This helped me figure out how to wire my used compressor that didn't come with all the wire looms, now it works!

You did well. Many people looks for that simple wiring. Thanks

Thank you very much for the informative video nice work. If someone does not have the technical background there is only the trial and error method happy that it worked with you. For sure this video will help many

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Abd A Masoud. Sometimes the only option is to do it yourself, whether or not you know how at the beginning.

@Mario Worked On It It is a learning process and as far as a person is not damaging any other components while testing around it makes fun. All the best and take care

The diode is to stop any current leakage, it should be connected to the purple wire. Then all you need is 12v power to the switch. Power goes through the switch into the purple but nothing can come back with the diode in place.

I think 589 fab makes a bracket that let's you install that ARB compressor under the hood, specifically under the coolant reservoir.

Hello, Krzy Slo4x4. I have seen that bracket and there is plenty of room under the washer fluid reservoir. I want to wait and see if I need an air tank before I mount the air compressor. After using the compressor a bit, I may go with that 589 bracket.

LOL. Probably would be nice not having to splice the wiring harness back together again. ARB also sells a portable single compressor that comes in a tool box with battery clips and accessories.

I have seen some of those portable kits come with an air tank. I really need to find a nice place to mount the compressor and tank. Somewhere tucked out of the way. I hear that you don't want to mount the air tank far from the compressor.

So a suggestion, maybe tap into the 12v on the compressor side so you can use the harness as you originally planned.

Oh and the black too, as you said I think you just need the 12v to the purple..

Hello, rambokd. That is something that needs to be considered, for sure. I have not looked into it. Trying to stay in the spirit of changing as little as possible, I finished with what you see. Actually used it the other day. But yah, it needs something more. One concern I have is bypassing things like the automatic pressure regulator. Thanks for commenting!

@@MarioWorkedOnIt if you tap into the 12v line at the plug on the big plug at the compressor and the ground at that plug (which may not be necessary) your only dealing with the big plug at the vehicle. The only down side is it would actually work with the vehicle no running but since you are not always connected you control that. It wouldn’t bypass the the pressure switch.

I see what you are saying. Yah, I think all I need is to provide voltage to the purple wire and if I bridged the purple wire to one of the large positives connected to the pump, I would not need that other rat's nest. I have not tested the purple wire theory yet, but your idea makes testing the purple wire a higher priority.

@@MarioWorkedOnIt no what I am saying is instead of running the red wire you added from the truck along the same harness to the switch splice it into the large red wires at the compressor plug 12v and to the switch. You had the black and purple attached to the switch in the box that way you only need to plug and unplug the main harness at the vehicle and have all the other wires in the box.
