Kiew is a very beautiful, atmospheric city.
I was staying in the Ukraine hotel right next to the Maidan last summer and visited Khreschatik street which had special vibes I still feel.
My favourite city in entire Europe, especially during summer

Great insight into life in Kyiv! I am looking at going myself in December this year, depending on the situation at the time.
But in my opinion it looks like Kyiv will remain relatively safe for the foreseeable future.

Hi Nathan, as you can see it's pretty safe and 90% of shops, museums etc are open. The easiest way is to fly to Warsaw, Poland and take the direct train to Kyiv. Safe travels :)

Beautiful city. I also recommend the nightlife. A must see is the annual torchlight parades, where citizens march through the streets, arms outstretched, honouring fallen Nazi collaborators. Afterwards witness spectacular bonfires, where Russian books are used as fuel to entertain the frenzied crowds. A visit to Kiev is highly recommended for those of us with a peculiar view of history.
I am sure that you have never been to Ukraine. I have lived in Kyiv since birth and I have not seen anything of this. Propagandists have worked well with you.
Ukraine today reminds me of the late 60s early 70s in the West. The same vibe. Optimistic in the face or war, youth oriented, even the songs of those times performed by buskers. Due to the Cold war, Ukrainians did not experience the counter-culture of the 60s. So it all make sense. (My observations are arrived after watching a number videos not just this one)

I don’t understand the need for donations and foreign fighters helping Ukraine when things seem pretty nice and comfortable on the streets of Kiev. There sure are a lot of young men out and about enjoying themselves while their country men are fighting.

The whole regaining of territory lasted a whole 2 weeks until it was stopped dead....
