So cool to see this old Footage .I had a 1989 Montesa Cota 309 ,way cool bike. These mono shock bikes is where trials really started getting interesting . I've Ridden all the twin shock bikes .now I have a 2017 vertigo combat ice hell 300 ,what a machine. Incredible how good of shape you have to be to ride I need competitions, some serious core Strength
May they look similar to bikes nowadays, but new one's have much better suspension, a snappier engine, more torque higher in the rev range and still have more torque down low than bikes of the 90's, and todays bikes are as much as 15-17 kg lighter(Beta EVO 2T 300 2022 @ 66 kg/Fantic 305 @ 82.5 kg) than the bikes in the vid, which makes them extremely flickable😎 cheers from a former trialsrider from the 80's/90's now riding for fun on a 2022 GasGas TXT 300 Racing👍😊
The year that Michaud began his downslide and Jordi Tarres was an impossible task for everybody in World Trials, winning 10 rounds, and had a bike Superior to all others, maybe exept the all new Aprilla Climber...

Proper trials riding, not the bland ‘rock hopping’ in a nice dry indoor stadium we see today.
Xtrials are a thing. So are the old school outdoors trials.
