn mower emissions test.
USE A PUSH MOWER.
If make a purchase at a big box store grocery store or walmart you can usually have cash back up to 100 or 200 for free.
to comment number 5 - if they would remove these fees they would just make ticket cost more - and pay these fees to companies that sell the ticket and so on anyway, only you wouldnt see how much of the money who gets
same goes for all other fees shown in other "stupid fees" in this video in other , they would just make basic servise more expensive
the dumbest thing i was ever charged for was after i gave birth to my son my insurance company send HIM a $150 bill for "presence at birth"! how could he not be present it was HIS BIRTH!
Paying to print your own ticket at home -_-
So damn tired of hearing about "women being held down" bullshite .
:-(
ticketmaster makes sense to have a fee but way too high the bad ones are ATM fee and Paper fees some companies we do work for have bank fees in over $400 per month
seat selection fee.. noooooooo, dumbest charge I have ever herd
I pay a convience fee of $2.50 everytime I buy an online movie ticket at Alamo Drafthouse. This adds up.
Wouldn’t know why number 5 would complain about small portion of money when she has a beautiful house . Wooooow so 60 bucks it’s a lot ?
Back in the days of travel agents when I booked, you could ask to sit together for free! Good old Canadian Airlines!
Tell that Ticketmaster lady to use SeatGeek.
Well bank is the most cash grabber.
People put their money in the bank but then people get to pay an overdraft fee on a monthly basis or pay a fee for extra transaction if your limit has been maxed out.
Why people have to pay the bank if people want to take out their money?
Katy Perry?? Then I realized this was uploaded in early 2015, so that makes it OK.
Scotiabank charges $25 for someone maintaining a credit balance on their Momentous Card.
You just know when the presenter said "coin operated bathrooms" ,the West jet guy was like , why the hell didn't we think of that.
where I live, "coin operated bathrooms" (they aren't called bathrooms where I live) DO exist in some places, I have used one before, although the coin acceptor thingy is at the entrance rather than on the individual cubicles, and sometimes there is a window where you pay instead of a coin acceptor
the highest I've known the charge to be on these is 40p ($0.71 CAD)
EDIT: most of them are 20p ($0.35 CAD) though, I've only seen one which was 40p so far, and the one I used was 20p, the ones which have a window generally charge less for children, usually 10p ($0.18 CAD)
that´s really common in Mexico...
Lady Cheyne is that $25 per month or annually?
But I had my check lost once, and I am forever done with mails. But my bank doesn't charge me.
@@SkyyPiano That's per month. They're not getting anything extra🤣🤣🤣
@@houchi69 I don't like automatic debits. I don't like anyone in my account but me🤣🤣🤣
I absolutely LOVE how the main host woman was roasting the financial lady! 😂
ya and you could see that if the fee was not there her job would be gone or she wouldn't be making as much as she is and that is where the fees go, some goes to programs but mostly to c.e.o's wage increase every year
Don't worry about the banks. Their days are numbered already. Crypto will take over in some years, then we do not need them greedy bankers anymore.

My dumbest charge is resort fees for staying at a hotel. If the resort fee is mandatory it should be included in the price it could add an extra $25 a night to your stay.
Resort fees is a tax, it has to be paid separately so they would count and pay it to the government
It's like sales tax - always goes separately on any receipt
I left bell long ago. They don't treat long time customers very well. They are the biggest and most expensive.
This whole program is ridiculous and just ignores the facts while bitching bitching bitching....
It's so easy to avoid ATM fees, just buy a pack of gum and get cash back for free.
And you get gum without feeling guilty
Tru Neilson Not all stores offer that, but yeah that’s what I do. Rarely go to atm, and like never to another banks. My bf seems to love those fees though. He’ll use a diff atm when his is half a mile up the street...
Got to be careful about cash back because not all places offer it and some still get charged a convenience charge - at least that's here in the US
@@rebeccacole6954 yeah I was going to say that. Dollar tree and family dollar charge you an extra dollar for getting cash back.
Some places still charge you food cash back.
Ticket Master can rip you off because they have a monopoly. No competition means you're stuck with them.
GEES44DC people should avoid going to games ,showed and events for 1 year ,I know totally impossible but it may work.🤣👍
They are dead to me. Complete ripoff.
@@evelinholmes6401 or....get your tickets directly from the seller/venue. There isn't a monopoly, people are just lazy.
@@shayslay3416 not every venue allows you to buy from them. I know of two near me I've went to and they said you can only buy tickets online from ticket master. They don't sale them at the venue itself.
It's a luxury tax. You don't want to pay the fee, get scalped tickets.
When you go on a plane. You can ask passengers to swap seats with you. Im short, and once was in a seat with lots of leg room. I swapped seats with a really tall guy when he asked me.
now that was really nice of you... but many other people would have not done the same.... I am the smallest in my family with 1,78 m and I do have problems with the space available in the plane... thank you for being a nice human being / passenger from Germany 🤗
Belgium = no bank atm fee, I can withdraw from any bank.. No paper fee, move here
